“Why America’s poisonous politics makes ‘Market Leninism’ an attractive alternative”

And this is where the old communists and new crony capitalists meet, drink and suck money from the working stiff.
Actually, it fits with the ideology of the current leader of the Liberal party of Canada, as per Chinese communists don’t need to consult.
Apparently, this is the trend of politics today.
“In the 1930s, the buzz was that liberal capitalist democracy was decadent and declining – that the pluralism and diversity of the USA was our greatest weakness because we could not reason together. “
Why is this making clearer the current trend.
The ruling class have firm hold on the plebeians.
Not so much though in Alberta, as one of the ruling class is falling like ton of bricks.
The comments after the article are rather interesting.

  2. Years ago I was down in New London CT and saw a boomer and an attack sub under
construction. The attack sub was big but the boomer was four times as long. And
the Typhoon is twice as big as the American boomer! Wow!
The use of submarine tankers to take oil from the Arctic ocean fields to Europe
was suggested in the early `80s. The route from the western NWT to Bremerhaven
is surprisingly direct. Those would have been truly enormous boats. But
even the oil patch would have difficulty in the necessary capital formation to
build them, the actual costs of constructing and operating them are not available,
and above all there were considerable questions about maneuvering them in the shallow
water of the littoral Arctic. So the idea went nowhere, more’s the pity.

  3. I always knew that Earth First activists were psychotic terrorists, but *shite*… Prince Phillip!

  4. Re: the Wallflowers tune…
U2 with panties. Music so white even white people are embarrassed by it. Yikes!

  5. That is outrageous. I mean, what is the correct response to what obviously seemed like a carjacking? I’m getting really sick of these stories.

  6. A last kiss type of song. Pearl Jam did a good cut of that. The Wall Flowers hammered their song. probably the best of the genre.

  7. … something about that snare drum. Also, how often do you hear a song with no crashes! (the cymbals)

  8. Well, coach you not liking a song doesn’t make it bad.
I play in a cover band that plays this song, and I can assure you we have no embarrassment when we play it.

  11. Pearl Jam sucks on Last Kiss (no pun intended). No one can beat J. Frank Wilson & the Cavaliers on Last Kiss.

  13. Kate:
I was a aspiring songwriter in the 70s and 80s.
Did a CBC record way back in the mid 70s.
Gave it up when I realized that there was no hope unless I lived in a music town like Nashville, LA or NYC.
    Nope!
So I gave it up. Totally. And more or less lost interest in pop music. (a sulk, maybe?).
However, in recent times some things have pierced the wall.
Serena Ryder (but I have issues). Gillian Welch. Allison Kraus.
    Ruth Moody.
And YES, this song which you could listen to all day. I heard it a while back and wuz wondering, Who the hell is this? and now I know and AGREE with you. Enthusiastically. Thanks.

  15. If you have a desire to label any music ‘white’ specifically ‘white liberal’ music it would be music made by the Smothers Brothers or Pete Seeger or just about any sixties folk. Not that there’s anything wrong with it. Just saying.

  16. Fighting back against Common Core:
“In February, a group of Common Core-aligned math — math — lessons oozed out of the woodwork which require teachers to ask students if the 2000 presidential election was fair and which refer to Lincoln’s religion as either ‘liberal’ or nothing.”
