E-Cigarettes save lives

Two pieces of news recently released. First, well, what do you know, e-cigarettes help you quit. This backs up this this Canadian study.

Among daily vapers, three quarters said they were still smokers (regular or not), while the other quarter was made up of ex-smokers.

Now, for those worried about e-cigarette use by non-smokers, can you add those percentages up for me?
Second, it seems that e-cigarette vapour is about as dangerous as air.

Analysis of the smoke from conventional cigarettes showed that the mainstream cigarette smoke delivered approximately 1500 times more harmful and potentially harmful constituents (HPHCs) tested when compared to e-cigarette aerosol or to puffing room air. The deliveries of HPHCs tested for these e-cigarette products were similar to the study air blanks rather than to deliveries from conventional cigarettes; no significant contribution of cigarette smoke HPHCs from any of the compound classes tested was found for the e-cigarettes. Thus, the results of this study support previous researchers’ discussion of e-cigarette products’ potential for reduced exposure compared to cigarette smoke.

  1. “it seems that e-cigarette vapour is about as dangerous as air.”
Smoking a real cigarette outside is also about as dangerous as air to bystanders and passersby yet jurisdictions are falling over themselves to pass legislation banning smoking in parks, within a certain distance from entrances, etc.
As I’ve said a thousand times …. this has nothing whatsoever to do with health and is entirely about control and the insatiable need of some to give the appearance of being progressive.
The acceptance of e-cigarettes is a long, long way down the road and unfortunately, will probably never happen.

  2. This is not about toxins, it’s not about helping anyone quite or not quit … this is strictly about one group of zealots leftist control freaks forcing another group, smokers to stop smoking … against the will of many of them who are simply too addicted to quit no matter what … however, the high cost due to taxation is something that vaping is cutting into … governments don’t like that so they will ban the vape. …. It’s a mixed bag of mega smoke taxes vs the do gooders who think they are saving smokers from themselves.
It’s not easy being a leftist, there are so many conflicting purposes to everything they do …. how do they sleep.

  3. I just don’t get this. It is like people use cultural conditioning more than rational thought or something… Naaah!

  4. Lance, don’t be a dupe of Big Vape. All they want is your money, regardless of harm to women, minorities and the environment. Try dip.

  5. Just read on Global Okanagan that the B.C. government is about to bring down highly restrictive legislation on E-cigarettes.They are apparently concerned about the harmful effects on Chilllll-dren.
I posted that perhaps Provincial governments are more concerned with losing about $6 a pack of cigarette taxes if too many people use “E” cigs to quit smoking.
Follow the money, follow the moolah, te dum te dee…..

  6. “E-Cigarettes save lives” No no no.You have it all wrong. Only big gubermint can save lives. Do I need a sarc tag?

  7. E cigs are a great blessing. I expect eventually the variety and quality will far exceed those of tobacco.
