Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Say the following in a harsh, semi-whispered voice; “There are . . . . other ways . . . of dealing with a problem .. . . . like dis”.
I don’t know about President, but Mike Rowe is an awesome dude. He has too much common sense to be a politician.
Mike Rowe has an easy going manner that the salt of the earth can identify with and from time to time holds forth on concepts and attitudes he has observed….especially the work ethic….. and in this case petty theft.
He has a very good living with his “dirty jobs” franchise which indicates business savvy.
No doubt he projects an image that the majority can/will identify with more closely than OBAMA but all that does not qualify him to be POTUS…..although IMHO he would fill that position better than the Hildabeast, Fauxcahantus, Mooshelle or any of that ilk but….no.
Relying on image and perceived personality is what got us in the current mess.
Tain’t right, tain’t wrong …just is…
That lawyer should be ashamed, if he is still even capable of feeling such an emotion. This country does not need that type of scum sucking parasite. To think about how to help the perpetrator and the thief first rather than the hard working citizen is disgusting. And you know he is too much of a gutless worn to sue Mike Rowe.
” Indiscriminateness of thought does not lead to indiscriminateness of policy. It leads the modern liberal to invariably side with evil over good, wrong over right and the behaviors that lead to failure over those that lead to success. Why? Very simply if nothing is to be recognized as better or worse than anything else then success is de facto unjust. There is no explanation for success if nothing is better than anything else and the greater the success the greater the injustice. Conversely and for the same reason, failure is de facto proof of victimization and the greater the failure, the greater the proof of the victim is, or the greater the victimization.”
Evan Sayet
The Can/Tire in Langford put up a wall of shame and banned anyone on it from ever entering the store.
Simple, effective and if your neighbors didn’t already know you were a low-life……..enjoy!
Many stores in my area post rubber cheques and shop lifter photos. The bounced cheques only get posted after two offences.
Not one ever thought to sue.
I have a ROGUES photo album on Facebook for this very purpose.
All lawyers aren’t sociopaths, but it helps if one is. Lawyers are trained for years to not see “right” or “wrong”, only their client’s side, in other words; to become sociopaths.
Today’s Prosecutor will be tomorrow’s public defender, presiding over the trials of the same people, only on the other side. That we have allowed this profession to take over our political class is the biggest mistake we ever made, and completely irreversible.
Lawyers have done far more harm to society than the criminal class they protect or prosecute. We are their victims, they made the rules that we have to live by,and only they can decipher the intent of the rules.
Skakespeare said ,”first we kill all the lawyers”. I’m not sure what he meant by that.
“Cade: Be brave, then; for your captain is brave, and vows reformation. There shall be in England seven halfpenny loaves sold for a penny, the three-hooped pot shall have ten hoops, and I will make it felony to drink small beer; all the realm shall be in common; and in Cheapside shall my palfrey go to grass; and when I am king, as king I will be, there shall be no money; all shall eat and drink on my score; and I will apparel them all in one livery, that they may agree like brothers and worship me their lord.
Dick: The first thing we do, let’s kill all the lawyers.
Cade: Nay, that I mean to do.”
William Shakespeare, Henry the Sixth, Part II, IV, ii (1623), suggesting that all lawyers would have to die in order to impose his will as king.
“I don’t judge.” – are 3 of the key words related to the downfall of modern society. Hypocritical repeated by Leftists the world over and propped up by shady American lawyers. 🙁
“Petty” theft is petty only to self-righteous third parties who aren’t the victim of it. For the small business owners victimized by it, it’s a gut wrenching and very depressing part of doing business. Small business people don’t like being confrontational and don’t like having to be suspicious of their clients. And the financial loss is disproportionate to the price-tag of the object stolen because, unlike profit from the sale of the item which is only a portion of the price remaining after the wholesale price and overhead expenses are met, the loss from theft is the entire price of the object.
Public shaming of the perps is an excellent idea and under used.
I wish they would start using the cane as Singapore does. Lashes with it would immediately deter crime as the physical pain ensures not too many want a repeat performance.
When the ‘caning’ of the American spoiled child happened in Singapore in the late 1990’s, a neighbour of mine who had lived in that city explained that there was a difference in language between what we perceived as caning and what the practice really was. What the American got was what we interpreted caning to be. He explained to me what the Singapore law administered as ‘caning.’ They aren’t even close. So different that the administration justice was done under the watchful eye of a physician, was administered I believe thrice with time between each session for healing. Most never made it through because they committed suicide. Crime is very low.
On the other hand, public shaming is used by certain local judges in the US, especially in Ohio. Seems quite effective. A father of a miscreant son whom he was ineffective within the law to turn around, lamented to me one day that he sometime wished we still had the stocks for public shaming as the once did in english speaking countries.
“That lawyer should be ashamed,…”
Indeed. Mike Rowe should post his name and photograph on the website with the thieves.
Mike Rowe deserves every bit of success he has had. I used to watch Dirty Jobs, and some of the tasks he was given should have been illegal and probably were. I still shudder when I think of him and his crew down in the sewer with rats crawling all over them. Rowe is probably a pariah in Hollywood, since his common sense and respect for blue-collar workers goes against everything Hollywood stands for.
