There’s the other alternative which most of you are missing. Why would the RCMP and Rev Can be interested? Because they smell a rat in a province which has had a string of political finance corruption stretching back decades.
A bunch of someones in both federal departments just might want to know if a bunch of foreign enviro-lobbies went and bought themselves a mayor of Canada’s third largest city. In short, is Tides a real charity as it claims on its tax returns, or is it a money-laundering operation?
Why is Tides looking? They just might want to know just how much about their operations Vivian Krause has discovered and how much of it they can still hope to bury in a hole somewhere.

Ezra went after Tides a few months back, which at the time didn’t seem to cause much stir. But silence does not necessarily equate with nothing going on. I have a friend that works for the CRA and am told that their bonuses are now tied to performance, very much in large parts thanks to changes made by Minister Clement. That cannot be a good thing for many of these so called environmental charities that have long been sloshing money around like the mob in it’s heyday. I’ll bet they’d be low hanging fruit for an eager tax-man.
There is a “Watergate”-sized scandal lurking behind the scenes in BC politics,concerning elections bought,foreign donations, green agendas,and outright fraud.
Vivian Krause has been in the forefront of the bloggers examining the relationships between American activist foundations and BC politicians, the MSM has hardly reported a thing.
The Lower Mainland voters don’t seem to mind Chicago-style politics in their cities,after all, most of them worship Obama.
As I’ve said before, she deserves a medal,or the Order,for all her good work.
Forgive my eternal skepticism, but could Vivian be the one under scrutiny?
I mean, this is how the eco-parasites work – the best defence is an immediate counter-attack.
Folks, it’s pure speculation on my part. And like a good corrupt politician, by defending Tides, Gregor Robertson is staying bought. He may be corrupt, but he’s not a thief, if you catch my drift. Tries to give value for money, and all that.
One of the first things you do in an investigation is look at everyone who’s written about something, see what they have. If you’re the Mounties, you’re looking for something much more solid that mere information; you’re looking for evidence. And things like Krause’s blog can provide useful insights as to where to start pulling out the threads to unravel this dirty sweater.
All I’m saying is don’t be spectacularly surprised if someday we hear the sounds of sirens howlin’ ’round the bend on 12th Avenue.
It’s a sound familiar to more than a few BC politicos over the years.
And while I’m having fun here, anyone notice that with the egregious exception of Grant Devine’s Saskatchewan, all of the most politican-busted provinces are those that are the most left wing? BC and Quebec?
Boy, I hope cgh is right, but it does have that, as sasquatch suggests, cold war smell. Equating the former Kremlin apparatchiks with similar characters behind Tides is not a stretch, as there seems to be a concerted effort by these people to take over the administrations of major Canadian cities.
Jamie, you can be very sure that Tides has ZERO influence with a Harper-government-run RCMP and Revenue Canada, or indeed much of anything to do with the federal government these days. Those bureaucrats at Environment Canada and other such places who do have such sypmpathies are running rather scared these days after the purging that happened at Environment after the leaks some years ago.
Much more reasonable to suggest that Tides is having its rock turned over. See what little uglies are hiding there. Ockham’s Razor and all that.
The mayor of Vancouver has quite an interesting background in a major criminal enterprise which is a big part of BC’s economy if you catch my drift.
I think I read it here that Tides had given Indian Chiefs along the pipeline route $5.7 million to oppose the pipeline.I am sure their band members don’t know about it and don’t know why they are protesting except that they are told it will be bad for them.
Heaven forbid they earn their own money instead of being dependant.
Vivian Krause’s look at how the David Suzuki Foundation used research from the U of A that was also featured in the Financial Post’s “Junk Science Week” is an eyeopener.
I’m going to guess that the RCMP are on a budget and Revenue Canada is simply too lazy to do its own research, so they’re using Vivian’s time spent researching, to further their ends.

Yes, the operations of Tides should receive close scrutiny, as one of its major purposes is to launder money so that a donor’s cash can flow through Tides to end up as a donation to New Left organizations, such as PETA, and the Islamic group CAIR, and many others, without those funds being traceable back to supposedly main line charitable foundations, such as Pew, Heinz, etc.
Tides has yearly income of over $50 million, and is a primary funder of the radical left.

They lobbied hard for federal contributions to intervenor funding when CEAA was originally passed in the early 1990s. And ever since the failure of Quebec’s Grande Baleine project, all the enviro lobbies know that the aboriginal protest is the most effective method of stopping anything.

The many visits by Tides could also be to research everything she has said, in order to attempt a SLAPP type suit against her. in order to either shut her up, or discredit her, or both.

Jeez, I hope you’re right, cgh. Our lazy/ incurious/cowardly/biased press has turned a blind eye to the workings of a whole host of eco-parasites.
Environmental Defence, Ontario Nature, Ducks Unlimited, etc., etc.
For example, DU Canada alone sucked over $22 million from federal, provincial and municipal coffers last year.

Well, let’s hope all this activity means that CRA is finally looking into the money-laundering carried out by Tides Foundation and Tides Canada. Using its charity status, Tides issues tax receipts for donations then passes the donated money on to organizations engaged in political activity.
I always remember a conversation with a NDPer after we had re-elected our Reform MP. He congratulated our victory while complaining about NDP members who wouldn’t volunteer and wouldn’t donate. “I envy your ability to do both”.
The role that “Tides” plays in BC politics has been known for years. The Robertson connection will probably go public during the next provincial campaign and the downside nullified as Christy Clarke’s involvement in the BC Rail sale is aired once more. We get what we deserve I guess.
Hats off the Vivian K for staying at alternative media’s “investigate and expose corruption” spearhead. Proving why the public abandoned the uninquisitive,partisan media for internet news sources – MSM silence/non curiosity is part of the political corruption.

Me too. As far as I know they do a lot of good work in reclaiming otherwise useless wetlands to make them friendly for Ducks,….for hunting purposes….which is why PETA hates them. Anyone PETA hates has got to be alright.
These things have a way of crossing idealogical lines. A couple of years back DU was on a list of eco nazis destributed by one of the usual suspects.
Turns out that they had done some water survey in Ft MacMurray (remember when the ducks died on the tailing pond?) and were lumped in with all the ‘tar sands’ loving glowball warmers. Huh?
Yes they partner with industry and gov’t and are often asked for expert opinion but eco-parasite?
They are a volunteer organization not a lobby group.

And if you want some more ‘facts’ about DU Canada – How much it pays it’s brass, and how it assists governments in non-voluntary acquisitions of private property – you can dig up Ian Cumming’s articles from the Ontario Farmer weekly.
And after you’ve checked these things out, maybe you could answer this question: Given these facts, why should DU Canada be viewed as anything else?

They have scientists on staff who provide advice to the private sector as well as government. It’s not a bad thing to have a private organization giving professional opinion to government.
As to the salaries that are paid. Good people demand a good wage scale. DU is competing for these people and has to pay a salary that will attract them.
I am aware of Ian Cummings and respect his opinion but he is a bit out of his depth here.

Sure, along with the Suzuki foundation, Environmental Defence, CPAWS and Ontario Nature.
How about this: DU Canada is just another money-grubbing ‘conservaion’ organization that manages to suck tens of millions of dollars every year from gullible tax-payers.
And I’ll concede one thing:Ian Cumming is indeed ‘out of his depth’ on this issue. The story about our ‘conservation’ organizations and their massive cash-grabs should be making headlines in our national media, instead of the back pages of the relatively obscure farm newspaper that he writes for.
The air is a bit out of the balloon here but let me say this.
DUC is a volunteer conservation organization. They do indeed partner with private individuals, corporations and goverments.
You may not agree with the mission of DUC but lumping them into the the same groups as Ian Cummings suggests is simply ignoring the facts.
Are you against all conservation organizations?
Which ones do you support? Volunteer ones? Corporate?
