  1. The Wildrose Alliance deepens its capitulation to the statist quo.
    So the city councils of the two big cities will score a nice chunk of change if the Wildrose ends up leading the province next year or the year after. For now, a Wildrose government would fork out $300 million a year for four years to help pay for LRT. That’s $1.2 billion baby, split between Calgary and Edmonton. Wait. That’s on top of the much greater no-strings-attached coin the big cities will also get with Wildrosers at the helm. In 2016, if the card-reading showing a surplus holds, Calgary alone would be in line for something around $600 million that year from a Wildrose government, more than the current bucks being dished out by the ruling Progressive Conservatives.

    As the rest of the column makes clear, WR is dead as a reformist vehicle. The best options for Albertans who want change is to 1) get a PC membership to vote for the least bad PC-er and 2) keep the WR out of power until they are worth giving it to.

  8. And so the political narrative on the Moncton shootings begins with target group stereotyping –
    We see the suspect being “tarred” as an anti-government, anti-authoritarian (civil libertarian-anti big government) and avid gun enthusiast/hunter/nice guy next door – an obvious attempt to put anyone with passion for civil liberty or who hunts or owns firearms on the suspect list of potential mass killers (irresponsible media innuendo at best after seeing where this witch hunt led in the US) – they are trying to attach a face and stigma to the “Canadian tea party” stereotype (a phrase police brass and federal left politicians use now to describe dissent to leftist authoritarianism or government-administrative corruption). We also see the crown’s prosecutor and defense council’s collusive attempt to make the narrative and 1st degree charges stick by not ordering psycho evaluation of an obviously disturbed suspect – they need the illusion of premeditation and clarity of criminal mission to convict this “tea party cop killer” with Murder 1 = then use the narrative to expand the prohibition regime over civilian firearms ownership. As always, it is not the suspect on trial in these legal system kangaroo extravaganzas, it’s the politics/ethics/agendas of the system.

    You don’t know. You’re just regurgitating partisan faith. I voted for WR because they had a platform I believed. That platform is gone and replaced with gravy. Put them in power and we get more of it ex Bush, Harper. I am not getting fooled again but I see there’s a sucker born every minute. Have fun being disappointed again.
    The PCs on the other hand are actually getting a little ‘harder’ in their attitudes to the public sector unions. There is no reason to swap one for the other.
