The Decline And Fall Of The American Empire

“Democrats need to embrace Hollywood because this is where they need to come to learn how to tell a story.” Michael Moore

And the title of today’s story is Surrender;

Paramount Pictures has apparently forced the cancellation of planned screenings of Team America: World Police across the U.S. in the coming days, presumably over fears of the bogeymen from North Korea.

  1. Next will be newspapers and news outlets. Although MSNBC will almost certainly be left alone.
This is probably the most gutless move since Chamberlain.

  2. Perfectly reasonable, why piss off your closest ally and biggest trading partner?
What a bunch of gutless wonders are the heroes of Hollywood, they’d make a movie celebrating the assassination of George Dubya Bush, but cave in because the most delusional lunatic politician/regime on the planet objects!

George Bush assassination film wins top award
So they pull a film because it presents an assassination of a regime leader that routinely starves their own people; but they hand out prizes to filmmakers who depict the assassination of their own leader.
You mean there is no prize for the Kim Jong Un snuff film…?
I’m guessing the Obama-Nation™ is going to share full diplomatic relations with Stalinist North Korea in the very near future. No doubt an “ICBM exchange” is in the offing…
That should put the military industrial complex on full alert; as appeasement flowers like springtime.
    Do Stalinists celebrate Christmas?
I thought the Kim Jong family were long time American movie buffs…

  4. Absolutely ridiculous. It’s all about litigation. No theater complex wants to be sued if something happens. But really, in the grand scheme of things, what could happen? Does NK have enough spies embedded in North America to actually pull anything off? I seriously doubt that.

  5. Was the movie industry worried about litigation with the George Bush assassination flick British director Gabriel Range’s “Death of a President”?
It stirred up a strong reaction even before it premiered at the festival, but it won the Prize of the International Critics.
So if they renamed the flick “Death of a Dictator” it would pass appeasement/litigation muster?
It’s political codswallop writ large as black farce.

  6. This is interesting.
Wonder if people remember the time of Reagan’s presidency.
There was a guy on CBS news that got to read what went on in the world every day. The mass media went out of their way to find something bad about the president, about how he is ruining the country. Used to watch the US news from curiosity, to see what they talk about, for weeks and weeks the CBS went around the country to find on bad story “de jour” (a little bit of sophistry here).
One of their “finds “ was that Reagan, being a former actor quoted things from movies, like “win one for the Gipper”, a line from one of his own movie. He also quoted Eastwood, like, “go ahead, make my day” and others.
Well, the mass media found it lame that Reagan is quoting movies, the drift was that he lives in another world, not the current one.
Now we have the film studios with mass media help, living according to what the movies are about. Of course this is now a serious business, during Reagan’s time it was fantasy world according to them.
The new generation of adults, don’t know nothing about Reagan era. What they do know from the alternate reality school lessons.
    Anyway,
It seems to this observer that the US of A is rapidly picking pace to oblivion. While the flyover country is leading basically normal American life, it is separated from the two left coasts by a gigantic chasm, the mass media are in charge of propaganda constructed by the political media complex, apparently scripted in Hollywood.
Growing up in communist country, it is uncanny to watch the ruling class of the US behaving much the same as the communist hierarchy of that time.
The urban population is so isolated from the rest of the country, they have become easy to manipulate for the wishes of the ruling class.
The point is the Americans are getting scared of their own shadow.

  7. Wired magazine has a good piece about this “North Korea” thing. This tale is a false one put out by the Americans for some reason it appears. It just smells of fish.

  8. So … the NKoreans ( and their friends ) turned USA into France with the help of corporate Hollywood and Japan.
And how lame azzed is Sony for letting themselves get hacked like this.
    Pass the popcorn please.

  9. How about a movie in which North Korea is nuked or Kim Jong melts away like what happened in RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK

  10. The scuttlebutt is that elements in S Korea(not necessarily government) are busy seeking someone who can provide a pirated copy of the offending movie.
The result is that the entire globe may get to watch this movie for free.
    The NORKs shoulda kept silent.

  11. Whadaya say we make a video about Li’l Kim boinking Elizabeth May.
Man, that oughta get the nukes flyin’!

  12. Jim Carrey proves he is stupid by opening his piehole saying nasty things about gun owners just proof of what dope and booze makes a a person a idiot who opens their big yap and inserts their foot

  13. “Does NK have enough spies embedded in North America to actually pull anything off? I seriously doubt that.
You had better up that doubt. He’s called the Chimp-in-Chief.

  14. Obama will be all over this since the Hollywood community sends him megabucks and fawn all over him like little girls at Belieber concerts. Even though I don’t care about the film much I do go to plenty of movies and I think it would be interesting if everyone boycotted movies until this one hits the big screen. I’d like to make Sony think about what they have done and where this scare tactic is going to lead. Just like everything else the copycat syndrome will be in full swing. If only I knew how to use social media.
