I’ve little doubt many parents would have been consulted in drawing up the curriculum. I’ve even less doubt that, the formalities requisite for the talking points having been completed, those parents would have been studiously ignored.
As someone who recent went through the new ‘tough’ laws of background checks when working, or in my case, volunteering with kids I have to say there is a lot of questions on the application form.
I notice this is starting to deter other volunteers, or in the least takes twice as long to get the ball rolling with them.
But was worse yet, was the treatment I got at the new Calgary Police office in the NE when I was submitting it. The counter clerk behind the window was short with me and asked the same questions on the form, and told me to go sit down and wait 2 hours before I can get fingerprinted and such.
I really starting thinking did I fill in the wrong form? Meaning was this a rehab form for previous molester or offenders?
Well needless to say 15mins later the finger print lady showed up and was a lot more pleasant. I mentioned how glad I was I didn’t have to wait 2 hours, after all I was taking time off work to drive over and hand in my volunteer form.
But the whole procedure and treatment I got I’m sure is nothing different than a criminal.
Yep, they got into catholic orphanages, why not the school system. One can only imagine what goes on in child protective services and family courts.

I have always held it against Mike Harris, as Premier of Ontario, that he could have taken a short
walk from his office over to the Department of Education, and fired the lot; but didn’t.
But isn’t EVERY single person involved with education a selfless hero? That’s what we’re constantly told. Are you saying that we’ve been LIED to?!?
The solution is easy.. School should be the 3 Rs and any extra activities should have at least one conservative parent involved.. 2/3s of the pedo problem wiped away with the stroke of a pen..
The last thing the pedo pervert enabler wants is young Johnny going home to a strong united family and telling them that Mr pedo touched me.. So we need to pass laws that strengthen the family unit and weaken the ever growing leftist control over our children’s lives..
What is the point of selling divorce and sexual diversity to children to young to understand the concept?
Whats the point of alienating children from a traditional family in the school system?
Why in a democracy are our children held to the leftist progressive political standard in school, when its obviously seriously lacking in many areas including child safety?
Our education system needs the balance of democracy.. Its a self regulating system that encourages honest dealing in every aspect of the job.. There is no overriding political self interest with viable alternatives hanging in the air.. You fail or go to far down the wrong road then its the opposition educators turn to make things right, if they can..
Most importantly education would represent the community that their working in.. Not some whack job University campus social studies experiment.. Our children deserve better treatment and the basic common dignity of being able to draw their own conclusions on matters that have nothing to do with the 3Rs..
This is good to know…especially knowing that all the areas that I have volunteered to work with children for the last few years have enforced the mandatory police checks.
The churches and organisations have made sure that every detail was in place to ‘avoid the appearance’ of child abuse, sometimes to the extreme.
And now we find out that this perv would have scrapped the process.
I want to vomit.
Boy! Wait till Ontario parents find out about this!
