Obamareality

Thus spake POTUS’ press secretary:

Believe Josh Earnest or your lying eyes
Reuters reports, “Houthi militia forces in Yemen backed by allied army units seized an air base on Wednesday and appeared poised to capture the southern port of Aden from defenders loyal to President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, local residents said. After taking al-Anad air base, the Houthis and their military allies, supported by heavy armor, advanced to within 20 km (12 miles) of Aden, where Hadi has been holed up since fleeing the Houthi-controlled capital Sanaa last month.” This is another instance in which Iranian-backed forces have destabilized a government reasonably friendly to the West. Just a few months ago President Obama held Yemen up as a success story.
Naturally the White House press corps wanted the press secretary to acknowledge things had not gone as planned. But no. Josh Earnest had his talking point and was sticking with it (just like the talking point that Obama meant what he said when he called the shooting of innocents in a French kosher market “random”). For over three minutes Earnest refused to acknowledge their model was not a mess. Pressed again, he insisted this is still a “template that has succeeded.” An incredulous Jonathan Karl of ABC News continued to press him, but Earnest refused to admit the obvious, namely that the administration had failed in its leading from behind, light footprint.
It was embarrassing and unbelievable. But it was also instructive…

Right.

Yemen’s embattled president flees stronghold as Shiite rebels advance
Some parts of Aden remained held by forces loyal to President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, who abandoned his last-ditch refuge in the seaside city. But the troops appeared initially overwhelmed by rebel blitz, suggesting the insurgents were consolidating control of their latest major battlefield prizes, witnesses said.
The fall of Aden to the rebels, known as Houthis, would give the insurgents control of both the capital, Sanaa, and the country’s main sea gateway.
So now you will have Somali pirates raiding from the south and perhaps Yemeni pirates raiding from the north on the Gulf of Aden.
Splendid, if the goal was continued destabilization; I’m sure the Saudis will be pleased as they will now be sandwiched between destabilized Iraq and Yemen in the south.
And the Saudis have already reacted:
Saudi Arabia moves heavy arms to border with chaos-stricken Yemen

#Saudi army is amassing on #Yemen border for a possible invasion after green light from all #Gulf states minus #Oman
Obviously, a master stroke of success for the Obama-Nation™ if your objective is chaos.

  3. …refused to acknowledge their model was not a mess.
WTF is this pathological obsession with using the word, ‘models’?! Bill Clinton’s not still in office.

  4. This reminds me of something my late Dad used to say: “The operation was a success, but the patient died.”

  5. Furthermore…
“…refused to acknowledge their model was not a mess.”
…doesn’t even make sense, if Earnest was claiming everything went just hunky-dory.

  6. Truth is what has been presented by those Editorial Boards of the News Media. Just think Canadians will now be hearing the Truth as presented by Post Media’s Editorial Board (Y’all may know it as Gnat Post) from both the Gnat Post & Sun News with the merger? of the two News Outlets.
Now there will be the Socialist- Public Union- news print and the Librano-Liberal Party of Canada/Ontario-news print sources. The possibility of a Conservative newsprint source will not ever rise as the bureaucracy once again protects it’s vested interest in an ever expanding pressure on the Tax Payer.

  7. The only thing that surprises me is the glibness with which the message of ”success” is delivered. I have no doubt whatsoever that this is unfolding as planned. And if the WH has lost the WaPo, can the NYT be next?
Unless and until the press in the US – and Canada – take a turn to the right, this will go on and as a previous poster said, we’ll all be back in the 13th century.
Maybe if it were made clear that if these crazies continue their winning ways, institutions like the Kardashians and Wives of Atlanta are done. Maybe then, the mindless would wake up.

  8. And when it was over, the White House Press Corps (an Official Arm of the Democrat Party) and Josh went out for drinks and laughs like usual. Nothing will come of this. Nothing.

  9. The moniker Baghdad Josh would suit him much better.
“Obviously, a master stroke of success for the Obama-Nation™ if your objective is chaos.” or the most glaring example of a totally incompetent administration. Considering that Saul Alinsky and Bill Ayers are the mentors, I suspect that this continuing chaos is by design.

  10. It is plainly obvious to any disinterested observer that the Shiite consolidation of Iraq in north and now the Shiite control in the south of Yemen sets up a classic pincer envelopment of Saudi Arabia. The Shiite’s long standing enmity of the Sunnis, buys directly into the ‘twelver’ apocalyptic arrival of the Mahdi.
If one’s objective is to start a ‘hot war’ this would be the perfect scenario to provoke ‘lash out’ by the Saudis; to bring about the the long awaited Mahdi.
The Obama-Nation™ has chosen the Shiite side as demonstrated by Ben Shapiro’s recap analysis:

So not only do you get ‘Death to the Saudis’ but Death to America as well.

  11. I’ve been following this story for some time.
Hey, these guys aren’t even JV, they are Pee-Wee. The fact that they forced the US to withdraw its super-secret intelligence base and over-run the US air base and took loadsa military gear isn’t important.

  12. Problem is, Saudis can only beat up women. For war, they need Christians, as Saudis do not have the balls or capability to wage it.

  13. These “accidents” are actually successes for Obama. He is going to do as much damage as he can before leaving office. This is why he must be impeached.

  14. Speaking of monikers, I must confess I haven’t been able to take him seriously since I first heard his name really was “Earnest”.

  15. Well if things get too hot in Saudi Arabia, maybe they’ll move here. Price of land should go UP!

  16. Someone should ask Josh if they still believe Steiner is coming?
Because they are as deluded as the folks in that Berlin bunker.

  17. The only thing I see here is that none of us has a clue what’s going on. I can NOT for the life of me understand WHY Obama would cut loose the only civilized ally in the region, and throw in with the crazed mullahs of Iran. It makes zero sense.
Unless what’s actually at work is a Special Deal to let the Saudi princes take over the whole region. Iran destabilizes everything, then the Oil Sheiks move in and mop up the mess, leaving Iran off in a corner sucking their thumbs?
The big mystery is how Barry and the Dems make a buck out of picking a side in the Sunni vs Shia War. Because that’s what this is shaking down into. Sunni vs. Shia and genocide against everybody else.
One tiny point in Barry’s favor thought. He’s the first president since forever that managed to get the Saudi army out of its barracks.

  18. @Hans: “Obviously, a master stroke of success for the Obama-Nation™ if your objective is chaos.”
Maybe, just maybe, that IS the objective. If they keep fighting amongst themselves, what’s the downside? It used to be oil was a trump card. Not so much anymore though. Let them kill each other, let chaos reign!
Upon further thought, there is one downside ….. refugee immigrants.

  19. Reading the comments appended to the original article is instructive. Libs just don’t get it! Dear Leader cannot possibly be wrong and may not be criticized in any way, shape or form. It reminded me of Solzhenitsyn’s description of trying to talk to a communist “intellectual” who’d been imprisoned in one of the camps. S. said it was “like walking through a desert”; even while the “intellectual” was being worked and starved to death along with all the others who’d been imprisoned for no reason whatsoever, the idiot’s power of denial was so overwhelming that he could rationalize away his own physical destruction as part of some arcane intellectual exercise. The world may survive Barak Obama; it cannot survive a population that thinks Barak Obama is a good president.
