In an email dated October 4, 2011, Attorney General Holder’s top press aide, Tracy Schmaler, called Attkisson “out of control.” Schmaler told White House Deputy Press Secretary Eric Schultz that he intended to call CBS news anchor Bob Schieffer to get the network to stop Attkisson.

  2. Re: Whopee John Wilfahrt!
The name is interesting–however a little research shows that it is real!
He does play a great polka!! This is what Wikipedia says:
John Anthony Wilfahrt, (May 11, 1893 – June 15, 1961), the eldest son of John Wilfahrt and Barbara Portner, was a professional polka musician who recorded with Vocalion and from 1934, Decca. He went by the moniker “Whoopee John.” Wilfahrt was born in New Ulm, Minnesota and got his start playing the accordion at local gatherings and concerts in and around his community. In the 1920s Whooppee John and his band relocated to Saint Paul, Minnesota where they became regulars at live shows and on the radio. Wilfahrt first began recording commercially in the 1920s and would sign with the newly formed U.S. division of Decca Records in 1934 as the label’s second act. (The first act signed to the label being Bing Crosby.) “Whooppee John Wilfahrt and his band enjoyed popularity through the 1940s and 50s on the polka circuit. Over the course of his professional career Wilfahrt would record nearly 1,000 songs, some of the most popular being “Mariechen Waltz” and “Clarinet Polka.”
He died in 1961 at age 68 years of a heart attack.

But if you look at the map at the bottom of the story, you’ll notice that the protesters were working directly East of East Hastings St. I’ll bet anyone that the Greenies brought in a load off what is know as the asshole of the West Coast! Want to see what life is like in East Hastings! Check this NFB documentary out!

  4. Canada is in good hands. The Conservatives won both bye-elections.
    The CBC is perplexed why?
To add fuel to the fire, Nirmala Naidoo will be Liberal candidate in Calgary.
Did you not talk with Barb Higgins, gal?

  5. Global has jumped on the media camel.
” Foreign Affairs lets $125M in aid to poor countries lapse ”
    http://globalnews.ca/news/1683620/foreign-affairs-lets-125m-in-aid-to-poor-countries-lapse/
The long and short of this is that the gov’t had 125 million unspent dollars returned to the treasury that were not spent on foreign aid.
Apparently, that is a bad thing.
    Why?
    Well,not sure.
But Marc Garneau and some U of O professor tells us that it is bad.So it must be.
Maybe Global should have asked someone who had information?
    But they did not.
Someone may have told them why the funds were not given. That would not do.
Stupid Conservatives supporting their “beer and popcorn” base.
Is that just really bad journalism, or is the media party doing what they do?

  6. Years ago, I thought that there was something going on between Claire and the Mansbridge.
It is not my concern if a couple of my vintage have an attraction.A tip of the toque to them.
But if Peter was parlaying his prestige to pillage the ‘proletarians’, woo hoo, the CBC has some explaining to do.
Peter would be smart to avoid the ” well, Jian was doing it too” defense.

  7. Interesting story:

Rommel saved me from being shot as a spy – and even served me cigarettes and beer! WW2 veteran, 95, reveals astonishing story of his survival after pre-D-Day mission
Captain Roy Wooldridge was captured during covert mission in May 1944
But instead of shooting him, top German general spoke to him personally
Rommel gave him food and a stein of lager at Nazi chateaux in Brittany
He then let him go – to survive the final year of WWII in a POW camp
95-year-old of Hendy, Glamorgan, revealed story on Antiques Roadshow
He had been caught during a covert night-time reconnaissance mission ahead of the D-Day landings. Without uniform or identification due to the secrecy of the operation, he was treated as a spy and told he would be shot.
But Field Marshal Rommel requested a meeting with the new prisoner and asked the Brit if there was anything he needed.
Captain Wooldridge said he replied: ‘A good meal, a pint of beer and a packet of cigarettes.’ To his astonishment he was then ushered into Rommel’s mess, where all three items were waiting for him.
Capt Wooldridge, now 95, saved the empty cigarette packet as a souvenir and will recount his adventure on Sunday’s edition of Antiques Roadshow.
He said: ‘I was told that Rommel always wanted to meet men who had been doing something unusual when they were captured.
‘I was meant to have been shot. I was told on several occasions during my interrogation that is what would happen unless I talked.
‘Hitler had issued orders that commandos were to be shot but Rommel declined to obey that instruction. Rommel saved my life. He was a very fine German and a clean fighter.’

  8. Absolutely correct Warren.
Too bad to see it happen, hope it isn’t a sign of senility.
Definitely a sign of being “Ottawashed”
Hey Preston, a tax is a tax is a tax.
    And CO2 is plant food.
The rest is a leftard scam.

  9. A real howler from Mr. Kinsella yesterday:
    http://www.edmontonsun.com/2014/11/20/premiers-deserve-a-little-respect-from-stephen-harper
Forget about all the white-washes in the column, and partisan contrivances surrounding this business (including Deb Matthews’s pathetic display on Don Martin last evening), these appear to me to be the few relevant facts:
    – The Province of Ontario, as represented by Ms. Wynne’s government, has an unsustainable financial position, with a $12.5 billion annual deficit (larger, apparently, than all other provinces and the Dominion government taken together), despite large increases in annual transfers from Ottawa and large provincial tax increases over the life of the current Liberal administration;
    and
    – The Province of Ontario, as represented by Mr. Harris’s government, eliminated an unsustainable financial position inherited from its predecessor, led by a certain Bob Rae, despite large reductions in annual transfers from Ottawa and large provincial tax decreases, and large increases in health care and education spending.
Details, details. Ms. Wynne and her ilk hope to bully Mr. Harper into a bail-out. Mr. Harper ought not to cave, and I’m sure he won’t. The real lesson from the recent Ontario election, which the Ontario Liberals and Mr. Trudeau, Jr. are loath to admit, and which is becoming increasingly uncomfortable for them (judging by their increasing agitation), was to get the NDP out of a position whereby blame for the financial mess could be shifted onto the latter.

  10. Swiss bankers will weep. Foreign aid, a way of transferring money from poor people in rich countries to rich people in poor countries.

  11. Preston is joining the Green Wags and Progressives, let him enjoy his popularity with the Media Party who attacked him mercilessly during his time in politics. Hope he enjoys being a media tool.
Sad really but that’s where jealousy can take you, right to the pits. As he’s gunning for Harper he’s shooting himself in the foot.
