  1. Once again, thanks EBD for the great 60’s performance. Surfing songs were great road music in the 60’s. They emerged from the surfing culture of the California west coast.
Cars then were not yet equipped with any device where the drivers and/or passengers could instantly replay his or her favorite song. It wasn’t until the late 60’s that cars were equipped with 8 track players.
Ah but wait a moment. I had a friend who had a 52 Ford 2 Door hardtop with an ” underdash” 45 rpm record player. It played one side of a single and was equipped with ”shock absorbers” that prevented the record from skipping when we crossed a railroad track or a Texas gate. The model in question was a Norelco, described in this article.

  2. Not a surf tune. More along the lines of ‘tell Laura I love her’.
Surf songs had guitars with big reverb and echo. Tunes like Miserlou or something by Dick Dale and the Deltones.

  3. The filter blocked my comment on the Obamanation thread at about 12:15 Am. Could I have it released, please?

  4. Via Mark Steyn, this is what happens when unions don’t get their way. Very scary, read the whole thing.
Wisconsin’s Shame: ‘I Thought It Was a Home Invasion’

Cindy Archer, one of the lead architects of Wisconsin’s Act 10 — also called the “Wisconsin Budget Repair Bill,” it limited public-employee benefits and altered collective-bargaining rules for public-employee unions — was jolted awake by yelling, loud pounding at the door, and her dogs’ frantic barking. The entire house — the windows and walls — was shaking. She looked outside to see up to a dozen police officers, yelling to open the door. They were carrying a battering ram.

  6. RE: ”Not a surf tune.”
Do I have this right. The photo on the front of the album ”Surfer Girl” by ”The Sentinals” shows a guy and a gal holding a surf board, the song is named ”Surfin Tragedy,” they’re singing about the surf, and the song made #9 on a list of ”*top ten surfing songs” and yet it’s not a surfing tune.
    Damned dementia!!
    My apologies.

  7. By the way the Beach Boys still tour but the only surfing they do is on the internet looking for remedies for enlarged prostate.

  8. Vancouver the unhappy place? BC less satisfied than others? But it’s a semi-socialist paradise, non? Reminds me of the Redbook survey on sex back in the day (can’t find it on Google). Their survey found those women with the most satisfactory sex lives were also the most conservative, both maritally and socially. Redbook editors had only one explanation: conservatives had lightened up, so to say, which was why their women were so happy. Never did address the stupidity of that response: if a little lightening up gives so much pleasure and contentment, why doesn’t a lot of lightening up give even more of same?

  9. But Vancouver has everything that the socialists ask for: needle injection sites, rampant homelessness that’s left alone, diversity uber alles, the complete adoption of homosexuality in every form, far-left mayor, punitive provincial and city taxation, public transit on demand. What could they *possibly* have to bitch about now?

  11. Brian Lilley does an excellent job explaining the latest ISIS video. However, the “Freethinker” mentality in the comments section demonstrate that some are more interested in debating metaphysics rather than a religion.

And Walid Shoebat explains the latest Turkish investment in Amerikistan:

  13. Joe:
My point is, ‘surf music’ is a certain sound, unmistakeable. You hear one bar of a tune and you know it’s surf. You don’t have to listen to the lyrics to decide what it is.
    So we disagree. No problem.
One final point. It’s ok to have a difference of opinion but is it necessary to take a shot at everyone who you don’t agree with?
I don’t suffer from dementia Joe, I just have a different opinion.

  14. I don’t think Neeson is a blabber mouth. Maybe he thinks there are too many guns in the States — lot of people think that. They have a gun culture down there. Did he say anything about taking away people’s guns? That is a different matter. But too many — there are too many guns in the US, especially among gangs.

  15. My apologies to abtrapper. I was referring to my own dementia in a sarcastic way!!
I could have sworn it was a surfing tune!!
