Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Me llamo Jorge Zimmerman.
If Zimmerman had gone back to his apt after notifying the police, he wouldn’t have had to go thru this mess, and all this time and money wouldn’t have been spent on a trial.
The dispatcher asked if he was following him (because of his heavy breathing I’m sure) and when he was yes, the dispatcher said they didn’t need him doing that.
Regardless of who Trayton was, Zimmerman was the author of this. If you were in your right mind and a resident in that area where there had been break-ins, why would you go towards a hooded black teenager with something in his hand (his description to the dispatcher)who was hanging around suspiciously and expect something good would come of it? Like maybe a recommendation for neighbourhood watchman of the year
Actually the whole thing wouldn’t have happened if Trayvon had just gone home instead of attacking a man for no reason. Zimmerman is the victim here remember?
This was a regional issue until Obama tried to gin up the base. Too bad George doesnt have the same skin color as Obama or it would all be behind him now.
I agree with James. According to Gellen we must depend on the cops to protect us and we know that seldom happens.
James, exactly.
It was Trayvon who came back and attacked.
Zimmerman was standing at the other end of the block, observing. Trayvon was acting like the ‘hood rat that he was, in the wrong ‘hood.
I guess that for some people, “run and hide in a fetal position” is their only solution to adversity. That’s too bad.
The cops can’t protect everyone. They can only come and draw chalk outlines around bodies and (maybe) figure out and catch the perps.
It looks more and more to me as if Zimmerman did the right thing. Otherwise, as is happening today in Chicago and Detroit, it’s the thugs that make the rules.

Sad all around if you ask me.The truth as usual is probably somewhere in between. If Trayton attacked this guy like it looks like than he got more than he bargined.
Trying to be a ganstra has costs.

Yup, they’re only a phone call away…so keep your shotgun between your bed and your telephone.
Remember, when seconds count the police are only minutes away!
No, Gellen’s comment is worse than just saying Zimmerman shouldn’t have defended himself. He’s saying that Trayvon was someone justified in attacking Zimmerman. Only a street thug thinks that’s acceptable. There’s just no other way that this thing went down. The only injury to Trayvon was the gunshot wound and George had plenty of wounds including a broken nose.
Even the retarded liberal meme that George just shot Trayvon out of cold blood makes no sense. Why call the cops first and then murder someone?

@gellen
The answer to your “question” is: Because Zimmerman was a “neighborhood watch” guy.
Some people run scared some people protect neighborhood.
the worst thing is this guy is in the middle of a criminal trial and he’s on TV talking about it. He should save his testimony for the court room.
gotta wonder about the lawyers that think they can let their clients be so stupid
,idiots

I’m a ‘she’ and will be 84 in August (all gifts gratefully acknowledged).
The dispatcher was still talking to Zimmerman when he took after Trayton. The police were on their way and the dispatcher told him where to be standing to meet them.
Zimmerman did his job when he reported it. Trayton wasn’t threatening anyone’s life at the time so Zimmerman’s zealousness was his downfall.
Sorry fellas and gals, that’s my considered opinion and I’m entitled to it.
You’re certainly entitled and you are correct, it’s best not to approach black people that is true and kind of ironically the argument being advanced by the black activist lynch mob.
I don’t even need to have been there to know what happened.
Trayvon was doing his best to look suspicious in his “hoodie.” The reason they call them hoodies is not limited to the fact they have a hood. Trayvon was a thug wannabe.
Zimmerman was on the lookout for trouble, and he found what he was looking for. He had a hero complex. Maybe the world needs more heroes, but heroes have a tendency to over react.
Zimmerman followed Trayvon and Trayvon saw Zimmerman following him. Trayvon got indignant like a well trained little hoodlum, and probably justifiably so. He wasn’t a criminal, and some Batman wannabe was scoping him out.
Trayvon tried to intimidate Zimmerman the same way Louis Gates got indignant with the cop. Zimmerman would not have thrown the first blow, but Trayvon would have. Trayvon was a strong young thug and Zimmerman was a weak, fat wuss.
Trayvon started whaling on Zimmerman, and Zim shot him. I would have too.
They both provoked each other. No matter how stupid Zimmerman was, he didn’t break any laws. Trayvon made the mistake of throwing an armed man to the ground. It is very unfortunate, but he deserved to be shot. His parents should have taught him not to deal with weirdos, creeps, or bigots with violence.
gellen “The dispatcher was still talking to Zimmerman when he took after Trayton. The police were on their way and the dispatcher told him where to be standing to meet them.”
Apparently the dispatcher in that city was not a police officer and had no authority to order anything. People who think that it is inciting violence to observe people in their neighborhood are pathetic and probably hide in their homes at night. The standard for shooting the little bugger is whether he feared for his safety. Having his head being beaten in would put a big tick in that box.
Many years ago I was helping with security at an event in Winnipeg’s North End. After it was over a veritable riot broke out with various groups of people pounding on each other. We called the police. It took an hour for 2 of Winnipeg’s finest to do a drive by. They might be cowards but they aren’t stupid. If anyone is waiting around for police to rescue them, they could be waiting a long time, a lifetime.
