You know the Liberal Party of Canada has jumped the shark when an ex-leader proposes legislation like this:

If all of you liberal trolls that comment here can pull your head out of your you know where, will this finally wake you up to the bald faced fact that you’ve been voting for a brain dead party for the last 50 years! This is proof positive that we have too many politicians trying to run our lives. These dough heads would have died out long ago due to natural selection if they had to rely on their own ability to work for a living instead of surviving on their ability to con other dough-heads into thinking that they would take care of them. Keep going down this road knuckleheads and we’ll all be speaking Arabic before 2050.

Antenor – If I hadn’t seen that for myself, I would have had a difficult time believing anyone could be that STUPID. Thankfully that jerk was run over in, what, 2006? And he’s still around? The Liberals really are a bankrupt lot.

Alberta NDP leader Rachel Notley won the debate.
Wildrose Party Leader Brian Jean won over voters.
And Progressive Conservative leader Jim Prentice won the ire of every female in the room when he turned to Notley and said: “I know that math is difficult.”
Combined with frequent interruptions between the two, and Prentice’s habit of mispronouncing Notley’s name — it didn’t go over well. Criticism of the PC leader exploded on Twitter.

TimR: Re: School buses sharing French and English kids.
This has been going on right here in Saskatchewan, and for many years. Children who attend Francophone schools have the right to French busing. I know of one student who is 42 miles from her school, and rides the bus 84 miles every day. There are some instances where the parents were (are) paid mileage to take their kids to school using their private vehicles when an English school bus drives by their farm twice a day. The reason is simple–they don’t want their kids exposed to English.
And trust me when I tell you that busing is just the tip of the iceberg. No government would touch this topic with a ten foot pole because the Francophone policies are usually based on Supreme Court Decisions. I’ve actually seen one school that had four students, staffed by two teachers and a janitor!! Gotta quit–my blood pressure is up!

Never underestimate those head hacking Swedes.
This is likely a corollary of being the rape capital of Europe, too.
“Rachel Notley won the debate.”
How did we as a nation get to the point that this is even possible? Nothing quite like being scolded by a rich white woman on how things need to be “more fair”.
Ugh.
Whenever I want to REALLY roll in some Liberal dogshit, I just google Francis Fox.
Now THAT’s bottom of the barrel territory……

Thanks for that. I wouldn’t have imagined he was still alive. He was reviewing officer when I graduated as as a 2lt from the Armour School at Gagetown in 1984.
Yesterday on the 5pm CBC New Brunswick news they featured a story about a memorial service for dead elm trees. I tried and tried to find a direct video link but failed.
“Recognizing this, a group has assembled to organize Ode to the Elms of Charlottetown: An Earth Day Remembrance, a sort of “tree memorial” being held Wednesday, April 22 at 7:00 p.m. at Trinity United Church on Prince Street in Charlottetown.
There will be songs and stories and art and remembrance. It’s not a “religious” event, but certainly it’s a spiritual one, inasmuch as the spirits of the fallen trees are very much on everyone’s minds.”
http://ruk.ca/content/remembering-fallen-elms
There was also this twitter link from CBC radip PEI: “More on the efforts in @ChtownPE to take down diseased elms, and we visit a memorial event to the trees, coming up at 715 on 96.1fm #pei”
7:05 April 23 http://www.cbc.ca/islandmorning/
Spiritual not religious indeed.

Just in case any of you are living under a rock, Omar Khadr has just been granted bail.
We will all live to regret her honor’s decision.
The United Church hasn’t been doing “religion” for several decades, at least, so nothing new there.

As a side note: you may be aware of a popular computer game called World of Tanks. One of the most sought after awards one can earn in that game is the Radley Walters medal, awarded to players who in one battle destroyed 8 or 9 out of 15 enemy tanks. His name lives forever and even penetrated popular (sort of) culture.

“On TFSA hike, opposition parties offer no good alternatives”
“So, it has come to this: The Tax-Free Savings Account, the most versatile and effective savings vehicle this country has ever seen, is now the preferred whipping boy of class-baiting opposition members of Parliament who have little or nothing to offer in its place.
It has become increasingly clear that those members, sprinkled on the Liberal and New Democrat opposition benches, have no idea how to come at the problem of Canadian under-saving. Rather than inspire us with their own plan, one that could and should use the TFSA as the strong foundation of a lifelong savings strategy for citizens, they’ve chosen instead to paint the Conservatives’ proposed contribution limit hike as a dastardly tool of their preferred boogie man, the “wealthy person” archetype.”

I am offended at the assumption that Prentice’s remark had special significance because the leader of the NDP is a woman. Would we have had the same response if the comment was directed to a male leader? Is it that we assume some level of truth when a female is involved? Now that’s insulting — not the remark, but the reaction.
I guess we will have to wait a long time to see a Canadian film about Radley-Walters, a sort of Canadian Fury.
