  1. On this topic…
Traditionally younger people, living in fairy-land, are more liberal than older people. Young people tend to vote NDP and Liberal because they’ve been indoctrinated to believe that jobs, houses and money grow on trees, and that it’s the system that is holding people back, and that if we all just hand over all our money to the government then the government will create social and economic programs that will fix everything and create prosperity for everyone.
As they grow older they are mugged by reality and become more conservative. They get up early for work and they look around the workplace and realize that their fairy-tale ideas were false.
What’s shocking is that recent polls in Canada are showing that there are more young people polling conservative than ever before, which bucks the longstanding trend.

“The two polls were also in lock step in age breakdowns, with the Conservatives narrowly ahead among the youngest cohort (unusual as that is), the Liberals ahead among those aged roughly 30 to 65, and the Conservatives in front among older Canadians.”
This bodes well, although it’s not clear to me if it’s also because the NDP are stealing away Liberal votes leaving the Cons in front.

  2. Oh oh, so you mean the six years worth of my time and $150,000 in student debt and you are only now telling me my degree in LGBTTQQFAGPBDSM won’t get me a cushy, six figure job where I get to travel the world, get invited to the White House to have my photo taken with Obama?
Well that sucks. I have been conned!

  3. Don’t laugh. It happened to me…or rather, my daughter.
I THOUGHT I was a good parent. Until that day 10 years ago when my daughter came home with a long face and told me she was dropping out of the sciences at university. Worse, she was instead going to get a degree in ‘fine arts’ from some no-name vocational school. ‘The profs are sooooooo cool!!!!’ How does a grumpy, cranky old father sell 4 years of blood, sweat and tears to a good kid being promised a meaningful career by some trendy self-proclaimed academic? How do you sell homework, fatigue and cramming to a kid that wants a soft, easy cop-out…with lots of time for parties and socializing thrown in?
I was going to try but before I could the door bell rang and my idiot liberal in-laws walked in. And of course, they knew better about everything than I did: “yes you CAN make a living in fine arts. Yes you DO need a degree to do it. Yes you CAN cop out and still do well. Yes you CAN treat your idiot conservative father with contempt and derision, he’s just a great big mean poopey head!” They defended my daughter’s decision, and such was their counsel to my daughter. I have never forgiven them for it. They were born and raised in times when a high school diploma wasn’t crucial to a career, and any education was good education. A high school diploma back then would get you into a good job, and a university degree in anything meant a life on Easy Street. Screw them, they aren’t allowed in my home anymore. God damn those two idiots to hell.
When they left I told my daughter she was in for all this. 4 years of school, student loans, and crappy jobs on graduation. Captain Capitalism summed it up correctly when he said ‘Your kid is financially better off living in the basement, drinking beer and smoking weed than taking 4 years to complete a liberal arts degree.
My daughter took five. Upon graduation, she announced she was a militant lesbian, flipped me and my wife the bird – and left to pursue a life of fame and fortune in Vancouver. I hear she is a part time bicycle mechanic and lives in an apartment on some lower east side froot loop. She’s thirty years old and still trying to be a special snowflake. Hope it works out for her…
Character is forged and built in adversity. It is where respect is EARNED, and where one learns to temper ability and courage with modesty and humility.

  4. Thanks for the inspiration. Here is what it inspired:
“Character is forged and built in Adversity, not University.”

  5. Hope you’re not counting on any of these “selfies” to support your Fed pension payments or Vet benefits.
Boomer – blame has been their game since they were old enough to drink whine.

  6. “LGBTTQQFAGPBDSM” Yep! a fan club gathered together and easily recruited by Porn talent scouts. Some will get six figure contracts… Others will have the stigma follow them for life.
What other, than porn, career path would a member of LGBTTQQFAGPBDSM be planning? Education?
