  1. Did you read the whole article?
    //
In May, Federal Court Judge Richard Mosley threw out the voters’ case because it couldn’t be proven that the results of the election had been affected by the robocalls. He did, however, find there had been a “concerted campaign” of electoral fraud conducted by persons who has access to a database of voter information.
Mosley found the most likely source of the database was the voter identification system owned by the Conservative Party. But he found no evidence of fraud by any of the Conservative MPs or by the party.
    […]
In his ruling, Justice Mosley had plenty to say about costs in the case, particularly costs run up due to what he called “trench warfare” waged by the MPs. He accused the MPs of trying to “block these proceedings by any means” and ordered them to pay the costs of many motions they introduced that ended up delaying the proceedings.
The voters, he said, “sought to achieve and hold the high ground.”

More dirt on the face of power.

  2. After the judge ruled the calls did not affect the election results, the hatred and pile-ons continue in the comments section.
But then, what else can anybody expect from the CBC’s Toronto viewer base? They’ve held Canadian political power for a long time due to the tyrrany of a higher population and will need more than McGuinty before humility dawns on them.

  3. Summary:
Robocalls occurred, source is unknown, but list came from tories, results are not overturned, no evidence of fraud by the tories.
Case launched by leftie activists, they lost -therefore they pay.
Their lawyers should be as cuplable as they are, had they been worth any salt they should have clearly advised them that the case was weak. Maybe they did, but the activists wouldn’t listen – who knows.
They still lost, they should pay.
This is why we don’t have an American (or German or to some extent UK) lawsuit culture. Loser pays, means people think twice before going to court.
This also helps to prevent activists from attempting to use courts to over-rule election results or processes, something which is clearly out of hand in the US. I have no doubt at all that some of the leftie pushing in this case had an american democratic flavour to it.

  4. The first comment I read said they expected the taxpayers to pay the bills of the MPs. Not at all, they expect the “Council of Canadians” to cover the costs. Which they promised to do. Freakin morons…

Maybe someone else might say the Conservative MPs held the high ground, winning the election and winning the court case despite the trench warfare by the voters and the Council of Canadians.

  6. When crypto socialists like the Conservatives fight the actual communists like the Counsel of Canadians I can only wish there were a way that both could lose.

Wow. You are disgusting. The court found that there was a deliberate attempt to suppress votes. These guys should be in jail. They are an affront to democracy. They may as well have travelled back in time to WWII, found a soldier dying on the battlefield, and slapped their dicks in his face. Their actions are that disgusting.
Now they’ve turned around and sued the people who they attempted to mislead with their sleazy rat f#cking robocalls.

  8. Not sure yet as to the wisdom of pursuing the legal cost….on the face of it of course it’s the right thing to do. But in a strategic sense it just gives the lefty psychos a very underhanded and deceitful club to keep beating on the CPC sigh…
However as the CPC is now pot committed then drive the dagger in to the hilt!

  9. Wow, what awesome logic you have. The judge found there had been a concerted campaign, but didn’t find “who” orchestrated the concerted campaign. He ruled that the people accused in this case did not. In spite of that, you want to put them in jail.
What a piece of work you are. And invoking a disgusting analogy involving soldiers just adds to your overall douchiness.

  10. You just did. And you’d be right.
I don’t precisely understand the ruling, if the reporting is accurate (and we know what that means…). Is the judge in the case suggesting that the respondents have a more constricted and truncated right to zealously pursue their own defence than the plaintiffs have to pursue their accusations? If so, on what basis?
If that is what the ruling implies, then it only makes sense for the Conservative MPs to demand costs, and to go to whatever lengths are available to re-affirm their equality before the law — as if that was in doubt, anyway. I hope they win, again.

  11. You can disagree but your comparison is truly vile and bears no credence – typical of the left, zero sense of proportion.

  12. John “They may as well have travelled back in time to WWII, found a soldier dying on the battlefield, and slapped their dicks in his face.”
Where is this coming from? Get help man!

  13. How, exactly, would one go about putting the MPs in question in jail, given what we know about the matter?
I’m trying to understand how this isn’t just another case of you attempting to misrepresent the obvious. Can you help me out at all?

  14. This wouldn’t be the first time a subversive joined an election campaign and destroyed or stole documents. I was involved in a campaign where that happened. Background check of the “volunteer” revealed a criminal background.
In one of the Robocol incidents the culprit was outed, a Pierre Poutine.

  15. The suit was a waste of the courts time, they should have to pay the Conservative legal bills and they should be slammed with pain and suffering payments as well.

  16. Who’s the “They” your talking about so far it’s been the liberals found guilty of making robo calls. Such an angry little progressive, more eye liner might help honey.

  17. My colourful metaphor was to indicate the depth to which the CPC has sunk. It’s that gross.
No. Of course it wasn’t those MP’s behind those robocalls? They only they happened in their ridings. Sure, it could have been the CP operating without their knowledge, but somebody was up to something.
You can’t tell me that they couldn’t get to the bottom of it if they wanted to. It’s just a matter of time/staff/money. And really… I don’t care how much it costs. When we are talking about people suppressing votes, something people have fought and died for in this country, you go after those people no matter what and prosecute to the fullest extent of the law. I don’t care who they are, be they liberals, conservatives, ndp, or santa claus. Go get them.
But you guys… you guys are fine with it, because you are partisan goofs no matter what happens. You’re lucky you have an inherent right to democracy, because your poor characters are not deserving of it.

  18. “..colourful metaphor..” is that what u call it?
Your odious metaphor demolishes any point u seek to make. Who would bother to read past it – who could take u serious?

  19. A society will end up with the most vulgar, capricious, vile, and corrupt government that they are willing to put up with. Limiting the capacity of individuals to possess arms raises the bar, but ultimately doesn’t lift the limit. Canada has a very good government compared to most around the world. Even the kleptocratic Liberals are pikers in the grand scheme of things.
John’s whining about the little things should illustrate to all of us how fortunate we are. In this particular case, some who tried to use the legal system as a punishment against those with whom they disagree have now been presented with the bill after they lost in their efforts. Almost anywhere else in the world, they would have disappeared. In some particularly obnoxious locales, their families would have been presented with the bill for the bullet used to kill them.
Thanks for the reminder of how lucky, and free, we are, John. Enjoy your little conspiracy theories. Much like Phil with his consistent refrain about what money grubbing parasites farmers must be, you make some of us think a little deeper about the “cause” you’re promoting, and provoke a satisfaction that we live in a good system. It’s flawed of course, because it features humans. I’d rather have a fundamentally good system with flaws than a fundamentally flawed system that occasionally manages to do some good.

  20. The really big problem here is win, lose, or draw, it will be us sucker taxpayers who will pay.

  21. John – Have you been slapped in the face by dick (your metaphor) To repeat, in over 2 years since the election, only the Liberals have been proven to have made illegal robocalls.

  22. Hey Gunney;
No, this wouldn’t be the first time a subversive joined an election campaign and destroyed or stole documents, or engaged in other forms of subterfuge.
Most of us are conservative here. According to the lefties perception of us we should have gotten to the paranoid explanation sooner.
Of course, just because I’m paranoid doesn’t mean I’m wrong.

  23. I like how the ceeb report repeatedly describes the complainants as “voters” …. should have called the turkeys what they are … liberal activists.

  24. Hopefully the terrorists will be bankrupted out of existence.

  25. “Color full metaphor” was simply “johns” inner homo coming out.
He needs to stay away from kids.

  26. Any truth to the rumour that Maude B. and Peter C. wanted to use some new-fangled auto-call system to drum up donations to their legal defence fund, but optics prevent them from doing so? 😉
