There are many depressing things about this incident but for me the most depressing is that a grown man (in his 30s) drove himself to the emergency for a fat lip. The British Bulldog is gone, replaced by a cowardly mouse.
Do we know why he fed him the knuckle sandwich?
Prediction…show’s ratings will nose-dive and it will be off the air within a year, tops.
What bugs me is in the press release that the BBC says it’s a church. No it’s not a church but it’s a business (government owned one at that). It just made a really bad business decision.
Never get between an entitled TV host and his steak-and-chips. 🙂
“It is understood a report into the so-called ‘fracas’ at a North Yorkshire hotel, concluded that presenter spent 20 minutes verbally abusing producer Oisin Tymon, before launching a 30 second physical assault on him.
The outburst came after Clarkson, who is one of the BBC’s best paid stars, was informed he could not have steak and chips after a day’s filming because the hotel where they were staying had stop serving hot food.”

Arse Biscuits!
“Do we know why he fed him the knuckle sandwich?”
Apparently, din-dins wasn’t ready on time, so dear Jeremy climbed out of his pram and smacked someone. I say this with sadness; I’m a Clarkson fan.
I suppose it wouldn’t have any retroactive effect with the BBC if Jeremy said he was a pedophile or was thinking of perverting to Islam?
I hadn’t read the details. Now that I have, I have to agree that the apparent reason for Clarkson’s assault really does smack (no pun intended) of a sense of entitlement.
It’s possible that tension between the two men had been building up for years for other reasons, and that the, umm, cold food was just an excuse/trigger, but it still looks bad.
I cannot WAIT … to watch Clarkson’s new Top Gear-esque show on a cable network. Clarkson IS Top Gear … it will be rubbish w/o him. Or worse … it will look like Top Gear America … uggggh. Isn’t it funny how REAL MEN are now the iconoclasts in our effeminate society ?
I liked Clarkson, he was a good host for Top Gear. I despise the BBC in general.
But on this occasion Clarkson was a complete ass and got what he deserved. If my son behaved like that as a grown man I would be embarassed.
Clarkson always had a pretentious and patronizing air about him, even when interviewing very knowledgeable people like Jay Leno.
It was fun while it lasted, but good riddance to him. He can go cry a tear with Ghomeshi.
Fan of the show and fan of Clarkson, but nobody should be able to act like a fool and get away with it. Too be to fail, too big to sack, our society needs to deal with institutions and individuals that cross the line, no exceptions. Lance Armstrong, Jian Ghomeshi, Nixon, dealt with, Dodge, Goldman Sachs, still managing to skate the consequences of their mistakes and misdeeds.
Hopefully Clarkson learns from this, eats some humble pie and is able to bounce back with something new and interesting.

Clarkson for Prime Minister!
The show’s star fed the show’s producer a knuckle sandwich because the producer failed to arrange for the star to be fed a steak.
I guess Clarkson didn’t have the “Big Ears Teddy” defence. His departure will kill the show for the BBC and it will be resurrected on an independent channel.
Die state broadcasters everywhere.
I hope they give the job to Piers Morgan and he goes all hybrid and electric.
I’m a fan of Top Gear, and Clarkson especially, but you can’t assault people because you don’t get what you want for dinner. Dumping him is the right thing to do. I’d be willing to bet, though, that if a popular left-wing personality had done the same thing, he’d just have to do some bullshit “anger management” course and issue a bogus apology, and he’d be back on the air in two weeks.
Richy, biggest and most corrupt business in the world, RC church
Yeah well, Clark apparently popped Morgan…..as he said the remarkable thing was women asked why and men asked where……
Hippy punching is never wrong…..

People have been pointing out that a few years ago an ex Director General of the BBC bit one of his fellow employees in the newsroom in an unprovoked attack. This did not prvent his subsequent promotion to the top.
While I don’t know what Clarksons politics are, I would suspect his huge popularity comes from his ability to identify with the average viewer – much like Don Cherry connects with his audience.
My guess is that Clarkson is an anthema to the corporate culture of the BBC just like Cherry is to the CBC.
This just gave them the excuse they needed, and it was in no way difficult for the higher ups who covered for Jimmy Savile all those years to dump Clarkson.
Being government subsidized, there are no business decisions at the BBC or CBC, just political ones
Could someone please tell me why I should care about this?
Because it’s the most popular show in the history of the known universe.
