Greek hospitals have run out of supplies such as painkillers, scissors and sheets as swingeing budget cuts have left the health service unable to provide even basic provisions for operations and medical procedures.
Or Venezuela, come to think of it. Just polls, polls, polls…
Stories like this will never turn up on the MSM but they certainly should. The problem is that the general population will tend to have a ‘that’s terrible but it can’t happen here’, attitude. The trouble is that people won’t, or are incapable of realizing is that every attempt to create socialism on a nation level ends with this.
When the mob smells a free lunch anything is possible…even economic collapse.
So, will PM Harper have to offer more free lunch to the mob in order to be re-elected?
Please let Greece go bankrupt. Then they can start solving their problems. Defaulting on their debt would give them a starting point and any idiot who bought Greek bonds should have known better. At least they would have a balanced budget because no-one would extend credit to them.
Things have been like this in Greece for years. Some 20 years ago a colleague went through a plate glass door in a hotel (no safety glass in Greece) and wound up in hospital. Families were expected to provide food and do the laundry and he had none there so, luckily, some German associates were there and provided for him. Greece is a third world country hiding in plain sight in Europe.

The comments at the second link are frightening, almost every one commenting hopes the NDP is elected federally,many comments that Bill C-51 support by the Liberals will be the death knell of Liberal hopes.

Great moments in socialism? Jason Devine, Communist Party candidate in pretty much every election since 2000, reaping a good deal less than 1% of the vote, was finally elected to Rachel Notley’s NDP government in Alberta. I’d rather have the bigoted potty mouth Debrah Deevers then an outright communist, but the Notley Crue apparently think otherwise.

Regarding the comment section, one has to take into consideration that this is the Huffington Post and those who contribute comments are, should we say, somewhat detached from reality. The hatred for the Prime Minister seems to be a common denominator. These naïve haters should pause and remember the old adage “be careful what you wish for.”

Don, Canadian voters are more than “that” stupid. they will vote the socialist line every time. sixty percent of Canadians are socialists. liberals are socialists as are the conservatives. Canada has been a socialist country all my life, the controls have just gotten tighter in the last twenty years.
