  1. No surprise. This is what happens when money is rained down on useless things like green energy scams. Just as well the Brits discontinued their aircraft carriers. There wouldn’t be anything to put on the flight decks.

  2. The last line is the killer “what good are RAF fighter jets against an enemy that arrives every day at Heathrow, having flown commercial?”

  3. Original opening words to the song “Imagine”
    “imagine There’s No England,
    It’s Easy If You Try……”
    -John Lennon

  4. With respect, I do believe the UK has recently commissioned a rather large aircraft carrier. Unfortunately, it is designed for th F-35B, which well may be a real lemon.

  5. Indeed they have the Queen Elizabeth, but no planes for it until the F-35 enters service in at best six or seven years. Wildly stupid decision to cancel the Harrier without replacement.

  6. If they are lucky, the 15-20 F-35’s will be there. I doubt they will.
The F-35 looks like an unsuccessful F-111 project.

  7. Yeah word is the F35 can’t turn and can’t run……multi-role means too many compromises. But…..the vaunted new Russian Sukoi seems to not only lack stealth but also performance/range…..and the Russians can’t afford it…if it did work…
Mebbe the F35 will be good enough….
    time will tell….

  8. I guess they wont allow Rue Britania becuase it offends whiny little liberals they’ll replace it with Age of Aquarius

  9. “Wildly stupid decision to cancel the Harrier without replacement.”
Wildly stupid to choose a single engine jet for carrier service.
Wildly stupid to trust the Americans when the Americans don’t trust England or any of it’s NATO Allies with the F-22 technology.
The F-22 was cancelled because of it’s cost? The F-33 is now more expensive and still does not work properly.
The F-22 would have been cheaper if it had been sold to NATO Allies: See Economy of Scale concept.(the more units you make and sell, the lower the unit cost becomes)
America is a bad faith actor. We either need better Allies or none at all.

  10. Actually there are 2 aircraft carriers under construction; the Queen Elizabeth and the Prince of Wales, they are the RN’s largest ships ever. They have already performed the function for which they were ordered, that is, to provide vastly overcompensated employment for a decade or two for Glasgow shipyard workers who are hopelessly noncompetitive in the international shipbuilding arena, for the purpose of persuading them that they should continue to vote labor; how did that work out again? Without launch catapults, nuclear propulsion or arrester gear they are essentially a pair of garbage scows. The per unit cost of the F-35 has risen to approx. $150M each, the variant that is planned for these ships is the least capable, it can hardly get its own weight off the deck never mind ordinance or fuel, no matter, it is inconceivable that these ships will ever actually be put into service, like the red coats and bearskin helmets of the Queen’s guard, they are there for show. The UK economy is teetering, dependent on hot money inflows to the City of London and vastly overvalued property.
    Good luck to you all!

  11. Went to the bronze medal final in women’s soccer last night in Hamilton. Just lost it when security had me pouring out my water bottle, this is insane with metal detectors, bags checked for whatever. Even my Swiss Army knife was held until after the game and I was escorted to the exit with this massive 2 inch blade a deadly threat. IMHO this is just another example of the staggering cost muslim are to our country every day. As usual we are reactive never proactive. End of rant.

  12. “IMHO this is just another example of the staggering cost muslim are to our country every day.” Yep, and if a political leader promised to halt muslim immigration to this country I would vote for them in the next election whatever their political persuasion
