After school board honcho Chris Spence and staff reporter Madhavi Acharya Tom-Yew were both caught plagiarising a few weeks ago, the Toronto Star started using anti-cheating software called iThenticate, to help them with the problem.

Leftards are so stupid(which cannot be fixed, ignorance can). The commie writing(plagiarising) the story has to run it through the cheat program himself. Yeah. Like that’s going to happen in an eon.A few lines off code, and bingo,it runs automatically. But we all know that wasn’t the intent of the Tor Red Star to start with.
heh his nickname can be Cheat Spence 😀
The Toronto Star has an excellent Driving section.
That’s it. Nothing more.
Here’s what the plagiarizing journo’s boss, Kathy English, had to say about Curtis Rush who wrote the article about Reeva Steenkamp:
Here’s what happened here: Another reporter who had been searching earlier for background information on the dead woman handed him [Rush] that ‘profile’ information in hard copy early yesterday when his shift began. He did not realize it had come from the website of the television show. He had her picture and the information in front of him and thought he was correct in attributing it to her profile. Looking at this now, we think the attribution should be more specific in indicating that this profile information came from the TV show website.
Duh.
If you’re a reporter, writer, editor, you check your sources before writing or accepting anything from a third party. Making assumptions is deadly but journalists today don’t seem to think anything of jumping to conclusions and/or cutting and pasting others’ work without attribution.
When I was in school, batb, we had give documentation for paraphrasing! Plagiarism earned an automatic 0 on any paper and often expulsion without compensation for tuition etc. IMO, plagiarism is theft and the thief should be hauled up before a jury and forced to pay compensation to the victim.
Plagiarism is theft, Jema54. It’s theft of intellectual property. Sadly, theft doesn’t seem to bother most people these days — only if they get caught.
The Star? Plagiarism? Not surprising this happened to a partisan propaganda echo chamber that hasn’t had an original idea since Marx died.
Liberal journalists are terribly frightened of going ‘off-message’, theirs peers would shun them and they could find themselves quickly unemployed. Plagiarizing each other’s crap allows them to rest easy and their betters in the establishment appreciate it because it makes it easier to control the herd.
Only if they are caught? Sorry batb. Even if they are caught, doesn’t bother them in the least. Leftards and crooks are the same,no shame.
