When Trudeau first came to power in Canada, Canada was 10M in the black and had around 1000 Metric Tonnes of Gold in reserve. When when the Liberals finally left power, the Total Sovereign Debt of Canada was 4T, and we had about 3T of gold left. The Provinces alone are around 1T in debt. Taxes now consume more of the average Canadian Family budget than they keep for Food, Clothing and Shelter combined. Taxes have risen around 1800% since 1961. And the nation has been balkanized off into Indian 1st Nation fantasies, Quebec National fantasies and the usual Multi-Kult fantasies. We only have around 16m taxpayers to be milked to carry this burden. Can’t see it lasting as a country, as the world financial system unravels.

    It is the universal playbook of socialists and wanna-be socialists.
    And still the sheeple vote for them.
    Sadly, I can’t say that the current generation of “conservatives” are much better. They are just less bad.

  5. The difference between Canada and Australia is that the latter is at a low ebb while the former at a high ebb. Australia will (probably) give Gilliard the boot though there’s not much reason to believe Abbot will be a whole lot better. I think he’ll reject a lot of eco-lunacy. Canada, however, has a leader whose interest in rolling back the state, if he ever had any, is exhausted, and will probably blow the next election to another statist.

    We just finished watching a 6 DVD set about Rome called, “Rome: Power and Glory”. It was put together by a company called Questar for TLC. Comparisons about Rome’s rise, aspirations of the people, the moral decline, the eventual control of the entitlement mob on the political process, the peak and the decline are almost unbelievable in their similarity to not only the events of the last few decades in the US, but also in the west in general. The various history professors from the US and from Britain did not realize they could have been talking about western culture.
    And the Vandals are waiting.

  9. We are witnessing the unintended consequences of tearing down the Iron Curtain and the Bamboo Curtain. Before Reagan tore down the wall. Hundreds of millions of slave labour communist workers made unmarketable junk, that nobody in the west would buy. Part of the cold war was creeping socialism in the west to keep the masses happy. The west had the monopoly in trade in the world except for what lay behind the iron curtain. When the curtain came down hundreds of millions of workers behind the iron curtain who worked for food basically were an asset to be exploited by globalism. All was going well, cheap labour and western investors and know how was a marriage made in heaven at first. But the western leaders all forgot about the socialist herion that they had been drip feeding to the masses in the west to keep them off the streets. Now that the socialist policies of western governments are finally being dismantled the crap is hitting the fan. The credit cards of the west are maxed and the clean up is beginning. We are going to experience our Russian collapse in order to clean up the books. The good old glory days for the blue collar workers in the west are gone forever. All that is left to get the axe are the public sector workers. And they will fight their rear guard action until the system is collapsed. The socialist drip feed started during the WW1 with David Lloyd George to buy peace at home during the war, and became the model due to the depression, etc. FDR adopted the ideas in the USA and then came the ww2 and the cold war. Canada’s GDP is around 1.2Trillion and our Total Sovereign Debt is around 5Trillion and our treasury is now empty of gold…
