Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

What fits into Mother Russia?
Is that a MILF question?
Edward beat me to it. (I lose… comrade.)
But here it is in about 2 minutes of video:

From Wikipedia:
Greenland
2,166,086 km2
Russia
17,098,242 (Crimea not included) km2
Canada
9,984,670 km2
Africa
30,221,532 km2
So Africa is 1.8 times the area of Russia.
Those maps always pissed me off for the political distortion. They have the equator fully 2/3 s from the top. I saw a church printed world map in the early 90’s that I have always tried to get a copy of that balanced all the distortions, looked very odd at the time to my mind but I still wish i could find one. I suspect that the left wants greenland that size in peoples mind because its melting!
What? Hey, where’s Canada?
Most people choose to look at a highly distorted map view of ‘the world’. Much more accurate representations of a spherical surface on a flat plane are available. One of the best was invented by Bucky Fuller, called the Dymaxion projection.

Size and distance are true. Unfortunately most people can’t wrap their minds around anything but “North is Up”, and can’t grasp the elegant simplicity of the Dymaxion world view.

That’s likely the Robinson Map Projection

Downloaded EDB’s map he linked the other day and now this comparison. VERY cool. Stuff you do not see every day. Thanks.
Yeah well, old Piri Reis maps are probably the least distorted.

there be a reason I have a small globe sitting on one of my coffee tables!!
Wish I could locate the globe I saw about 10 years ago, about 40 inches in diameter and $1000 in cost, but excellent detail.
