  1. To repeat what I posted on BCF…
Did it not occur to Porter that Levant was taping the entire episode? Kind of hard to miss, right? And thus did it not occur to Porter that her story would be checked for accuracy, and if found lacking that Levant would be sure to let the world know?
    How dumb is this women?

  2. Falsifying data to suit their preferred narrative is the key trait that journalists and climate scientists have in common.

  3. You have to understand ‘leftie speak’.
When you express a point of view that happens to be opposite to what a progressive believes you are not offering an opinion, you are ‘fighting’ with them. They simply cannot get their head around the fact that there might be some validity to a different point of view.

  4. Don’t know what is worse. Her journalistic practices or her parenting. Abhorrent on both counts.

  5. It looks like she wrote the article first and then tried to create a situation that approximated it.

  6. Surely you know by now it doesn’t matter if the story is true but rather it could have been true so they are doing everyone a valuable service by warning them that climate change deniers (funded by Big Oil) may stoop to terrorizing children to further their agenda.

  7. Sent this on to Ms. Porter, as well as her editor.
My ( article about my) daughter’s first protest started off with a COMPLETE LIE. Catherine Porter, Toronto Star:

Really too bad Catherine. I’ve seen the complete video of the exchange and there’s no way around it. You used your daughter. You used your position as a ‘journalist’. And you used the event itself as an opportunity to express your own sense of moral righteousness.
I’ve sent this on to about 60 people, encouraging them to share it with others.
Amazing that people in your business fail to understand why mainstream media has lost so much credibility, considering there’s this little thing called the ‘internet’.

  8. Have no doubt folks, this inept member of the Media Party will write a follow-up screed which will paint herself as the victim, stating that she was the subject of “Far Right Hate Speech” and felt threatened for her and her daughter. In other words, people pointed out her mistruths and complete failure to be objective.

  9. Ezra Levant is an outstanding journalist. Sadly, I have to agree with Chris: “The type of audience she writes for will never see the Ezra rebuttal.”

  10. Remember when the larger than life Sheila copps used to do the same
Where is the old tequila broad anyway?

  11. I feel sorry for the kid, she’s clearly embarrassed and concerned for her weird Mother. Its likely the Mother (Porter), like most “progressive” leftists has serious mental health issues, which is probably why she was hired by the TorStar in the first place. It’s disappointing to see a Mother abuse her child like that, what a sad misguided woman using her child as a prop and teaching the little girl how to lie… disturbing… maybe Porter was drunk.

  12. Rabbit, I’m sure it did occur to Porter that Levant was taping the entire episode. And she was well aware that Levant would be sure to TRY to let the world know. But her audience is vastly larger than his, and as others have said above, the people she talks to will never hear the facts.

  13. The placard was a new-age folkswagon.
Godwin’s law kicked in quickly once Ezra was able to focus on chatting with the adult.

  14. Catherine Porter can definitely afford a fully loaded Tesla. She (or her family) can probably afford one for every person that comments on this story today. Her parents are Julian Porter and Anna Porter – look them up. They didn’t do so bad in life, in fact they did very well. Kudos to them.
It must be a little hard for her parents to see that video of Ezra’s, wondering where they went a little cockeyed with their precious flower.

  15. The Torstar lawyers made them carry Ezra’s video evidenced refutation.
And is there not an additional layer of possibly actionable deceit for slander, if the red star alleged jourNOlist had not identified herself as such to Ezra.

  16. Ms Porter wouldn’t be the first (and won’t be the last) fraud working for one or more of our national newspapers. Why is she working as a journalist? I think that Alan has answered that question by reminding us of Ms Porter’s fortunate choice of parents.

  17. Interesting, how that day after Ezra exposes her lies, the lying skank predictably scurries out of town to duck the issue. If she was a better liar, she would be working for the cbc.

  18. Just for the sake of a little bit of accuracy – Porter is not a journalist – she’s a columnist, i.e., op-ed writer, opinionator. Paid to fill column-inches with self-important dreck, which she does. It brings traffic to the Star (witness the response to her tabloid column). Clearly, the writing is not what the Star pays for. And since its the Star, her old-boy family network more likely got her the gig than her talent. Should she have taken her daughter to the protest? No, not at that age. Protests can turn ugly on a dime. Her lack of parenting chops is confirmed by the sounds coming out of her mouth. Emotionally scarring a child as was evident in the child, should be grounds for CAS to come for a chat.
