  1. Actually, I’ve always been partial to Count the Count; but as a secret weapon to hold in reserve I’d send in Cookie Monster.

  2. Now that I FINALLY get the term “Jump the Shark” may I get ahead of the curve and suggest that “Jumped the Bird” (jumped the big bird?) may be the phrase that will best sum up the ignominious defeat of the American Chavez, B Hussein Obama.
Or am I jumping the gun?

  3. Children’s Television Workshop CEO has a salary of $950,000 a year.
And they need taxpayer subsidy because …?

  4. Romney: “Let’s save America!”
    Obama: “I’ll save Big Bird!”
    It’s all about priorities!

  5. If the Count had been counting US debt in millions of dollars, one million per second, for the entirety of every Sesame Street episode to date (since 1969), he would still be short of the actual value.
Yes…for every second of Sesame Street that has ever aired, the US has a debt of over $1,000,000.

  6. Ah yes dear commenters, but you must think big!
One, two, ….fifteen, sixteen $TRILLION dollars!
    I love to count…

  7. This isn’t even about Sesame Street. SS is separate from PBS, and raises tons of cash through its products (“Nuke ‘Em Elmo” and so on).
At any rate, Sesame Street has asked that the Democrat ad be pulled, lest they be seen as endorsing any party or candidate.

  8. Pack up all my cares and woe,
    Here I go, singing low,
    Bye bye Big Bird
    Where somebody votes for me
Hope and Change is what I see
    Bye Bye Big Bird.
No one here can love or understand you,
Oh, what hard luck stories Lefties hand you,
Make my bed and light the light,
Think I’ll have a beer tonight,
    Big Bird bye bye.

  9. Obama probably thinks Big Bird owes him big time.
Over 1 million in Stimulus money went to SS even though the owners are gazillionaires.
Buying votes from avians must be a new concept.

  10. Thanks Ghost of Ed (3:48 pm) Very catchy and clever. But now I have a brain worm. 🙂

  11. Big Bird….that would be Michelle
    Mr Snuffulufugus is Obama
    Cookie Monster is Joe Binden
    Guy Smiley is Mitt Romney
Kermit the Frog is Paul Ryan
Oscar the grouch is John McCain
    Elmo is Nancy Pelosi

  12. rather than address the issues, the lefties were hoping to “emotionalize” the campaign. “Hopy changy” is worn out so big bird was the new meme

  13. The guy who ‘plays’ Big Bird makes $350,000 a year.
And they need taxpayer’s money because …?

Where did you get your figure from?
On The Five today, the figure is closer to $6 million. I’m not sure of either yours or The Five’s figures.

  15. Latest today is Sesame Street phoned Barry’s campaign office and told them to take it down. Angela Bertinelli on CNBC today was incredulous, couldn’t believe the O’Bots thought Americans were that stupid.
Embassies are on fire, marines are getting killed, the economy is possibly going to tank before Christmas, 20% of employable Americans are unemployed or underemployed, Al Qaeda raised their black flag over the American embassy in Egypt on 9/11… and Barry’s got a freakin’ Big Bird ad.
Its almost as if I, The Phantom, were advising The One. I’d definitely tell him to spend a ton of campaign bucks trying to save Big Bird.

  16. McCain isn’t grouchy enough.
Now Chrissy Matthews fits Oscar the Grouch to a tee. (Sorry Oscar!)
    Guy Smiley and Mitt….oh yeah!

  17. Drudge Report currently has a picture of Big Bird with the headline “Leave me alone, Obama!”
Can you hear the screams of anguish? Like a lullaby, it is.

  18. I don’t have any explicit evidence; I cannot point to that thing and say “see?”.
But it appears that, over the past 24 hours, Romney has gained control of the narative. Given the media advantage Obama had, this is an incredible thing.
Axelrod (note I didn’t refer to Team Obama the bit player), will go mega-negative. It’s their only possible response.
Their MAN is a useless tool, as we all knew, but they cannot swap him out now. They must live and die with the Obewon. It’s their own fault for having built him up as a super hero when he was a super zero.

  19. Well, they must have thought that they were appealing to some demographic or other that was slipping for them — New Yorkers born in 1965 or something. Or maybe they wanted to change the channel from the empty suit-chair — maybe they thought that the preference cascade had begun in earnest and that a mixed message would help to buy them time, while they figured out what to do about it.
Either way, I’m smelling arterial hemorrhage. If that’s not what’s meant by jumping the shark, I apologize.
However, when you consider, in Canada, the response of Mulroney to John Turner’s 1988 debate performance, or even anything Paul Martin, after each of his two successive debate losses, threw up against Stephen Harper, this self-impalement is truly risible — and adds a whole new meaning to LOL.
