Personally I believe any “application” which demands you list your race, ethnicity, sex and name is inherently racist. Obviously the applicant will be screened as per their race etc. and not merit alone. In dealing with these bigoted culture warriors in administrative positions, applicants should be identifies by a number only.

Human Resources departments are full of people like this with plenty of ‘women’s studies’ courses under their belts. Our son applied for an engineering job at a place where he was told “we’re trying to change the culture here”. Rather than attempt to figure out what the hell that meant or if he was even entitled to apply for the posted job he gave up on the place and found an excellent job elsewhere.
When I went to the University of Lethbridge I had to take a sociology course as part of my business degree. We had an Iranian prof who told all of us that white males should be put at the back of the hiring line until such time that others were lifted to a similar level of advantage. You see white males get where they do because their forefathers pillaged and suppressed others, not because of hard work or intelligence.
Well said. A hunch tells me that this is rampant all over North America. Nothing against the ladies, but why else are females in the majority in most university disciplines.
A pattern seems to be developing here that is somewhat similar to that in the former Soviet Union where drunkenness was and is still rampant. In the case of Russia the hopelessness generated by socialism made shiftless men. In North America, society decries the shiftless young male who does not seem to be interested in school or work or in raising a family, and this sort of gender bigotry fosters this. Why are there so few male teachers in our school systems?

I’ve seen this piece before, and I was skeptical then, but now that I’ve read that blog (feministconservative), it’s a clumsy and brief attempt to troll the conservative side of the internet.

Yes, it does happen, as blatantly as this. It happened to me personally at UofT, as mentioned above. It happened to me AGAIN at Hunter College in NYC in the mid 1990’s. Refused to even consider my application until I threatened to sue them, then sent a rejection letter.
I’m a PT anyway. Having finally got admission to a school, it was CAKE compared to basic physics and chemistry. The hardest part was not laughing at the more PC parts of the training. Take that, harpies.
As to lawsuits, UofT was successfully sued by a guy around 1990/91 because he was denied entrance to the PT program, but they accepted several women with lower marks and less experience than he had. I applied a year or so after that guy won his case. The year I applied they were still rejecting white males with 3.8 to 4.0 GPAs on very flimsy pretexts.
I have no information about the case presented in Kate’s post. I can promise you this type of behavior by university admissions boards is -rampant- throughout the USA and Canada.
Coming soon to an engineering school near you, by the way. Femmies are on the warpath that Bambi and Shaniqua WILL become engineers. Any bridges that fall down because math is hard, that’s not their problem.
Using the standards of Progressivism, we find an easy remedy: arbitrarily decline the applications of qualified females until society has made up for past discrimination.
The misspellings show that Georgetown was stupid enough to hire someone who didn’t even have the proper qualifactions to screen applications.
I remember when I applied for my PhD, one of my recommenders told me that I was already starting off from a disadvantaged position, being a white male and all. I stared at her politely, and shook my head in agreement. Then I laughed out loud once I left her office. These people are truly insane.
Fortunately, I think the problem is not widespread to all areas of university. Its mainly a liberal arts thing, mainly because in the liberal arts, once you’re in, you can finish with your eyes closed. If an unqualified candidate was accepted into an engineering program, for example (and I’m certain that many are in order to fill certain quotas), they ain’t gonna make it OUT.
Frankly, this isn’t all bad. If the liberal arts majors continue down this path, they will be even less respected, less valued, and more useless than they already are. Why should I try to stop their own self-destruction?
