The officer was called to a strong arm robbery. The robber wanted to fight.
The paid the price for being stupid.
Yes procedures. And the fact is they weren’t followed. And they are in place for a good reason. Procedures that do not allow for tampering with evidence. Which Wilson did by washing himself off before letting forensics do their job, document and take pictures. His hands were covered in blood and he was getting uncomfortable. Got that? Covered in blood. And yes it is his duty to surrender the weapon to forensics not to drive around with it and to have every opportunity to tamper with evidence. Surrendering his gun would identify him to the hostile mob? You mean the mob could not figure out that the cop with bloody hands might have something to do with the shooting? Moreover procedures require taping of the initial interviews with the shooter. That too wasn’t done. Because who cares about yet another ghetto scumbag?

Or that he was a 50 years old, a Coast Guard veteran, whose biggest crime appears be defaulting on child support payments and a 1987 assault charge. Oh my, clearly a volatile career criminal ready to blow.
I am surprised officer Cartman did not scream “he’s coming right for us” before firing the gun.
Yeah well, there used ta be such things as orders of “shoot to kill” inferring that shooting was used to incapacitate rather than kill.
Now getting wounded is cash for life….
