Copyright laws for songs and movies are absurd. Copyright protection begins at its creation and lasting for the life of the creator plus an additional 70 years after the creator’s death. In the case of a joint work, the term of copyright would end 70 years after the death of the last surviving creator. The protection afforded is now generational.
In contrast a person who invents some device, drug or process is only afforded protection from 12 to 17 years before others can use the invention without paying the inventor.
It is time to bring music and movie copyright in line with other intellectual property protection.
