  1. I have just learned, to my horror, that Tommy Robinson, leader of the patriotic English Defence League, has quit and disowned the League after, apparently, being converted to Islam by a former jihadi associated with Quilliam, an Islamic-front “think tank” active in Britain named for a British eccentric who converted to Islam in the late 19th century century.
    The Daily Express has more:

The statement from Quilliam, if you can bear to stomach it:

The EDL commented on their own website:
Quilliam are saying that the EDL has been decapitated. Maybe we have lost our head, but we have not lost our hearts and our souls. We can do this together, without leaders. We will not give up the fight because two figureheads have left. The EDL is more than this, we must go on, the EDL will go on. We will not surrender.

“Shutdown worsens historic blizzard that killed tens of thousands of South Dakota cattle”
“Rapid City and many other parts of South Dakota recorded record snowfall totals for the entire month of October in just three days over the weekend.”
“An unusually early and enormous snowstorm over the weekend caught South Dakota ranchers and farmers unprepared, killing tens of thousands of cattle and ravaging the state’s $7 billion industry — an industry left without assistance because of the federal government shutdown.
As many as 75,000 cattle have perished since the storm slammed the western part of the state Thursday through Saturday with snowfall that set records for the entire month of October in just three days, state and industry officials said.
Across the state, snow totals averaged 30 inches, with some isolated areas recording almost 5 feet, The Weather Channel reported.”

  3. Media reports the KY Jelly twins are now free to leave Egypt. Will they now go to Gaza as was their original intent or will they return to Canada for all the Leftie accolades?

  4. Glad we brought peace to Iraq. Now that we’ve pretty well pulled out and taken our peace with us it’s back to business as usual. The Shiite hate the Sunni and vice versa but they both hate the Kurds. Turkey has always hated the Kurds and vice versa. Who said you can never go back ? All we’re missing is Sadam to keep a lid on it. Lid should blow off soon.

  5. Why I call climate alarmists Young Earth Warmers:
Story 1 -“unprecedented” “apocalyptic” “climate departure”
“To arrive at their projections, the researchers used weather observations, computer models and other data to calculate the point at which every year from then on will be warmer than the hottest year ever recorded over the last 150 years.”
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2451604/Apocalypse-Now-Unstoppable-man-climate-change-reality-end-decade-make-New-York-London-Paris-uninhabitable-45-years-says-new-study.html
Story 2 – “An ancient forest which is thought to have been hidden for at least 1,000 years has been discovered beneath a melting glacier.Logs and stumps can be seen underneath the thawing 37 square mile Mendenhall Glacier in Alaska, with some of the trees still bearing roots and bark.”
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2451640/Mendenhall-Glacier-melting-reveals-ancient-forest.html#ixzz2hLQnjFaG
What happened a thousand years ago? The Medieval Warm Period (AD 950 to 1250). Was it a time of devastation and doom? Not in Europe, “During the High Middle Ages, which began after AD 1000, the population of Europe increased greatly as technological and agricultural innovations allowed trade to flourish and the Medieval Warm Period climate change allowed crop yields to increase”. WIKI
The Little Ice Age that followed, OTOH: The Little Ice Age by anthropology professor Brian Fagan of the University of California at Santa Barbara tells of the plight of European peasants during the 1300 to 1850 chill: famines, hypothermia, bread riots, and the rise of despotic leaders brutalizing an increasingly dispirited peasantry…Historian Wolfgang Behringer has linked intensive witch-hunting episodes in Europe to agricultural failures during the Little Ice Age. WIKI
MWP = good, LIA = bad. Story 2 indicates that in North America we are now returning to MWP temps so maybe we are reaching another climate optimum not climate doom. Climate alarmists-Young Earth Warmers- need to go back further than 150 years before going apocalyptic.

  7. Oh they’ll come home. They won’t be able to get out the ME fast enough, now that the curtain’s been pulled back. I’ll bet they never step foot on another Gaza Freedom Flotilla again.
These guys aren’t into freedom for the poor and downtrodden. They get their kicks out of radical causes. Watch their radical causes become radically localized.

  8. Of Hope*.
    …-
“Hope is a dangerous commodity when applied to government.
There is in Hope a kind of temptation to avert our sight from reality, to believe in Unicorns, websites you can only reach by dialing a phone or a world without nuclear weapons. Long ago we knew we were fallen and remembered what the angel with the flaming sword at the gates of Eden once said, “once a punk, always a punk.”
That didn’t mean all was lost.”

“Hope* is charming, lively, blue-eyed wench, & I am always glad of her company, but could dispense with the visitor she brings with her, her younger sister, fear*, a white liver’d-lilly-cheeked, bashful palpitating, awkward hussey that hangs like a green girl at her sister’s apron strings & will go with her whithersoever she goes.”

“Photos From Asia Show Obama’s Absence Left U.S. Demoted”
“If a picture is worth a thousand words, photos from two global summits in Asia this week reveal all you need to know about how President Barack Obama’s absence due to the budget fight in Washington has marginalized the U.S.
At the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Bali, Indonesia, the official photo of leaders in matching batik shirts shows a smiling Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin flanking the host, Indonesia’s president. In the far right corner of the back row, at the edge of the stage, is U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, who’s been standing in for Obama all week at summits across Asia.
The picture from the East Asia Summit in Brunei last night was more of the same — Kerry shunted to the far left, while Premier Li Keqiang, China’s second-ranking leader, basked center stage next to the host, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. At the gala dinner, Kerry was seated at one end of a long table, between the Malaysian prime minister’s wife and an empty chair.”
