Nova Scotia is planning on banning the sale of flavoured e-liquid.
The Nova Scotia Legislature just passed the 2nd reading of Bill 60 and sent it to the Law Ammendments Committee. If there is no public response to this committee – it will likely go forward as is and become law.
If you live in Nova Scotia and have issues with this, this thread has good instructions for helping to stop this.

It’s important to ban that stuff.
Otherwise, er… kids might NOT SMOKE cigarettes or something?
Gawd these nanny types are getting annoying…the tar and feathers needs to come back into vogue. Time to quit putting up with their nonsense.
Anti-science knuckleheads.
OK, before reading this, I wonder how much tobacco does NS grow? Who’s lobbying for this?
Still think it’s a free country?
Well how else will the Indians take over the business?
Ha richfisher, your comment is better than mine; wonder how much lobbying money came from there….
Nova Scotia has some of the highest tobacco taxes going – something like $16 a pack. That’s all this is about…and there’ll be no stopping it.
So now they just ban whatever new thing comes along, whether tracking, e cigarettes, whatever else…
These are the very same knuckleheads who decided to ban fracking “just because”. Not even just announce a moratorium on it; go to the trouble of passing legislation to ban it. And it was spearheaded by the Energy Minister himself. That’s a nice bit of Orwellian doublespeak for you.
Liberals. Useless twits. Destructive morons. Enemies of civilization. All of the above.
Whenever the issue of banning flavoured smoking products comes up, I always say some legislator should propose to ban flavoured liquor products as well (flavored vodka, rum, coolers, etc.). After all, kids under 18/19 love that stuff, too. There’s a 99% chance it wouldn’t pass, but at least the point is made (and in the 1% chance it does pass, there’ll be hell to pay at the next election at the hands of the adult audience that actually does drink that stuff…)
Exactly. The Nova Scotia government rakes in roughly 360 million per year in tobacco taxes. They are simply removing the threat to that revenue created by their inability to tax vaping at the same rates. Solution is to ban them, forcing smokers back on cigarettes.
My home province just keeps getting nuttier and nuttier. I used to think that nutty was reserved for my province for the last 30 years, BC, but Nova Scotia has caught up. Yes, I know about Quebec and Ontario but neither are my provinces.
Typical mob of “progressive” fascist assholes… vaping since September, haven’t had a cig for three weeks now and I don’t miss the tobacco or the costs, not for a minute. These Nova Scotia dickweed “progressives” are control freaks who believe it their right to control every aspect of citizens lives, that, and the massive amount of dollars that flow to Government coffers from the outrageous taxes on cigs. One thing is for certain, the Nova Scotia Government or any other Government for that matter are not motivated over concerns for peoples health, just their money, and control over their lives.
Politicians live for their power trips. Doesn’t seem to matter what it is or whether or not it makes sense. If you enjoy it……….it must be banned or at least taxed to the hilt to deter you. Nanny knows what’s best for you, and you WILL abide.
Lord Thundering Jesus, we gotta get on dat dere ’cause… uh, because, dats why.
Nova Scotia’s one shot at joining the 21st century was allowing it’s folks to buy booze on Sunday.
The prohibitionists never give up even when the product helps people.Man I hate these anti freedom anal jackasses. I wonder who is bribing them?
No one is bribing them. one description you forgot is self righteous. Those types just toss and turn knowing there are people out there doing “bad” things and they must do everything in their power to keep people on the right path. There’s a reason in old stories and movies the stick in the mud church lady prying into everyone’s business making sure they were on the straight and narrow always got a come-uppance. Now a days that type of person is real and are the heroes for the ideological activists.
I intend to see the rest of my country in the not to distant future but I think I may avoid this area! To Hell with these fools!
I quit smoking some time ago (May the 4th, 3:46 PM, 1981 – it was a Monday!), but I couldn’t care less if I see someone else who still continues to enjoy a smoke whenever and wherever they choose! It does not impact me! How do we rid ourselves of these GD do-gooders once and for all?
Remind me, this is the same province that mandates the use of helmets while skiing, right?
