Reader Tips

Men typically try to solve minor relationship disputes by bringing up so-called “facts,” but sometimes it’s not about facts, it’s about feelings.
Okay? Alright? See what I mean? Are you even listening?

  1. Trey Gowdy is a Representative in the House of Representatives, not a Senator. His resume has some highlights including his tenure as a United States Attorney, roughly equivalent to a canadian federal prosecutor. So, he’s sitting on the perfect committee.
    I doubt he’ll succumb…

  2. I mailed a letter from a full service rural post office in Assiniboia, Sk. on Thursday, May 23, 2013. The letter was destined for a bank in Moose Jaw, Sk., 60 miles away. 15 days later, the letter that contains important documents has still not arrived. Anyone having similar problems??

  3. Lev, earlier today I scheduled Mr. Gowdy’s excellent speech to run here tomorrow on SDA. I hope everyone listens as acutely as you & I did for what he had to say was very important.

  4. Wrong generation. Even looking at a child not related to you is grounds to make you a potential molester and if one falls and hurts himself, don’t even think of helping him/her. Even Block parents can’t be trusted and have been shut down. Sad to say, but passing cards out to children should be avoided at all cost even if your intentions are above board. Free advice, take it.

  5. Well in my opinion it sounds like a huge overreaction to the thing, BUT and I think most people today would agree, handing out cards to children is very creepy. You would definitely get yelled at by me if you walked up to my kids and struck up a conversation and handed them a card. Seriously very weird and creepy business strategy. I’ll talk to young children on the street and invite 12 year olds to visit my website. CREEPY

  6. Why Finnish Babies Mostly Sleep In Cardboard Boxes!

The maternity package – a gift from the government – is available to all expectant mothers.
It contains bodysuits, a sleeping bag, outdoor gear, bathing products for the baby, as well as nappies, bedding and a small mattress.
With the mattress in the bottom, the box becomes a baby’s first bed. Many children, from all social backgrounds, have their first naps within the safety of the box’s four cardboard walls.
Mothers have a choice between taking the box, or a cash grant, currently set at 140 euros, but 95% opt for the box as it’s worth much more.

    Oh yeah?
Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus — and that’s a fact.

  8. The mail service has slowed considerably. We received a first class letter on June 7th mailed May 29th at Vancouver. Five years ago the same letter would be in our hands sometimes as early as the 3rd business day after mailing. Postal workers are on an anti-Harper slowdown.

“We have arrived at a defining moment for the progressive movement in this nation.
The New York Times editorial board, which has generally given this president a lot of leeway throughout his career, wrote a scathing denunciation Friday of the Obama administration’s use of data mining, claiming that “the administration has now lost all credibility” on the issue of balancing civil rights with national security.
Every progressive with even a shred of moral consistency should side with the New York Times against the White House.”

“The “small people”, the “rank and file”, the “loyal soldiers” of the narcissist – his flock, his nation, his employees – they pay the price. The disillusionment and disenchantment are agonizing. The process of reconstruction, of rising from the ashes, of overcoming the trauma of having been deceived, exploited and manipulated – is drawn-out. It is difficult to trust again, to have faith, to love, to be led, to collaborate. Feelings of shame and guilt engulf the erstwhile followers of the narcissist. This is his sole legacy: a massive post-traumatic stress disorder.”

  11. Apparently there’s a woman in Seattle who is attempting to live on a ‘diet of sunlight and water’ for six months.
She calls it ‘Living on Light’. Wasn’t that attempted at a place called Auschwitz some years ago?

  12. Revnant Dream, I read that Glick piece earlier this morning.
I was most gratified to read toward the bottom a precis of what I’ve tried to explain to ET: that Obama is a ideologue. Her main point is that after a failure, he doubles down on the failed strategy. That is always the clearest sign that someone is acting ideologically and not merely out of a personality disorder.
When a mere narcissist senses disapproval (a denial of “supply) he will change his behaviour to regain that supply. Obama, I believe, is the most ideological of all US presidents.
However, I believe that most people fail to understand that what they call failures are successes in O’s ideological books.

It seems that if you take a long time to compose a comment, captcha fails.
Here’s what I’ve been doing with a 100% success rate.

  14. California’s latest gun buy back…
“An elementary school in Hayward, Calif. will sponsor a toy gun trade-in, encouraging kids to swap their harmless toy weapons for a chance to win a new bicycle.
The purpose of the trade-in is to stop children from playing with toy guns, which may make them more likely to commit violence with real guns, said Strobridge Elementary principal Chris Hill.
“Playing with toys guns, saying ‘I’m going to shoot you,’ desensitizes them, so as they get older, it’s easier for them to use a real gun,” Hill said in a statement to Mercury News.”

*There doesn’t seem to be anyone questioning if this will lead kids to a life of gambling… it is after all, a lottery.

  15. ” Postal workers are on an anti-Harper slowdown.”
No,that is not true. While the union leaders are very political, the rank and file are not.
Likely the problems with the mail delivery stems from a change in the basic delivery system going on in the post office at this time.

  17. mnd- no, I’ve said that after a failure, Obama does two things.
First, he attemtps to denigrate his opponents and ‘get his way’ via this Appeal to Emotion. That is, he doesn’t deal with the issue but with his opponents.
Second, he’ll ignore all opposition as if it doesn’t exist, because, a concomitant tactic is that he builds up a majority mass of sycophant followers who will do whatever he wants regardless of the value of the issue.
Finally, you cannot differentiate between someone’s ‘doubling their efforts due to their having an ideology OR having a deep psychological need to control. I maintain the latter if valid for Obama; he doesn’t give a hoot for theories; he’s only interested in power.
