Bob Rae could not differentiate between a combine and a cultivator and therefore has no business commenting on farming matters.

I’m no great Harper fan but I must admit there have been times in his administration where I have felt truly proud to be Canadian again.
Like the scrapping of the soviet styled gun registry and destruction of its vile records of innocent Canadians – or the end of CHRA section 13 tyranny on our freedom of expression.
But this last act of a pardon for farmers who faced the abusive enforcement of an unjust law had me swollen up with pride in my government – something that rarely happens.
The Tory spokesman is correct – there is a lot to do to correct the bureaucratic tyranny set in place by control freak Liberal statists.
Now that farmers like Andy McMechan have been exonerated and pardoned and acknowledged as victims of injustice, how will they be compensated for the shattered lives, anguish and virtual torture they went through in prison. (Yes McMechan was subjected to torture – 24 light, 2 hr. strip searches, sleep deprivation, shackles) as political prisoners. Will Harper admit the past Liberal government had political prisoners? How about a pardon for all those innocent Canadians ground up in the abuses of unjust HRC and gun control regimes?
One way or another, the Libs will let go. Or not and perish.

My Dad remembered the ‘birth’ of CWB. During WWII the farmers on the prairies – and in the east – were selling bumper crops with big profits to the war machine. Mr. Mommy (M. King) and his left wing pals (like FDR in USA) could not have rich farmers to attempt to control after the war. Thus the Wheat Board was designed to put a nail in that dream of those independent minded men in the west who owned their own property.
Lots of cheap wheat was shipped overseas to England and USSR. USSR let most of that cheap #1 wheat rot in the harbour (rather than to allow the soviet citizen slaves bread – they didn’t want to ‘spoil’ those cowed people). Ont. had a wheat board at one time, too.

The Wheat Board started out by keeping down grain prices during the war while manufacturing made obscene profits. Then farmers paid for the St. Lawrence Seaway by shipping grain by rail to Thunder Bay and then by boat to Quebec City instead of using Western ports. There was never anything positive about the Wheat Board.

I read hearf this in a radio interview with Andy after he met bail – This from Colby Cosh – “He spent 155 days in prison, living on a cell block with murderers. When the Crown brought him to his bail hearing with shackles around his ankles and wrists, he made sure the photographers could see them. He counted every strip-search he suffered in prison; there were more than 50. Every little humiliation was faithfully recorded and passed along to the Farmers For Justice group (along with Amnesty International, though they never took much notice), and from thence to the western media.”
Among the abuses suffered were keeping lights on 24 hrs, unscheduled strip searches at all hours of the morning and being kept shackled most of the time.
FYI Gun registry protester Bruce Montague faced similar treatment in jail including freezing in a cold damp slime coated cell. Also the state held his house and savings as “proceeds of crime” so he could not afford to defend himself in a constitutional trial.
This is all under control freak statist liberal regimes – these people are hard core tyrants, nothing is out of bounds when they stomp what they consider to be political dissenters. Liberals have political courts, quasi-judicial tribunals, politicized law enforcement and, by extention, political prisoners – just like the soviet systems they copy. The greatest crime under a liberal regime is to dissent to their policies or to be right when they are obviously wrong – expect no empathy except that of a tyrant swatting a fly with a sledge hammer.
