  1. You’ve stumbled onto the world-wide, official government motto – “Taxes: What can’t they fix?”

  2. A global sunshine fairness tax is needed. Tax the bejeezus (beAllah?) out of the gulf states which have an abundance of sun, desert and petrodollars and redistribute it to the poor and starving Lapplanders, Icelanders, etc

  3. It amuses me no end, when you see claims, as in that article, that changes in solar output do not affect climate. If that is true, whence, pray tell, comes the heat that takes up the slack when the Sun is slacking off, and how does that imaginary heat source know to cut back when the Sun becomes active?

  4. Supposedly the influence of the solar cycle on climate was first noted by a commodities speculator who noticed that crops were most abundant near sunspot maxima.
Statements such as “some observers have linked the lack of solar activity to the cooling of the climate, though the explanation remains controversial”, in regard to the final clause, makes me wish to apply a red-hot poker to over-verbose writers on science who pontificate in public – a red-hot poker where it will do them the most good.
In truth, the understanding of solar variability is very limited. I’ll say that again: our understanding of solar variability is very limited. So if anyone says much about it, THEY ARE BLOVIATING. Because of the proliferation of graduate schools, there are too many poorly-educated scientists out there who would much rather bloviate than work. It is easier and can be more profitable as well.

  5. Apparently, manmade CO2 is the 98 lb weakling of the climate driver world. Solar cycles, ENSO, the deep oceans, aerosols, clouds, volcanoes and pretty much every other natural cycle/varation(except aerosols) are kicking sand in its face. Climate scientists try to bulk the weakling up with computer touch ups and scary stories about what will happen when he becomes a muscle- bound monster and takes his revenge. Less and less people seem to be intimidated these days.

  6. Yeah well, me I still crack up when some loon predicts a “tipping point” when the methane is released from the loon-$hit in the tundra….
Howcum it didn’t occur during Eric the Red and leif the Lucky’s adventures when the proxies indicate it wuz much warmer than now..?

  7. Or the much warmer “Holocene Climate Optimum” that melted ther Northern Hemisphere Ice Sheets…….

  8. LC Bennett, I like your analogy. Perhaps somebody could construct a before and after photo of this 98lb AGW CO2 weakling before the models (steroids) beefed him up into the hulk, an angry right wing denier hulk that is.

  9. Shamrock, WUWT has had graphs that show temp. data before and after ‘adjustments’. Raw data is of course the foundation of hard science. That raw data has had more corrections and enhancements done to it than an aging Hollywood star. There is some speculation that one of the reasons the CAGW computer models are so inaccurate is that the raw data has been so mangled that it is now useless. Imagine a GPS with all the wrong coordinates programmed in.

  10. “Howcum it didn’t occur during Eric the Red and leif the Lucky’s adventures when the proxies indicate it wuz much warmer than now..?”
Well, the answer is that to a leftist history only began in 1848 or in October 1917.

  11. Reuters sez: “scientists who insist there is no evidence that temperatures are about to fall.”
There apparently is evidence that the temperatures are more or less going nowhere and “scientists” insist that the heat is on.
Reuters sez: “Those hoping that the sun could save us from climate change look set for disappointment”.
That is a sophisticated way to say, they have no clue what’s going on, because the complex system is so complex they may never understand though they will tell you that they know because they know.
It seems that these climate or whatever scientists “don’t know dick”, this is a term to amplify not knowingness. They constantly contraDICKt each other and pronounce airy statements that have so many holes in them that the “jounalists” can fill in the blanks with their own nonsense.
Reuters sez: “But DeToma admitted “we will (omit the ‘will’ for clarity) do not know how or why the Maunder Minimum started, so we cannot predict the next one.”
    Ain’t that the truth?!
And that’s how and why they make the big bucks.
