  2. Modeled after the ‘best’ parts A Clockwork Orange combined with The Wall by Pink Floyd and all about to be run by religious fundamentalists – The Islamic Republik Of Britain.

  3. It’s funny how, as the evidence against AGW continues to pile up, its advocates simply double-down on it:
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2123669/Denial-global-warming-foolishness-says-leading-American-scientist-U-S-losing-prestige-China-stance.html
“In response to claims by some U.S. political parties stating that man-made global warming is a ‘hoax’, Mr Raven said ‘it’s just foolishness’ to believe that global warming isn’t a real threat.
‘It’s not a matter of conjecture anymore,’ Mr Raven told ABC News.”
He goes on to confirm his total disconnect from reality by claiming that attention is now turning to China, viewed as a more positive and influential leader. Yes, China. That country that has gone gangbusters on coal plants and impounded so much water behind the Three Gorges dam that it actually shifted the Earth’s axis.

  4. Cripes Norman I thought your post was in jest until I came across the article.

Unbelievable. When someone takes a punch at you, you respond with as much force as possible. The wildrose and ms smith have nothing to be ashamed of.
I doubt a clearly biased-against-conservatives person like mr. Mason would have written such an article had he been writing about jean Chretien in ’92 being smeared by the PCs for having a facial impairment.

Ahh, them journalists, our betters for sure! Of course the only thing they may be better at than the rest of us is a quick re-write of a headline or two.

  8. Yeah well I recall that….The Falklands War was Britain’s high point post WW2.
    Not so much militarily.
Post WW2 Labour governments had pretty much dismantled the British military.
Briatin’s last coventional carriers had been scrapped or slated to be.
Then the Argies crossed the line.
The Inflexible, second of the Invincible class was not due to launch for 3 years. In about 3 months it arrived off the Falklands, complete, trialed, manned and updated with the War’s experience involved…..NO WORK TO RULE, no tea breaks…
It’s arrival gave the RN fleet organic AWACs…as well as another flight-deck.
The role of the exocet missile was a signal setback for the Soviet blue water navy….the first step in convincing the USSR it’s conventional military was obsolescant/obsolete.

  9. What can one say? Margaret Thatcher hauled the Brits out of their own s**t,
but as soon as they could get rid of her (they did like the Falkland War) they dived right back in.

  10. Re: globe article by gary mason
Wow… I’ve never seen a better example of media bias in my life.
“(The wildrose party) wanted a story. And when no media bit, Ms. Smith sent out a news release the next day.”
What!? There was lots of people talking about this well before Smith’s statement!
“Why did (the wildrose party) want to ensure that the breathtakingly immature comments of a low-level staffer in the Premier’s Calgary office to a small number of followers got wider play?”
Right, because she was just a secretary sitting in a cubicle somewhere in a basement in downtown calgary, that went ‘rogue’ and sent a stupid career-ending tweet. Do they really think we’re that stupid? I can’t wait for April 23, this is going to be a rout.

  11. Silly Danielle Smith, she should have just apologized to the poor dear for being misunderstood. These journos are pieces of TRASH.

  12. At the beginning of Holy Week, here’s Johnny Cash and company singing “Were You There When They Crucified My Lord?”. This is not either my favourite song or rendition, but it’s powerful: Johnny Cash’s voice is worth it. And the fact that he believed what he was singing makes it all the more meaningful, IMO.

The role of the exocet missile was a signal setback for the Soviet blue water navy….the first step in convincing the USSR it’s conventional military was obsolescant/obsolete.
That same year the Soviets got more bad news during Isreal’s blitz into Lebanon. A Palestinian observer said, “I saw their (Syrians) positions. They were slaughtered.”
Up in the sky it was worse. In the huge dogfights over the Bekaa Valley the Syrian Air Force lost 85 aircraft, the IAF lost none.
An year earlier 2 squadrons of IAF F-16s and F-15s sneaked into Iraq and knocked out its reactor in a surgical strike without any resistance from its ‘formidable’ Soviet supplied military.
In 1989 Mathias Rust flew 900 miles into the Soviet Union without successful interception.
So much for the invincibility of the Soviets’ monolithic air defense.

  14. Yes, this image of a Cessna SkyhawkII sitting calmly in the middle of Red Square, while the Russian “authorities”, standing around in amongst the awestruck tourists, wondered how they should react. After all, the communist USSR was invincible and great – according to most of the West’s “great” Universities and it’s professors.

  15. For the “It’s probably nothing, Wildrose Country edition” file:
Now even threehundredeight.com, the favoured poll aggregator of the Quebec intelligentsia (having been given the job of reading the poll tea leaves at the federal election by Le Devoir), are being forced to admit a Wildrose majority is a real possibility. This from a website that completely missed the Conservative majority in English Canada and the humiliation of the Bloc.
An austerity-minded government in Ottawa led by westerners is bad enough. Eastern elites can no longer avoid the possibilty of the first premier of Alberta since Rev. William Aberhart actually willing to stand up for Albertans against eastern blood-suckers, communists and traitors–and with financial room for manoeuvre Rev. Aberhart could only have dreamed of. Alberta is still debt free, no thanks to the PCs who raided the Heritage Fund, leaving no possibility that Toronto and Montreal bankers will be able to hamstring Wildrose by threatening to cut Alberta’s credit card in half.
What does Alberta owe Toronto and Montreal in 2012?
    Nothing, absolutely nothing.
When pipelines are finally built that will let Alberta export oil directly to world markets, what incentive will Alberta have to keep covering the bad cheques Toronto and Quebec City write to buy free stuff for the Third World riff-raff of eastern Canada?
    Precisely none.
That sound you hear is the sound of pampered parasites in Toronto, Montreal and Quebec City emptying their bowels in fright.
If this doesn’t bring out the knives for Danielle Smith, nothing will. Sad to say, I don’t just mean in the mainstream media. Were I Danielle Smith, from now on I would wear a bullet-proof vest at all times, and hire the best bodyguards and security for public appearances money can buy—before and after the election. Now that she poses a real threat to Toronto and Montreal elite control of Alberta, and of the oil money that’s keeping the scum of eastern Canada at bay, she’s simply no longer safe.
    Better them than Danielle.

  19. well…that explains THAT…
Ever wondered why it is that Conservatives are called the “right” and Liberals are called the “left”?
“The heart of the wise inclines to the right, But the heart of the fool to the left.” Ecclesiastes 10:2 (NIV) Thus sayeth the Lord.
Can’t get any simpler than that.

  20. Gord Tulk @ 3:20 a.m. and @ 10:01 a.m.:
I read Gary Mason’s article today, and it struck me that HE was the one who was “protesting too much”. Nobody else appears to have thought anything of the sort.
Complaints about alleged hypocrisy on Smith’s part are completely empty and ridiculous.
Mason called Smith’s response “seemingly sincere” and Redford’s call to apologize “unquestionably sincere”. How do we know it wasn’t the other way round?
His article reeks of bias, and Mason in my estimation has dropped a few notches.
