University! College newspaper can’t be called ‘The Bullet’ anymore because it’s too dangerous

“The Bully” might have been more appropriate.
If we assume one of the other meanings, can we still call it The Bullet. From French word for ball. That is dangerous.
bullet (ˈbʊlɪt)
n
1. (Firearms, Gunnery, Ordnance & Artillery)
a. a small metallic missile enclosed in a cartridge, used as the projectile of a gun, rifle, etc
b. the entire cartridge
2. something resembling a bullet, esp in shape or effect
3. (Stock Exchange) stock exchange a fixed interest security with a single maturity date
4. (Stock Exchange) commerce a security that offers a fixed interest and matures on a fixed date
5. (Banking & Finance) commerce
a. the final repayment of a loan that repays the whole of the sum borrowed, as interim payments have been for interest only
b. (as modifier): a bullet loan.
6. (Industrial Relations & HR Terms) Brit dismissal, sometimes without notice (esp in the phrases get or give the bullet)
7. (Printing, Lithography & Bookbinding) printing See centred dot
8. bite the bullet See bite14
[C16: from French boulette, diminutive of boule ball; see bowl²]
En roulant ma boule, roulant
En roulant ma boule.
The big picture is… that this is a concerted attempt by the Left, and in this case a University newspaper to de-normalize firearms. The objective is to incrementally scare people with respect to firearms; to the point where average folks will think it is unreasonable to own fire arms. Heck, if you can’t say “bullet” or point your finger at someone mimicking a gun; then surely you cannot possess a real fire arm. Not one person who was part of this decision actually believes what they are saying; but, they see the value in adding just one more straw on the camel’s back. Thank gawd for the US Constitution! It is the only thing standing between the us, and a worldwide Marxist totalitarian government.
Yeah well, there we thought the COLD WAR was over and we had won…..
Change the name to “Kevlar Vest.” You know, for protection against “Bullet.”
Nice Bullet point list scar.
“The new name refers not only to the school’s colors, but also to the colors of the uniforms worn in the Civil War. The university is located in Fredericksburg, where two of Civil War battles were fought — the first a decisive Confederate victory and the second a narrow and costly win for the Union.”
Uniforms are OK though, they’ll be able to force everybody to wear Chairman Mao.. er, um, I mean “theirs”, once they get rid of all the bullets.
Bullet? Too violent. Colours used in a civil war that killed more than 600,000 soldiers? Not so much.
Global test
Incrementally intrude into people’s lives and comfort zones…….it works really really really really really good….until it doesn’t ….this type of thing is exactly how wars start…people invade other peoples thought bubbles and physical bubbles so much so that we generally try to accommodate to avoid conflict …but the left keeps invading our private comfort zones to the point that one day and mark my words the accommodating peaceful non confrontational gun owning bible thumping sleeping giant will wake up,unite ,and destroy ,there will be blood letting upon this earth like never before seen. I know its delusional and grandiose to the moderate peaceful sda reader but mark my words, from forcing us to change out license plates and pay for new ones and to change them ,to banning door knobs,to changing the name on a news paper…one day …it will be to much. And I feel that day is approaching …probly 2021-2025 somewhere in there it will be time to put up or shut up. I know I will be ready to fight with my brothers n sisters…..will you? Probly not…to busy talking about injustice n political correctness rather than actually doing something about it.
Not to mention the many, many BULLETS that were exchanged in accumulating those 600K casualties. Pity the bubble-wrapped snowflakes attending that institute of lower learning.
If they had to rename it, why not The Bulletin
We quit fighting; they didn’t.
Too many boomers obsessed with themselves to parent their own kids and pass down western traditions and values; too many obsessed with themselves to pay attention to what was being taught, or not taught to their kids; too many obsessed with themselves to be concerned about the take-over of our major institutions by closet communists; and, too many Gen X’ers consumed with all types of media, oblivious to history; and thus unable to fully understand the dire situations we are faced with, and how we got here.
I am greatly saddened that under my generation’s watch, we have squandered the gains of the 20th century.
Cleaned-up version…
With all due respect Paul in Calgary, I think you are a little optimistic; and it is time to invest in some knee pads.
The savages are at the gates; and western civilization is too apathetic, and too feminized to do anything about it. Western society is not reproducing; and those we are producing, are girly-man beta males who wouldn’t know how to stand-up for what is Right; even if the alternative is getting shafted up the rear-end(literally). From banning contact in the NFL, to banning boys from peeing standing-up; we have all but surrendered to the ridiculous demands of the fairer-sex; and are reaping the rewards of a society being run by women and girly-man beta males. All of this has left us vulnerable to our mortal enemies; and quite frankly, as Darwin would probably agree, unworthy of survival regardless.
As a society, when you behave like a giant vagina waiting to get stuck; you should not be surprised when a sexually suppressed patriarchal society comes pounding on the door looking to get some.
I foresee a much grimmer future; perhaps within 150 years, where all traces of western civilization are gone; and where white folks are only found in zoos, and some blonds with big butts are owned by rich Asians.
What’s next? College teams named for violent animals (e.g., the University of Colorado Buffaloes?) or residents of places best-known for wars (e.g., the USC Trojans, the Michigan State and San Jose State Spartans)? Some folks clearly have far too much time on their hands and need to be provided with new crayons and coloring books.
Indiana, well said, both times.
sasquatch, yes we did think so, but they just went underground and took over from within. Stalin planned well.
Can you believe these sissy pants?
Good job they didn’t change “The Bullet” to “The Knife”.
Recently, that’s even more dangerous is it not?
Ah another case of alphbetaphobia … where the left has a fear of certain words. I like that they are afraid of everything … it looks good on them.
Thanks Ken.
I expanded a bit… but the moderator has deemed my comments not worthy(original and cleaned-up version)
Rename it ‘the Toolbox’ and be done.
You jest. The US Constitution is of little force these days. And plenty of Canadians – especially in Newfoundand and in
Alberta, are gun owners. A friend of mine from Port aux Basques, who has also spent time in Louisiana, estimates that
per capita gun ownership is about the same in both places.
I don’t think Ms. McMillan needed constitutional protection when she shot her prairie dog.
I have a magic bullet. Makes excellent smoothies. They prolly won’t let me call it that no mo.
Changing the name of their student newspaper from “The Bullet” to “The Blue and The Gray”.
No, it should be renamed “The Dud”.
BULLET! BULLET! BULLET!
I just want to see what happens.
BULLET!!!
No worries, there will continue to be bullets on campus, as long as Powerpoint lives!
“The editorial board felt that the paper’s name, which alludes to ammunition for an artillery weapon, propagated violence and did not honor our school’s history in a sensitive manner,” newspaper staff said in a release issued Monday.
Ah, no. Artillery guns fire shells. Small arms fire bullets.
…and so it goes, the continued assault on people that think and work for themselves.
Classic LEFT wing BS from a University. I am with you Paul (and I’m in Calgary too). High time to Lock n Load…its not only in the US…this Shite is Identical to what is going on in Canada: witness York U and for that matter U of C right here at home. Witness that gutless POS Muslim that is our so called mayor. A riot in Downtown Calgary yet No Police – No media Commentary or Editorial disgust and not a peep from Nenshi…NADDA..!! Left Wing appeasing dhimmi (_i_)HOLES.
It took Ezra to come here and raise cain for anything to happen after that riot in downtown by those SCUMBAG LowLifes. . I woulda been there but was up N pumping Dilbit….but I did send in a fair bit of coin to hep out that cause.
God Help this country if that other POS from Quebec manages to become PM. (funny me saying that…in 2008 a good friend from Idaho said the same damned thing if Obummer was elected)
It’s when bullets come out of a gun that’s dangerous, not when a newspaper is called The Bullet. What morons don’t understand this?
If calling it The Bullet causes a rise in violence, then calling it The Blue and Gray Press will start the second American Civil War.
Perhaps the effeminate bullette might be more appropriate.
It is abundantly evident that universities in the sovietization era of American statecraft are not places of learning and reason but indoctrination camps where thinking is conditioned to state needs.
– if you want to understand why the private ownership of firearms and the right to armed self defense is so abhorrent to the collectivist police state, be aware that the authoritarian state claims a monopoly on the use of armed force, it isn’t about defending individual rights, its about defending the state’s right and continuity of the power structure – the armed individual is the antithesis of the fully civilian subordinated klepto-socialist authoritarian state – you can’t complain about state theft of your property and labor or state violation of your home or privacy if you’ve no means to stop it.
