  2. CONAKRY (Reuters) – Health officials fighting an outbreak of Ebola in Guinea on Sunday dispatched specialized medical equipment, imposed restrictions on funerals and sought to contain panic to prevent the fever from spreading.
    There have been 29 confirmed deaths from the hemorrhagic fever among 59 people killed by a mysterious illness in southeastern Guinea since early February, international medical charity Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) said.
    U.N. health officials have expressed concern that the disease, which has a fatality rate of 90 percent and has not been recorded in the West African state before, may spread to Sierra Leone after cases showing similar symptoms, including diarrhea, vomiting and bleeding, were reported there.
    At least five of the dead in Guinea have been medical officials, including the head of the regional hospital in Macenta, at the heart of the crisis, some 800 km (500 miles) from Guinea’s capital Conakry.

    We may have an effective and resilient plague with this one. Natural forces will find a means to balance a population growing unchecked like a cancer. Some isolated regions survived the pandemic of 1918 as long as they maintained quarantine, when they thought it was over and let down their guard it hit them too. Those who fail to learn from the mistakes of history are doomed to repeat them.

    That Putin would view such a symbol as a threat should hardly come as a surprise. In his understanding of Russia and the Soviet Union, every attempt by Ukrainians to assert their independence amounts to a betrayal of Russia and Russians.     Like Bandera and his comrades, millions of Ukrainians today believe that they can live without Russia. In fact, they believe that Ukraine can live only without Russia. Ironically, Putin and his propaganda machine are only reinforcing that view. If his aggressive behavior and warmongering rhetoric continue, he may very well succeed in accomplishing what the nationalists failed to do — uniting the vast majority of Ukrainians around an anti-Russian nationalist agenda.

    There are some reports from Venezuela of escalating non-toloerance, that the Maduro gov’t is losing control because it simply cannot put out all the fires its started.

    It’s not so much this small event, Venezuela’s prison system is stuffed by at least a 2x margin of capacity and has nowhere to put those it arrests. The food supply is on a knife edge, shortages of all basics is rampant. Maduro wasn’t capable of maintaining control of an unhappy country, less so of an unhappy country rebelling.

    In the story, it references how … “NO booze was given out, where NO breakfast or lunch or cookies were offered, where NO military were asked to attend..”
    It’s quite normal for pro government marchers to be given treats for taking the time to protest for the gov’t when asked. Commonly they’re bused in, fed on the buses, often given vouchers at the Mercel discount shopping centres run and somewhat stocked by the gov’t. Then, driven back to the municipal bus stations, or similar central town centre.
    The opposition doesn’t have the gov’t sourced resources to match this gifting.

    And with the growing Muslim population from both immigration(500,000 since 9/11) and birth rate, it becomes an increasing challenge for them to monitor and act in time.
    By the time this subgroup doubles for a second time, we’ll be deep into what the Europeans are experiencing. It’s already in play.
    The rate of jihad attacks world wide has been rising. As have been arrests trying to keep up with or ahead of attacks.
    It’s going to be a long war. We are in the early stages still.
    We depend on CSIS/RCMP professional skill and dedication more than we will ever know.
    It’s necessary what they do, but it isn’t enough.
    As in lock-step with the terrorist threat, is a thriving “Stealth Jihad”. Whose goal is to subvert the West’s “miserable house from within.”
    Stealth Jihad’s first goal is to prevent open public education and debate about
    political Islam. As without access to our tradition of critical thought, the West is increasingly ideologically vulnerable.
    These news reports deal with the overt acts of jihad but no the ideological underpinnings of jihad. That will take a political will to surface in time.

  22. Agreed. I’ve not been in support of growing food for fuel. The biodiesel I burn in my truck is made from ‘waste’ fryer oil, which used to go the landfill. The biodiesel additive in Canadian diesel fuel comes from non-food grade crop waste canola. The oil is extracted and the seed cake is used for animal feed.
    Growing corn for ethanol was the biggest biofuel scam of all. It takes as much energy to produce the ethanol as is contained in the ethanol. Unbelievably inefficient and stupid.
