Strange, I don’t read that article the same way as everyone else. It seems to me that the cop is expressing a bit of frustration with the situation. A large group of Palestinians show up for a rally at city hall followed by a small pro-Israeli group that looks like they were there for confrontation (see Samantha Hamilton and Jake Birrell). But I guess that’s just kind of a non-partisan take on the situation. Sorry if I’m in the wrong place for that sort of thing.

There are Canadians in our small community who practice the Muslim faith. They’re pretty much invisible because they dress and act just like all other Canadians. They live in houses in mixed neighborhoods, their kids go to public school, join in sports, and like their parents they engage socially with people of all beliefs. We have a widely diverse population of immigrants, and I consider them all moderates in their beliefs.
There is only one mono-cultural enclave in town and that’s where most of the first immigrants live. That’s also where most of the crime, gang activity and violence is concentrated. Anytime a group isolates themselves in enclaves and ghettos there will be extremists and trouble.
We’re fortunate here that there is nothing like the “Taliban Heights” neighborhoods that seem to be ever increasing big cities. However on a positive note, like a garbage dump, cities are concentrating most of the sh!t in one pile far away from here.
I certainly would never live in one again.
