  2. What We Learned About Canada by Looking at Your Weird Google Searches

    After seeing our colleagues in the Netherlands and the UK use Google’s Trends application (a searchable compendium that shows which corners of the world search for particular terms most often) to figure out where their countries’ kinks lie, we decided to examine Canada using the same highly scientific method of data journalism. Google has published web search data from 2004 onwards, but for the purpose of this investigation we only looked at searches made in 2014.
    What we came up with at the end of it all is a veritable psychological profile, province by province, territory by territory, that provides a glimpse into the darkest corners of the Canadian psyche.
    The results may or may not surprise you.

    America’s fifty states have a lot in common, but if their internet search histories are any indication they also have significant differences. Estately ran hundreds of search queries through Google Trends to determine which words, terms, and questions each state was searching for more than any other. The results ranged from mildly amusing to completely disturbing.

  10. Ouch that was painful to watch. Even if it was the enemy and everyone of them deserved a taste of their own medicine. However I agree with a few of the commenter at the site that the bomb was probably on one of the pall bearers. The man mindlessly shouting aloha akkbar after the blast was telling in that it sounded like he was confused a bit by his god’s idea to blow them all up but was ok with it if that’s what he wanted.

  17. Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced that the country will permanently switch to winter time on 26 October.
    This ends an experiment that began under former president and Putin ally Dmitry Medvedev. In 2011 he switched the clocks to year-round “summer time”. The change was initially popular, but a survey last year showed less than a third of Russians wanted to keep the clocks forward all year.

  20. The Canadian government plans to introduce new proposed legislation that would make life easier for many Canadian gun owners.
    The government plans to table the proposed legislation in the fall.
    Under the proposed law, firearms regulations across the country will be streamlined and standardized.
    Currently, gun owners in Ontario, Quebec and P.E.I. have to apply to each province’s chief firearms officer when they want to transport a restricted or prohibited weapon. Under the new rules, gun owners in all provinces would get permission to transport weapons as a condition of their licence.
    The government also plans to allow a grace period for gun owners with expired permits.

  21. According to Eric Holder, and therefore to Obama, illegals have a “civil and human right” to amnesty. As Jeff Sessions points out, this is an argument against the nation state. Accordingly, the US, like Israel, would have no right to exist.
    I think it follows from this idiocy that anyone in the country legally is a criminal.

A selection of photos from el Universal, formerly a trustworthy (independent) newspaper in Caracas…. recently bought for a bit under 100 million euros by a company that just recently started their website. Look for it to be gov’t of Venezuela money that’s ill gotten & fleeing the country. Except for the chinese trading future ownership of oil production, nobody else invests in Venezuela.

    It seems the chinese are behind the purchase of this building in Caracas, how else does one explain emptying this building when they demand it? The occupation of this would never have happened without Hugo’s approval. It’s just that they need the cash. It doesn’t matter how it arrives. It doesn’t matter where the squatters end up.
