Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

So when is Human Achievement Hour this year? I have some tires I could burn.
You’d think that if David Miller really believed in conserving energy, he would have shut off the wasteful projector shown behind him.
Are they still doing that Earth Hour thingie? Last year there wasn’t a single darkened house on our street [mine was lit up like the Las Vegas strip].
If I remember correctly electricity usage went up not down during their precious hour. Let’s make sure the same happens again this year.
I question the veracity of BC’s claim to have grown the economy since we initiated the hated carbon tax.By what book keeping sleight-of-hand do they claim to have accomplished that?
Half the tradesmen ( probably an exaggeration,but..)in BC have gone to Alberta to work in the ucky-icky-tarry sands. I know one young fellow that went there just a couple of weeks ago, ticketed journeyman electrician. He said he earned $4000 in his first week.
So he’ll spend his money on his family in Kelowna, but it sure as hell had nothing to do with BC’s economic growth. It’s Alberta all the way.
And to people like Miller with their snotty “earth hour” for you peasants,I say: go commit an unspeakable act upon yourself.
Menzies should play two hours of Jimi Hendrix LOUD at his party. No one epitomises the use of electricity in their music more than Jimi.
From “Purple Haze” to the “Hear My train a Comin”,play it loud and proud David!
Electricity is a great development, I HAVE lived without it,wouldn’t want to do it again!
The most telling part is when the Earth Hourfascist says “We’re going to tax things that are bad…”, either he has a mouse in his pocket, or he’s using the royal “we”. I’m sure handing over control of taxation to a small group of unelected idealogues can’t possibly have any bad side effects.
You’d think that those in Toronto who lived without electricity after the last ice storm would know how hard it is. Nope. Leftists are retards who don’t learn from mistakes and can’t be reasoned with. Better to just roll up your fist and whack ’em in the head when they open their mouthes and start repeating their rehearsed anti-human rhetoric.
When is Earth hour?
I need to clean the oven and check the back up electric heaters.
While many will be turning off their electricity from a strange guilt, we will be shining our lights to celebrate human achievement. Achievements that allow our children to have double the lifespan our great grandparents had before electricity.
I ignore stunts like Earth Hour and will continue to do so.
Besides, energy conservationism in Ontario isn’t saving me any money.
If my hydro bills are going to skyrocket regardless, the least I can do is cheerfully burn that power anyway!
March 29 from 2030 to 2130 hrs local time
Earth hour…a good day to celebrate Edison’s invention of the light bulb by turning on all lights, trashing the toxic screwy bulbs. Expect Toronto to be shut down and in total darkness….hide your valuables, the Wynne Liberals may go looting, they’re already looting hydro users, charging a “debt reduction” fee plus GST even though the hydro debt has been long paid off.
Oh, and David Miller?
He and the likes of Olivia Chow are precisely the reason so many Torontonians will still vote for someone like Rob Ford no matter what shenanigans he might get up to.
Can’t wait for Earth Hour: idle the Ford V8, play Civilization V on the computer’s highest power consumption setting under bright 100W lights, grill steaks outside, maybe even clean an oven.
For those here in Alberta, have you heard the radio spot? “The science is out there, the weather is out there.” The stupid is seriously strong in these people.
We will be celebrating earth hour on the road burning gasoline. Take that Miller and shove it.
The ultimate counter to earth hour would be to dynamite a wind turbine. Its not like they actually generate all that much power anyway. If a dozen were destroyed would it even be noticed on the grid?
Earth hour, like every other climate initiative falls under the same old “just follow the money”.

The accounting used is a fiddle Don, much like BC’s “surplus” that is actually a huge deficit. I saw someone do a breakdown of all the tricks they used to arrive at their figures but I can’t find the link right now. If the breakdown had been done using sound economic methods it would have shown a large drop in GDP when the carbon tax was first launched and it still hurts business in a big way. We simply never see the real books. Several other factors also served to “hide the decline” so to speak. I will hunt around for that link when I close up later.
Don you are absolutely right. BC’s carbon tax is nothing other than a slight of hand. It is just an energy tax to raise more money for government coffers. Just another example of the dozens upon dozens of smaller frauds that make up the overall global warming fraud.
Watching this video it occurred to me that one way to counter-attack the envirofacists is hard truth. Let’s tell people the unvarnished truth as to where these loons want to take the economy.
Al Gore’s dream would be to make it impossible for the average citizen to ever take a flight, leaving the airways clear for private jets owned by wealthy liberals. If the WWF got what they wanted, cars would be banned, except of course for the elites at the WWF and the Suzuki Foundation, and so on.
The average person needs to understand what these fascists are really trying to achieve, and how these fascists define their utopian world.
I found this, which comes to similar conclusions but does not have the detail.

Same here! C’mon everyone, sign up for the ‘Oppose Stupidity’ hour and turn ’em all on!
I’d love to go to Menzoid’s party!!
(Too far to drive tho)
Anyone from SDA going?
Rob Ford drunk and snorting crack is a smarter person than this dud Miller, if Miller could only catch and install the shedded brain cells of Ford it would help the idiot. As usual the Zoid gave Miller the fool a stage, for him to show the rest of us how truly stupid he really is, thanks Menzies. Welders lights compressors TV’s and computers will be hummin along with the fireplace and boilers to heat all the glowbull warming -15 Mar 26. In honor of Libby and Lizzy and all the chicken littling they have done for this cause, the least they could do is rename it Girth Hour
Good thought, Don; I might have looped “Whole Lotta Love” but I used it at a Halloween show a few years ago.
How about the Dartmouth Digital Synthesizer? Much more annoying.
Readying my FX lighting for the hour, plus the Xmas lights still available. Nice to see the HA schedule overlaps the EA time.

That’s NOT the antithesis of Green Hour, that’s irresponsible toxic pollution. Try to understand the difference, it’s very important. Adding toxic pollution to the planet is never acceptable.
Would you s-h-i-t in the middle of your kitchen?
I ignore stunts like Earth Hour and will continue to do so.

Exactly!! I do the same for any of those eco stunts. I don’t use any more or any less than I normally would.
Here is another post on BC’s carbone tax.
http://wattsupwiththat.com/2013/07/15/why-revenue-neutral-isnt-and-other-costs-of-the-bc-tax/
According to this chart,
http://www.ontario-hydro.com/index.php?page=current_rates
peak power usage hours in Ontario are from 11 AM to 6 PM. Would turning off lights make a dramatic impact during the day and early evening hours when there is still daylight but when people are at home, cooking, ect? Obviously not. As turning off the grid completely would be suicide and turning off power in the middle of the day on weekdays would be counter-productive and not at all show-stopping, eco-nuts use this one hour to massage their precious egos with this futile gesture. It’s like the kid who makes a scene to get attention.
Not that any of this tops pollution or anything.
Actually, tires burn pretty clean, if you supply enough air to them. They are basically solid petroleum. A clean tire fire makes less smoke than a Calgary transit bus.
Understand, mind you, I don’t routinely burn tires, but sometimes there is a point to be made. I realize an uber-literalist like yourself may have a problem with metaphors, both literary and physical, but most of us don’t. By the way, I pointed out some solar panels on auction on last night’s reader tips, did you catch that?
I find that ignoring it is not nearly as enjoyable as proudly giving them the middle finger and lighting my place up with everything that has a on switch. For a full hour I can almost hear that smart meter squeeling with delight. Just one of those feel good things that the wife and I look forward to.

I have no use for solar panels, why ask?
Actually, tires burn pretty clean, if you supply enough air to them.
In a correctly designed burner, yes… in a ‘tire pile’ no.
This year we’ll likely still be needing to have the woodstove running, I’ll just open a window a crack and throw a few extra pieces on the fire; in recognition of the wonders of electricity, like when we could afford it.
My heat and electricity come from renewable energy, and have for decades, the games people play in cities don’t effect me.
Some more fun reading about earth day.

My contribution to earth hour will be 10,000 watts of incandescence.
Somebody help me here. I can’t figure out who brays more…the a@# on the farm or the a$# Nof60. I do notice a lot of stuff goes over s/he/its swelled head.
