We can’t export democracy
By David Warren
It is pointless to rail against a world view that differs from ours profoundly. One cannot reason with people who accept none of our premises, and to the point, none of our inherited western notions about justice and mercy.

In this post at Harry’s Place Michael Ezra cites a passage from libertarian Murray Rothbard’s book The Ethics of Liberty:
Brilliant: Solve the housing shortage by increasing the limitations placed on building businesses. No workers, no housing required.
Said by a caller to Santa Barbara County radio program(Andy Caldwell show).
Program guest represented construction industry, he said half the cost of a new home purchase in California is made up of a myriad of government fees.

National Post, Wednesday, Feb. 29. George Jonas is the latest to weigh in on the disgraceful Supreme Court decision of a week and a half ago regarding indoctrination in the schools:
http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2012/02/28/george-jonas-supreme-court-puts-the-final-nail-in-the-coffin-of-religious-freedom/
“What exactly is religious freedom, if it isn’t teaching God to your children as you see him? The justices didn’t say.”
“Like most courts and tribunals below, Canada’s top court sees its task as defending the state against the rights and freedoms it guarantees.”
“Is replacing religious classes with liberal pap an educational obligation?”
“Canada is turning into a theocracy with its own jealous God: The smug, self-worshipping state.”
This isn’t over. Quebecers who are concerned about this indoctrination may have to get their kids to speak up for their beliefs at every opportunity. In other words, if it comes up in class that all religions are equally true, a Roman Catholic or Jewish or Muslim student might inform the teacher that the student’s own personal religion is, dare I say it, the true religion. It’s never optimal to send kids to the front lines, but that’s where the battle is being fought. It will take courage, but religions are supposed to infuse their adherents with that quality anyway.
In his article, George Jonas easily out-thinks nine Supreme Court justices, just as Barbara Kay, John Carpay and Karen Selick have in other articles in various newspapers over the past couple of years.
Greetings, SDA’ers! I am thinking of starting my own right wing based blog, partially for an educational project and partially because I find myself screaming at the computer screen way too much and I need a soapbox, dammit! Anyway, it has been suggested to me that I use a blogging website, and being new to this industry I was wondering if anyone had any advice re: where to go or anything else you can think of. Any and all suggestions or advice is very appreciated!

Greetings SDA’ers!
I’m thinking of setting up my own right wing blog, partially because of a class I am taking and partly because I’m sick of yelling at my computer screen and I need somewhere to vent. Anyway, it has been suggested to me that I use an existing blogging website like wordpress or blogger.com. I am hoping someone out there can give me some advice or direction. Any and all suggestions are very appreciated!

Let’s see, angry people and a manure spreader.

Is Andrew Coyne backtracking? After all, he’s one of the Liberal$ main cheerleaders in the media:
http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2012/02/29/robocalls-andrew-coyne/
He ends his article: “As in any such investigation, ‘follow the money’ and you cannot go far wrong.”
Well, wait a minute. We did follow the money in the AdScam scandal and all it got us was Jean Chretien’s “joke” about golf balls. I guess it depends whose money …
Many thanks, nv53, I was going to link that Jonas article, “FREEDOM OF RELIGION, R.I.P.”. As far as religious Canadians are concerned, the Supreme Court Justices have completely turned their backs on the Charter. Interesting: they use it all the time to give dubious “rights” to favoured groups, but when it comes to religion—particularly Christianity—the Charter becomes superfluous and rights and freedoms get tossed out the window.
It’ll be interesting, as well, to see how this will work out practically. We know that Muslims are treated quite differently than Christians. Will Muslim kids in Quebec be forced to listen to indoctrination that THEY consider blasphemy?
Jonas’s last words in the column: “No, I’m not Catholic or even religious. Only appalled.” Me too.
11 Reasons to get your kids out of government run schools
http://lewrockwell.com/rep3/get-your-kids-out-of-govt-schools.html
” The “teachers” are endlessly pushing specific political and social agendas down the throats of our kids, and the skills that our children really need such as reading, writing and mathematics are often badly neglected. Hopefully we can get more parents educated about what is really going on in these schools. After all, why would any parents want to send their children into an environment that is going to be highly destructive for them for six to eight hours a day?
Sadly, “destructive” is not too hard a word to use for the environment in these public schools. I went to public schools all my life, and they were absolutely horrible. Unfortunately, they have gotten even worse since the time that I left them.
The following are 11 reasons to get your kids out of the government schools….
#1 You Could Be Arrested For Something That Your Child Does
Yes, you read that correctly. If your child writes a story or draws a picture which a teacher or an administrator takes the wrong way, you could end up in jail.
The following example is from thestar.com….
A Kitchener father is angry at police after he was arrested at his child’s school and later strip-searched at the police station, all because his 4-year-old daughter drew a picture of a gun in class.
“I’m picking up my kids and then, next thing you know, I’m locked up,” Jessie Sansone, 26, said of his ordeal on Wednesday. “I was in shock. This is completely insane.”
The school principal, police and child welfare officials, however, all stand by their actions. They say they had to investigate to determine whether there was a gun in Sansone’s house that children had access to.”

“Spain’s ‘Lost Generation’ threatens social fabric”
“MADRID (AP) — Daniel Lorente has worked construction, flipped burgers at McDonald’s, been a camp counselor, telemarketing representative and doorman.
But Lorente’s part-time jobs never lasted more than seven months: He was laid off from each one as Spain’s economic gloom deepened into a historic crisis. Now the 21-year-old is staring into a dead-end future.
“How am I going to make it if I don’t have a steady job, to pay a mortgage, for example?” asks Lorente. “Or for a wedding, or anything involving a big expense? You can’t get anywhere.”
Lorente is stuck among Spain’s “Lost Generation” of 20-somethings, with no work and no real prospects in sight: Roughly half of all Spaniards between 16 and 24 are jobless, the highest level among the 17 nations that use the euro. It’s a devastating picture of blighted youth that threatens to distort Spain’s social fabric for years to come, dooming dreams, straining family structures and eroding the well-being of a rapidly aging population.
“This puts the whole welfare state at risk,” said Gayle Allard, a labor market specialist at Madrid’s IE Business School. “The young people who are coming on the market now are the lost generation. They are losing the advantage of their youth and energy and that does not come back.””

Try this. Good luck.
[A] parent does not have the right to aggress against his children, but also … the parent should not have a legal obligation to feed, clothe, or educate his children, since such obligations would entail positive acts coerced upon the parent and depriving the parent of his rights.
Rothbard is nuts, withholding sustenance from children is aggression.

Several things strike me as stupid in this travesty of justice. No one asked the child what color the gun was, where daddy got it,(CDN TIRE) what it shot or what daddy was going to use it for. The drawing was on a blackboard and I still have some pictures that my kids drew at that age. I doubt if it was much more than chicken scratch. It was also erased before anyone with a brain saw it. Some simple questioning could have avoided a lot of problems.

“17 million people are out of work in Europe”
“Unemployment in the eurozone in January hit its highest since the launch of the currency area but a rise in inflation underlined concerns over oil prices that is likely to prevent swift further moves by the European Central Bank to help growth.
As the 17-nation currency area heads into its second recession in three years, relief that the eurozone has put the worst of its debt crisis behind it is being tainted by rising world crude prices and only mildly improving business morale.”
“Unemployment in the eurozone rose to 10.7% in January, while inflation, while down from last year’s peak, rose slightly to 2.7% in February, the EU’s statistics office Eurostat said.
“There’s a huge divergence between the feelgood factor in the stock market and what’s happening in the real economy,” said Steen Jakobsen, chief economist at Saxo Bank.
“For all the money the European Central Bank is printing, there isn’t yet a big boost for companies in terms of credit,” he said, referring to this week’s offer of 530 billion euros in cheap three-year loans to banks.”

Our media is reprehensible. I believe that with this robocall fiasco they have reached new lows. This crosses the line of irresponsibe and reckless journalism into the realm of inciting hatred and riots.
I’ve been off work and following the nonsense closely at both the G&M and at the cbc the past three days.
The media are lobbing smoke bombs on the airwaves, the internet, and in print. Then yelling ‘fire’. The peasants are being whipped into a frenzy to bring the gov’t down. There are literally thousands and thousands of comments at the two sites that are calling for a new election. More than a few of the posters have called for violence. Many are expressing their indignation of how friends and family fought and died for our freedoms, and now PMSH and his gang have made their sacrifice worthless. It would not take much to turn the anger into criminal acts.
We are fast approaching a consensus on the illegitimacy of the current gov’t. Rallies are planned for this weekend, some comparing them to the start of the “Arab Spring”. Every mention of a complaint from another riding,no matter how spurious, bolsters their resolve. Every story puts another log on the fire. Facts are not relevant, opinions are. Common sense is not relevant, emotional knee-jerk response is.
The investigation of the Thunder Bay call center is a prime example of the scenario that is unfolding. This is hyped as another ‘brick in the wall’ of Conservative electoral fraud, and the foolish are embracing it,swallowing it,and regurgitating. In our sound bite, twitter world it is inflammatory and confirms the suspicions of the rabid. In reality,it shows the inanity of the opposition’s case. The call center’s employees were given a message to read. This message included that it came from the Conservative party. Now really, who in their right mind would commit electoral fraud and announce up front which party they were representing? That dog doesn’t run, except when our media has put it in a cart and shoved it down a hill.
The complaint from the Volpe campaign consists of a call center worker receiving a mysterious call that sounds IMHO like another worker playing a prank . It did not affect anyone’s vote,it was to a call center employee, but that doesn’t matter,it is another log on the fire. Most of the riding complaints are anecdotal, and some of these are ridiculous, such as people receiving calls on Jewish holidays. That may be annoying, but it is not evidence of electoral fraud,it doesn’t implicate the Conservatives, but that doesn’t matter. The media has put it in the cart and pushed it down the hill.
The “robocall fraud” hysteria is similar to the ‘9/11 inside job’ BS. Rational thought and facts are tossed aside, anyone questioning the ‘fraud’ is a tool of the gov’t or incapable of seeing the truth. I expect Michael Moore to weigh in on this soon.
PMSH,and all MP’s should consider extra security, the wild ones are being primed for explosion. It’s a pity.
BTW,the CBC is having an “open-line” call-in show this afternoon for the last hour of “Power and Politics”, should be interesting.
“We’ve traced the call… it’s coming from inside the house”
PMSH has just said that the calls from the USA call centers come from the only party that used that firm, the Liberals. The CBC has dismissed this.
Link to above ‘traced the call’.;

What if EUROPEANS were the real ‘first nations’ and settled North America only to be brutally killed off or driven out by the invading ancestors of the Asian ‘aboriginals’ who usurped that title for themselves ?
What if the our return and resettlement from the 1500’s onwards was only our reclaiming our birthright in the face of oppression by illegal squatters ?
What if we demanded new ‘treaties’ be written based on those past injustices ?
http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/radical-theory-of-first-americans-places-stone-age-europeans-in-delmarva-20000-years-ago/2012/02/28/gIQA4mriiR_story.html
Radical theory of first Americans places Stone Age Europeans in Delmarva 20,000 years ago
When the crew of the Virginia scallop trawler Cinmar hauled a mastodon tusk onto the deck in 1970, another oddity dropped out of the net: a dark, tapered stone blade, nearly eight inches long and still sharp.
Forty years later, this rediscovered prehistoric slasher has reopened debate on a radical theory about who the first Americans were and when they got here.
Archaeologists have long held that North America remained unpopulated until about 15,000 years ago, when Siberian people walked or boated into Alaska and then moved down the West Coast.
But the mastodon relic found near the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay turned out to be 22,000 years old, suggesting that the blade was just as ancient.
Whoever fashioned that blade was not supposed to be here.
Its makers probably paddled from Europe and arrived in America thousands of years ahead of the western migration, making them the first Americans, argues Smithsonian Institution anthropologist Dennis Stanford.
“I think it’s feasible,” said Tom Dillehay, a prominent archaeologist at Vanderbilt University. “The evidence is building up, and it certainly warrants discussion.”
At the height of the last ice age, Stanford says, mysterious Stone Age European people known as the Solutreans paddled along an ice cap jutting into the North Atlantic. They lived like Inuits, harvesting seals and seabirds.
The Solutreans eventually spread across North America, Stanford says, hauling their distinctive blades with them and giving birth to the later Clovis culture, which emerged some 13,000 years ago.

THE OCCUPY GOLF MOVEMENT
WE NEED TO BE HEARD!!!
I am a member of golf’s lower 99%. I am an indifferent golfer, and there’s no way I could ever make it to the professional level. I will never put in the practice time to be the best. I will never have the shots, skills, or mental toughness to “make it” in the sport. I just never felt like working all that hard at it.
However, I am a part of the golfing community and, as such, feel I should be paid by the top 1% of golfers for what I do. It isn’t fair that those players who have worked harder, have studied the game more carefully, have better equipment and are more skilled and dedicated should make all that BIG money.
Where’s my share? I’m a Victim!
The top 1% should pay for my club memberships and green fees and lessons, buy me new clubs, balls, clothes and shoes, and pay me some of their winnings. They can afford it. They are “The Rich.” The whole system should be changed to accommodate people like me. I think we should get together and occupy a golf course and demand that those who are better at what they do, pay for us who generally suck.
Whining should get us something – maybe we’ll make the cover of Time Magazine and garnish some public sympathy. Hell, during this election year we may even get a law or two passed by legislators who want our votes.
The Occupy Golf Movement
p.s. Don’t mention this to tennis players! We thought of it first!!!
