The stats before I posted this on SDA. Let’s watch SDA’s influence.

  2. Just a question… can MSNBC track the source link (this web site) and not then remove the link-voting to claim a ‘truely’ representative vote?
The reason I ask is because I couldn’t find a way to the vote through the direct MSNBC home site. I want them to count me as an independant as opposed to a ‘biased’ voter.
That and the header reads “id…. anera”… for what it’s worth.
    Any tech savvy folk’s response?

  3. I voted and I have never heard of Panera until earlier today. I am wondering if a gun toting patron would be sued if he saved the lives of customers via hand gun. Kind of rhetorical, but would anti-gun nuts be so vindictive?

  4. Why should it be so hard to apply the same reasoning here that was applied to Ragged Ass Barber who only wanted to barber men’s hair?
It’s their business so it’s their rules.
People who want to retain their weapons should just get their bread elsewhere.

  5. A private establishment can do whatever it wishes.
That being said, if gun control activists are correct in their claims that mass shootings happen often, wouldn’t it be prudent to have a weapon on hand?

  6. Probably couldn’t find it on MSNBC, because it’s on CNBC. Yes, they can track it back.
Copy the link address and open a new tab and paste it in there, instead of clicking it through SDA.
    Their stated purpose:
“The request is simply we recognize everyone’s rights,” said Panera CEO Ron Shaich during a phone interview Monday. “But we also recognize that we are building communities in our cafes and are where people come to catch a breath.”
Truth is, they caved to months of pressure from Mom’s demand action:
“We are thrilled that after months of discussions between Panera and Moms Demand Action, Panera is taking a proactive position in favor of our families’ safety by putting a new gun policy in place. Moms are the consumers-in-chief of our households and we will reward companies that take a stand for our families’ safety. We urge other national companies follow suit,” said Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, in an email.

  7. They say they aren’t going to try and enforce it, and yes, they can certainly do whatever the hell they want in their business.
If they thought this was a good marketing gimmick, I think it’s cool for them to see how many people won’t be buying there any more.
It was funny to me when Cracker Barrel stopped carrying Duck Dynasty products, and their customer base threw a damned fit. They put the DD merchandise back on the shelf and apologized. Did they have no idea who their clientele actually were?

  9. A weapon is required to sit in a restaurant and order an Italian panino??
So what do they carry with them when they walk into a gun shop?? An Abrams tank??
Maybe it’s time to talk to the doctor!

  10. Here in the good ol Left Coast, a woman was stabbed to death right in front of dozens of helpless customers in a downtown Starbucks. The Manager tried to intervene and was stabbed as well.
A few months ago a Starbuck’s customer was shot by a disgruntled ex-employee. The customers ex-employee that is, not the restaurant’s.
A Bus passenger was stabbed to death and beheaded. A hockey-mom was bludgeoned to death waiting to pick up her son at the rink.
These are just a sampling of the more sensational occurrences that make the MSM pages, and no where near what is going on out there on our streets.
Some people believe in being prepared for the worst, some others in not being prepared at all.
Bad things can happen to good people, especially when they are helpless and vulnerable.
It has nothing to do with ordering a pizza.

  11. I can just see a guy, let’s call him Elmo, sitting in a Panera Bread restaurant with his .32 Beretta in a concealed holster while waiting for his panino. Two guys walk into the restaurant, one is sporting an AK-47 the other a Remington 870 (Tac 4) 12 gauge loaded with five rounds of #2 shot.
Elmo goes to the firing range twice a year. Normally, he could most likely hit a one gallon coffee can at about 50 feet. But at the sight of the AK 47 and the TAC 4, Elmo is a tad shaky. On a good day, the guy with the AK-47 can most likely hit the same can at 300 feet. The guy with the shotgun can most likely hit it on the fly. What do you suppose will happen to Elmo when he pulls out his pistol??
Just remember the damage that Justin Bourque did with his Poly Technologies Model M305 in the shootings that left 3 Mounties dead. And the Mounties were armed and had bullet proof vests.
And I”ll bet you your odds of choking to death on a pizza are most likely much higher than being shot or stabbed in the same restaurant.
    Sweet dreams Gunney99!!

  12. Frag the poll, this urbane zombie hash house just put up a nation wide sign to any hoodie with a urge to rob defenseless yuppies, that the cash register is always open. We all know what happens in gun free zones, well here’s one advertising it will allow no defense against armed robbers – good thinking, the only people who would visit a nationally advertised free fire zone for criminals sre people the gene pool is better off without – and Darwin will always oblige self destructive stupidity.

  13. plainz….. did you read your own post. how ridiculous can you get. the 3 mounties were caught unprepared, surprised as it were. as far as the guy with the hand gun being over whelmed I say not necessarily so. I can put 10/12 rounds in a six inch diameter pretty damn quick, seconds in fact. your scenario is so outlandish it is foolish.

  14. Quite so. I am not saying they shouldn’t be allowed to do what they want with their business.

  15. Hey drifter – seen the latest stats on defensive firearms use? Actuarials are nowhere near your unlikely scenario. The fact that there likely could be an armed confrontation during a robbery would keep the hoodies with the AK and scatter gun out of the place to begin with (more likely they woud chose some cheap street fire power – the fact they’re arming up with Ravens, Jennings and Jimenez click-click-bang guns gives the good guys armed with Glocks, S&Ws and Rugers a distinct advantage.) – and if they were amped up enough to try an armed robbery the latest stats put the odds of the good guys losing at 1000 to one. You don’t have to be a Gunsight graduate to use the advantage of surprise and superior fire power to win a close quarters gun fight

  16. Gunny, you are correct.
Here’s a real life example of someone who’s relative was killed by gun violence, in an eatery. Someone who wants stricter gun control.
    http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=475_1403923603
BTW, my brother was murdered, by a person with a gun, not by the gun. That night, my brother was stupid, he left his own gun in his truck.

  17. You know Mr. Drifter, it never fails to amaze me how many Canadians like yourself seem to make the destruction of their very own human rights by their very own government into some kind of moral victory.
Canada is not better off because you are forbidden from defending yourself, plainzdrifter. And make no mistake, you really are forbidden. The law will fall much heavier on you than some punk of a robber.
We already lost this fight. Your contempt for those Americans who have not yet given up is unseemly.
Also your scenario is idiotic. Assault rifles are virtually never used in crime. But given your scenario, unlikely though it may be, I’d sooner have something in my hand than locked in a box in a safe in the closet, separate from the ammunition, registered and licensed four different ways. It’s not helping me in the closet.

  18. You sound as gun/ scenario smart as I am brain surgery smart. Having taken close encounter/defensive action training/weapons you just had me rolling on the floor laffing my ass off. Learn when to STFU

  19. Plainz,
When they rob the Panera, I will do what all good citizens do, note their descriptions, height, weight, race, distinguishing marks, etc., and watch them leave the restaurant. I may try to get a look at their get-away car too. I am NOT the police. I am d___ed sure not Batman. Some restaurant’s lunch receipts are not a valid reason to use deadly force in my state.
If they herd us back to the walk-in cooler (prelude to getting rid of witnesses?), start shooting, or kidnap a couple of good looking girls, then I have a reason to apply deadly force in defense of myself or others. And I may still go to jail regardless.

  20. not all Canadians are brain dead. only the leftards and lieberals. If someone attacks me or my family they will find out what hell is like.

  21. rd said: “And I may still go to jail regardless.”
In Canada? Definitely. No question. Use of a firearm in self defense gets you more prosecutorial budget spent trying to nail you than kidnapping/murder/arson/robbery put together. Ask Ian Thompson of Welland Ont. who fired a warning shot when two (2) men were trying to burn his house down with gasoline bombs. He may yet be faced with an appeal by the Crown. And Ian Thompson didn’t -shoot- anybody. Just warned them off.
You shoot/stab/bludgeon or otherwise mangle an armed and dangerous robber/rapist/kidnapper/whatever, IN THE ACT, you are f-ed. Don’t ever doubt it. So unless you’re for sure going to die right then and don’t mind the rest of your life being spent in jail… walk away, baby. Dial 911 and die, benches.
Who arranged that? Plainzdrifter and his fellow travelers since 1968, who think sneering at Americans is more important than being free yourself.
Thank him appropriately. Shunning might be good.

  22. Unfortunately, I hate the place anyway, and would never eat at one. My distaste for their policy will have no effect on their business.
