Last year saw the rise of a new narrative of self-loathing Leftists concerning “Male Privilege” involving video games. Well known feminist, Anita Sarkeesian, produced this video on the subject. It’s not clear whether those in her video are just actors playing the roles of real men or simply overgrown Leftist males with daddy issues.
Ms. Sarkeesian is not without controversy. Some have suggested that she is getting quite wealthy playing the role of the permanent victim.
Canadian vlogger Karen Straughan recently made two videos on the subject, here and here. They’re well worth watching!
I can’t help but think that the hashtag #FirstWorldProblems was invented just for twits like Sarkeesian.
I notice she hasn’t got the guts to allow comments on her video.

Anita Sarkeesian and the gamergate non-issue are distracting from the the real newsworthy item: the video game industry, like the tabletop wargaming, roleplaying gaming, and miniatures gaming industries before it, is contracting from a big boom to a cottage industry dominated by one or two specialized creators and a constantly changing host of small studios and independents. People are only paying attention to A-Sark because the industry is dying and in a state of panic. Were it still booming, or even healthy, the entire industry would just ignore her as the amateur grifter she is instead of being afraid her “criticism” would cost them precious customer dollars.
That’s because she is ‘womanspreading’…the obnoxious ideological cultural twaddle that males are universally ‘privileged’ boors.
It’s FemiNazi rubbish run amok trying to ensure ‘cultural conformism’.
She’ll probably try to cite you for the crime of playing Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, a game whose premise is pillage and plunder; but is missing the rape of the Sabine women…because you might…horrors…actually found a family in the absence of state interference!

Somebody in very, very high office wants Anita Sarkeesian to succeed. Siccing the FBI on a bunch of gamer fanboys is swatting flies with a sledge hammer. You don’t do that without an ulterior motive.
Should this continue, the only games available will be pirated Japanese ones pulled off Pirate Bay 2.0 or whatever black flag operation is running in five years. Everything American will be banned.
Probably won’t notice much difference anyway, 99% of games these days are cr@p. Minecraft remains the best game out there, so I’m told anyway.
