McGuinty’s remarks and resignation should be a heads up for Albertans about Liberals.
David McGuinty didn’t have the guts, conviction, or the integrity to apologize or withdraw his ignorant remarks, until after Bob Rae apologized on behalf of the Liberal party, and until Trudeau threw McGuinty under the bus and distanced himself from those remarks.
However, Canadians must question the sincerity of this apology, and question where will the Liberals be next month in their position in regards to Alberta and energy, as when Harper pointed out that he finds “it shameful that 30 years after the National Energy Program, these anti-Alberta attitudes are so close to the surface in the Liberal party” and isn’t Ezra Levant’s tweet very revealing when he said “McGuinty made a personal slur about oil and resigned. We’ll soon be thirty years post-Trudeau, and what we learn from this incident is that nothing has changed: the LPC still believes that the job of Alberta MPs is to represent Ottawa’s interests to the hinterland.

The city is represented Provincially by the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario and Federally by the Conservative Party of Canada. In the last elections, both federally and Provincially, the Liberals came in third in the polls.

The people of Lambton County love western oil. After all the first producing oil well in Canada was(and still is) located in Oil City, just a few miles from Sarnia.The economy exists because of oil and represented by such businesses located there as Suncor, Exxon Mobile, Enbridge,Shell, Nova Chemicals and many others.

With the exception of 1968, this riding has seen the Liberal candidates severely spanked by the voters in every election. Even when the conservative vote was split between the PC’s and the Reform/Alliance, Liberals lost and lost badly. PMSH is performing admirably in Ottawa and the Liberals are in complete disarray under an interim leader and nothing on the horizon for leadership hopefuls other than fools.
How in the world can anyone suggest that the Liberals have a shot in this byelection? Am I missing something here?
