Next time, stick to music;
Last month, Rolling Stone published a story titled “A Rape on Campus” by Sabrina Rubin Erdely, which described a brutal gang rape of a woman named Jackie at a University of Virginia fraternity house; the university’s failure to respond to this alleged assault – and the school’s troubling history of indifference to many other instances of alleged sexual assaults. The story generated worldwide headlines and much soul-searching at UVA. University president Teresa Sullivan promised a full investigation and also to examine the way the school responds to sexual assault allegations. […]
In the face of new information, there now appear to be discrepancies in Jackie’s account, and we have come to the conclusion that our trust in her was misplaced. We were trying to be sensitive to the unfair shame and humiliation many women feel after a sexual assault and now regret the decision to not contact the alleged assaulters to get their account. We are taking this seriously and apologize to anyone who was affected by the story.
More here.

Well. She just set rape victims rights back a thousand years. No wonder women are afraid to come forward. And BTW, RS, shouldn’t you also be investigating the AGW scam artists at UVA? No. As Kate says, stick to music, except you haven’t even done to shite on that lately either. Maybe dual headline; not waiting for the dinos?
“Well. She just set rape victims rights back a thousand years. ”
Naw…that was Al Sharpton and Tawana Brawley….
Jackie was simply raising awareness of a horrible, if imaginary, problem.
The crude facts are irrelevant to progzillas.
You know why journalism is not a profession? Because there is absolutely no penalty for malfeasance. Zero, zilch, nada.
Has anyone forwarded this to Shiny Pony? Seems to me he went off half cocked and ruined the lives and careers of a couple of MPs over some unsubstantiated allegations too.
Washington Post article entertains us with the usual progressive prattle… “While the details of this one case may have been misreported, this does not erase the somber truth this article brought to light”.
Hey, if you’re going to shed light on a sombre truth maybe you should find a real case.
Is all campus sexual assault faked?
In many cases, I wouldn’t doubt it.
In this case the frats didn’t even have a party the night the alleged incident took place.
Jackie is a lying whore.
Blogger Instapundit, a law professor, believes University President Teresa Sullivan should resign for collectively punishing the entire fraternity system based on a fictional story printed on Rolling Stone arse wipe.
Imagine a university president so culturally degraded and intellectually degenerate that she considers Rolling Stone a reliable and respectable source of information…
Hey, it’s ok though. Rolling Stone was just trying to be “sensitive to unfair shame and humiliation.” Now isn’t that just breathtakingly hypocritical? What about the “unfair shame and humiliation” of men falsely accused — in this and so many other instances? After being subjected to the Left’s “2 minute hate” where does a man go to get his reputation back? I guess a mealy mouthed “Whoops, our bad! :(” is supposed to make up for being denounced by the Left’s near total ownership of media?
Oh how I’ve come to LOATHE that expression “raising awareness”…!
These poor buggers will be carrying this around with them for the rest of their lives. Just like the Duke lacrosse players.
Beefy, I expect you might appreciate the opportunity to reconsider your referring to members of UVA’a Greek culture as “poor buggers”. After all, UVA’s Phi Beta Psi fraternity appears to be in a rather litigious mood, and rightly so.

Frigging Faked,
but Accurate…
So this was not a rape rape then?
“culturally degraded and intellectually degenerate “.
A great turn of phrase, and one I may borrow, but I think by now it applies to most of academia, the media, the legal profession and the political class, not just the president of U of V.
Hey, its a teachable moment, so no apologies then. How did it go? Apart from the fact that it was absolutely false it was true?
I hope the lawsuits against the woman and R.S. are coming soon.
No man is EVER “safe” from accusations of rape. It’s axiomatic that they are guilty because, well, because they are men. On the other hand, women are, well, women. Sex is their weapon of conquest while vengeance and victim-hood are their weapons of destruction.
And, in spite of the NUMBER of accusers, I continue to have serious doubts about the guilt of Bill Cosby. Maybe they had sex with Cosby but that doesn’t make it an unwelcome assault…..(see above). Women are attracted to powerful and successful men. It’s a built in biological reproductive strategy and rightly so.
And least you think I have a cavalier attitude toward rape, I advise you that I am so appalled by it that I can not even stand to see it in a movie. Really. I have to turn away. It actually makes me almost ill. The rape scene in “Straw Dogs”, an old (1971) Dustin Hoffman movie comes to mind as I write this. Horrible!
And here I had Progressive media up on such a pedestal, too.
Cosby? It is simply odd that not one of the large number of supposed victims complained to police. I suspect they had to spend many years rationalizing their “victimhood.”
she was just “writing” her CV so she would qualify as a NDP MP
Dave, the accusations of some of these women and a the B Cosby thing have been around for quite some time. The story line on date rape drugging chimes true for me. But then again I know of some women who claim to have been raped and they and I don’t agree on the definition of rape, but with Cosby, there are just too many.
I believe that with aspiring woman actress/showbiz star sex, the degree of rape is in direct proportion to how her career went after she boffed the star.
If she got the big break in her career that she sought when she lured the guy into bed, it’s never mentioned until she writes her memoirs, but if he doesn’t help her out, it’s “I was raped thirty years ago”.
No one seems to want to admit that many, and I DO mean MANY, women use their sexual favors to work their way up the ladder of success, and this occurs in all fields, whether it’s in showbiz, broadcasting, politics or corporate venues.
I have seen a lot of cases where women accused men of sexual crimes and later were proven to be liars, but I have never seen one of these women prosecuted for what IS a serious crime. I wonder why that is.
I hardly beleive that a liberal rag like R.S. will ever support a rape victim to be allowed armed self defense since they featured Blooming Idiot Micheal Bloomberg in their mag and have been pushing this Global Warming poppycock off on us likea snale oil salesman pushing some phonie medical cure
Nope. No matter what they do they will be ostracized by a segment of the population for the rest of their lives. Feminists are an unforgiving lot.

Stupid Canadian Butch. Nothing is “necessary” except existence, from which all devolves, including humanity and the ability to make inanimate matter conscious.
And why is existence necessary? Because non-existence does not exist, by definition. It’s almost biblical – in the beginning was the word.
To this day, there are still some idiots in Women’s Studies or Comparative Literature departments in universities who believe the Duke lacrosse players were guilty.
Lotta people viciously condemned those who were skeptical of the story. That’s a lot of crow on a lot of dinner plates.
The Guardian:
..wait for it…
Ya know, there are brief periods when I think the head-chopping clit-snippin beardos in shortpants are onto something.
Ha-! Rolling Stone has about as much to do with music anymore as does MTV. So, not much…
I don’t always comment on this board but this sure seems awful:
Because of the sensitive nature of Jackie’s story, we decided to honor her request not to contact the man she claimed orchestrated the attack on her nor any of the men she claimed participated in the attack for fear of retaliation against her. In the months Erdely spent reporting the story, Jackie neither said nor did anything that made Erdely, or Rolling Stone’s editors and fact-checkers, question Jackie’s credibility.

I’m not a journalism major but I can’t believe anyone would ever think that they should publish a story like this in a national magazine without attempting to contact the people accused of the rape. I’ll give some kudos to Rolling Stone for realizing their mistake and not doubling it down but this seems ridiculous from a common sense perspective. If the frat brothers actually raped her and all of the details are published in a national magazine, the frat brothers might still retaliate. It’s not like they’re going to be confused about the identity of the “victim.”
It is interesting where this is going. Absence of clearly consensual intimacy before or outside of a formally acknowledged marriage. Anything else would be too risky, prostitution notwithstanding.
Don’t “say no”, just say “Rape!”
Rolling Stone recently named U2’s Songs of Innocence the best album of 2014. Maybe they could find something else to stick to.
Gang rapists should all be either caperorated or just hanged in a mass hanging
Agreed but I would feel really bad if I later found I had hanged an innocent. I might find I needed to hang myself.
R.S. is no diffrent then People magazine just another propeganda mag for the left TIME,THE WEEK, and the now defunked NEWSWEEK just all leftists propeganda
Aw, c’mon, that’s not fair – People Magazine is far more credible than Rolling Stone.
They only ever report on the Kardashians’ latest shopping sprees, after all, and they have a ton of photographic proof of those claims thanks to the paparazzi.
