The European Union’s ambitious low carbon plan collapsed yesterday when Poland vetoed plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions drastically after 2020. The move is the latest stage in the ignominious failure of EU carbon policy that has seen a grandiose carbon trading system bog down in a quagmire of scandal and price collapse. Europe will meet its current carbon reduction goals less because of any serious action than because the continent’s economic crisis brought on by the poorly constructed euro experiment has stalled economic growth.

Climate change turned out to be the biggest Polish joke of all time.
If they were trying to chill the climate, it worked big-time. But I doubt it was cause and effect, probably more like karma overcoming dogma.
It is always nice to start a new week with good news!!
Funny thing, those EU countries that lived under Communist dictatorship, are the ones that fight for economic freedoms the most. The rest have no clue as to what comes next.
Poland has three choices for energy supply. It can dig its own coal, of which it has lots, build nuclear power plants, or buy lots of Russian gas. It’s doing the first two, virtually the exact opposite of what their German neighbours are doing.
(Sound of Greenpeace head-explosions)
Perhaps being behind the Iron Curtain for so long has made the Poles a little more wary of the great EU socialism experiment. Make no mistake, climate change, EU, monetary messes are all part of a big power play. Sorry to pull the conspiracy card out but it seems blatantly obvious to anyone not drinking the eco-koolaide.
Good thing they turfed these daft CO2 taxes in time for the long term cooling trend – and the discovery of 700 years supply of shale gas. Polacks ain’t stupid ya know.
Guess they finally figured out what that sucking sound was, coming from their wallets. Good for Poland. More will follow.
I can see flights over those parts of europe coming to a crashing stop lol. Divide and conquer
I heard somebody on Ruthorford talking about a carbon tax like they have in BC for Alberta. I think the Premier of Albetra would impliment such a thing … just like the .05 thing in BC where the officer can make a decision right there to impound the car/truck without charges … of course carbon tax would not be an election issue, that way they can just do it – like raising royalities, and not listening to voters and industry (though the best part is that, Saskatchewan oil industry boomed, and now not a have-not Proviance.).
Those in Alberta, be careful who you vote for in the Provincial election coming up.
This veto was the only good thing Tusk’s government [present Polish government] did.
I think Tusk had no choice, according to opinion polls, in February, 64% Poles had negative attitude towards his government.
I have always been a great admirer of the Polish people who have managed
throughout history to survive between a very big rock and a very hard place.
They also took up the challenge and helped to ensure the first defeat of muslim
expansionism in central Europe.
Staring down the racketeering defeatist EU is par for the course.
