USDA> Memo? What memo?
Was in Santa Monica a few weeks ago and at least 30% of the restaurants were meatless on Monday. Please someone tell me what the difference is between this behaviour and religion.
What next, demanding that we eat fish on Friday?
You’re missing a closing italics tag, Kate. π
Howza about we have an idiot free year?
Ever since Al Gore’s envirothriller I’ve been referring to it as the Church of Environtology.
Which isn’t really fair anymore since the true believers make Tom Cruise seem relatively stable.
From the FoxNews article: “Never in my life would I have expected USDA to be opposed to farmers and ranchers,” Moran said in a statement. “American farmers and ranchers deserve a USDA that will pursue supportive policies rather than seek their further harm. With extreme drought conditions plaguing much of the United States, the USDA should be more concerned about helping drought-stricken producers rather than demonizing an industry reeling from the lack of rain.”
Apparently the posting was removed after complaints from the Cattleman’s Association. Of course the socialist one world government UN was quoted in the original meatless recommendation.
The battle against the AGW crowd has not been won and it seems they have infiltrated their filthy creed everywhere.
Heh, Governlent?
It all started with Roosevelt and his Blue Eagle
initiative. Make people feel guilty if they don’t conform to a government plan. It’s gone downhill since then.
Personally I will make damn sure to eat beef on Mondays.
Government as god. The betters you never knew. Wait till this become mandatory for the peasantry . That means you, of course this is for your own good.
They couldn’t wait to kick God out of our civilization trying to replace it with a humanist face.
And nobody will be fired…
This is called the long march through the institutions -cultural marxism.
Let’s see if the Republicans have the guts to collect some USDA scalps over this misuse of funds appropriated to support the cattle industry.
Let me tell you a story,
As a catholic kid growing in a communist run country, where the church said not to eat meat on friday, while communists said that, that was nonsense.
OK.
Some fifteen years later, due to collective farms not being able to produce hardly nothing, the communists decided on meatless thursday, they could not possibly agree with catholics.
OK.
Now, in the once mightiest free nation on this earth is going to do another meat free day. And they will, do not doubt that.
This is simply another bit in a process of bit by little bit they will control you, they will tell you what to do and one day you will wake up and will have no say. And in case you won’t get it they will send you away to think about it.
It has happened before it seems that it will happen again.
It also seems that intervals are getting shorter and shorter until one day when people wake up and say that is bloody enough.
Vegetarian taxpayers have been forced to subsidize freeloading meat farmers since the earth cooled. It’s about time they got some value for their money.
If I was a Yank,I would make damn sure the smell of BBQ’d meat was wafting from my backyard from midnight to midnight every Monday of every week.Yeah.I’m a card carrying member of People Eating Tasty Animals. And BTW,fish is meat.
ok….nothing wrong with dates.ummmmmmmm….fresh,hot,gooey, date squares
This is the rule:
Dont eat animals that eat meat….for eg. bears, lions, monkey meat, etc. Eat animals that eat grains, grass, etc.
Dont eat birds that eat meat, for e.g. gulls, any scavenger, etc. Eat birds that eat grain crops, etc.
Did not Mad Cow Disease appear as a result of not following these rules……
MikeL, you forgot the escape clause, which is: “Unless you’re REALLY hungry because the gubmint men came and took away all the cows. And the corn, and the barley, and the oats, and the flour…”
I think what the USDA newsletter farce actually indicates is simply the extremely poor quality of their employees and middle management. Obviously a cut-and-paste job by some minor minion, signed off by some fat-@rsed middle minion who didn’t read it and/or doesn’t understand the point of even -having- a USDA. The policy from on high is Ecogreen, we put Ecogreen whatever in our newsletter, we’re good to go. Zero thought involved.
Its not a conspiracy, its worse than that. Its the inevitable result of an ever-growing, never-shrinking bureaucracy. Happens in big businesses too, but is most deadly in government where bankruptcy is impossible. Its the root, basic reason why Big Government doesn’t work.
I vote we have F— YOU! Fridays where we all do exactly the opposite of whatever BS the government dumbJohns come up with that month. Kind of like a weekly slow-motion insurrection without the Molotov cocktails and riot cops.
By the way, the appropriate answer to Meatless Monday is to order the club sandwich, otherwise known as the Carnivore special. Not just one but THREE innocent animals die to make your lunch. Hold the lettuce, eh?
Lev, I’ll quit abstaining from eating meat on Fridays when Jews and Muslims quit circumcising their male offspring.
P.S. Lev, I have absolutely no problem with the rite of circumcision in either faith, but I doubt if you will ever get them to stop, it is an ancient tradition. Well, except maybe for Jonathon Kaye, but then I’ll bet Barbara made sure he was “done”!
Are you chirping again phil? What the Hell is this about vegies subsidising cattle men? It hasnt happened and it wont.Allthe great west in the US and Canada is dryland pasture and the cattle men do with the rain that God provides for them.On the other hand, the vegies rely on irragated produce and Mexican labor to feed them so dont try and tell me what is good for the country and what is not.
