    In 1917 the Russian railway unions initially supported the Socialist Revolutionary, Bolshevik, and Menshevik parties, but turned against the Bolsheviks after their agenda became clearer. The Bolos arrested and shot the railway union leadership and replaced it with their own people.
    Look for the mayor to initiate a shake up of the police force through his flunky commissioner.

  6. Not much respect for unions and that is all what the civil service is about. That said most workers will follow/respect good leadership. Politicos are in most cases lacking and civil service management is politicized in many cases to actually working against the public good.
    These same cops who turn their backs are the same ones who will feel no qualms about claiming a disability pension on retirement, deserved or not. Estimated that 85% of police and firemen claim disability on retirement. It is another civil service perk that the taxpayer who pays their cost cannot get. Top up the cheque. I am sure that non union management is doing the same thing.
    When a balanced budget can be ignored and deficit spending accepted who is responsible? Ultimately it is the voter who keeps putting these people in.

  7. The Left and activist Blacks don’t want to accept responsibility. Two NYPD cops died because of hatred stoked up against them through vicious public protest messages calling for police blood. There’s blood on the hands of Sharpton, de Blasio, Holder, Obama and ilk. Now they’re using the extreme disapproval of the NYPD of their own mayor – the one person that should be standing up for them during a time of crisis like this as a straw man to deflect blame for the dead cops. This will do nothing but push people apart. Nothing will get better as long as black leadership points their fingers at everyone else but themselves for the black violence epidemic.

  24. No great surprise, as respect is earned not simply extended by virtue of the Mayor’s office.
    Given de Blasio has managed to inflame sentiment rather than building ‘bridges’ to the policing community; it is little wonder that the NYPD expressed a very public rebuff.

    If I was one of the family/friends of assassinated officers, I think I might take a little more cold comfort, in the police turning their backs, then some commie asshole reading a speech prepared for him by some spin doctor.

There’s not a urban police force in the world that doesn’t have a few psychopaths in the department but most cops are just doing a job that entails being a buffer between normal societal expectations and the human garbage that respects nothing and no one. The behavioral direction comes from the leadership as does the weeding out of the bad apples in the force. DeBlasio is the primary leader and chose sides even when he was campaigning in vowing to reign in the entire police force rather than the few bad apples. That’s what you get when only 24% of voters turn out. You get a micro managing fool whose first mission as mayor is to eliminate horse drawn carriages in Central Park rather than put out a directive that selling individual cigarettes on such a small scale is nothing that should involve the police. No more stop and frisk either if the driver is black. Such political correctness, considering blacks commit most of the crimes. How in hell can any police department support such a idiot even before he chose to side with the rabble rather than those who put their lives on the line daily to keep the peace ? Respect and disrespect are both earned. He has worked hard to gain their disrespect. Already too late to turn it around. This idiot can even make Bloomberg look good. Nah….I take that back.
