Standing before world and regional leaders on May 26, Kerry said plaintively, “This will help build the future. Is this a fantasy? I don’t think so.”
Abbas and his underlings wasted no time, however, in demonstrating that a indeed, Kerry’s plan is fantasy.

“Am I a moron? I don’t think so.”
What a tool! How can someone that mind-numbingly naïve ever manage to get to that position?
Like a dog peeing on a hydrant, Kerry will have to leave his mark. The desperation for any kind of break through is showing but by ignoring history and the animosity that is entrenched it will be a failure. Egypt was the power broker and it has it’s own problems. Syria has already lost control of the Golan heights to Al Qaeda once and the 1000 peace keepers there are keeping their heads down. Austria is pulling out their 300+ troops and the rest will follow. Israel knows full well that their tiny population of less than 7 million is bordered by 125+ million Arabs and that Obama can not be trusted. Assad will fall to either Hezbollah forces or Al Qaeda forces. The Christians in Syria are fully in support of Assad. That alone should tell us that working with a dictator might have been smarter than the alternatives. Kerry should know that Hamas , Hezbollah and Al Qaeda all see him as a lapdog from a regime they detest. kerry should just go home because the dice have been rolled and if Assad falls the noose will tighten much further around Israel. The enemy knows this and the West wants Assad gone. What happens after that will not be pretty. We have a amazing ability to pick the wrong horse in the race. Dictators can be bribed, manipulated, and tamed as long as they get something out of it. Hamas, Al Qaeda and Hezbollah can not. They just want to destroy anything Christian.

the kristians in the middle east are often indistinguisable from the muzzies, except in name. The Hezbollah SUPPORT Assad at the behest of the Iranians. Hezbollah are Shiites and the Syrian opposition are mostly Sunni, and neither sunni nor Shiite has a track record of accommodating the kristians, remember the lebenon civil war?????
True and good points, but without Assad, Hezbollah and Muslim brotherhood would be interchangeable and all of them want to destroy Israel. Much like Sadam, Assad is the glue that kept it together.
Thanks peterj.
saying Hezbollah and the MB are interchangeable is like saying white conservatives and Black democraps are the same, they are like night and day, Hezzies are Shiites and the MB are sunni, they only common ground is “the enemy of my enemy”. Assad and Sadam are in the same position , in that they are from minorities and need to pull in as many diverse groups as possible just to stay in power. And as to the Joos, the extreme orthodox are as bad as the muzzies, many would even welcome the destruction of Israel, in fact when Iran held an anti Israel forum in Iran there were some Orthidox Joos in attendance,. Their religious beliefs are not all that different and they tend to treat their women in a similar manner.
SO, pace ET, then, Arafat-Abbas did not recognize Israel’s right to exist and a bi-national federation is on hold for the moment even with gifted billions in 50%-boosting GDP!
They could pick it out on a western-style map, but never, ever, believed that it should not be erased from said map.
The biggest problem western elites have with this perpetual conflict is not how complex it is, but how very, very simple it is. Every day punters like me have understood this since June 5, 1967 at the ripe old age of 18. I didn’t get in 1948 ‘cos I was only -1 of age.
Hey anything for the Jihad cause. Is the Obama administrations Motto.Along with Sharia Law of course for all.
In Arafat style, won’t more billions end up in Abbas’s pocket than any one else’s. I think the only economic growth we will see is in the Swiss banking sector.
People are fighting over land when the true economic value is in human capital. Because the Palestinians have declared themselves at war for 65 years, their human capital has depreciated to the value of dog crap.
Four billion isn’t enough in jizra, I suppose. John Kerry had better tell the Foulness to ramp up the printing presses!
