More government bureaucracy, and a culture of genuflecting to special interests:
Commissar Sebelius says that she is trying to “strike the appropriate balance.” But these two things — a core, bedrock, constitutional principle, and Section 47(e)viii of Micro-Regulation Four Bazillion and One issued by Leviathan’s Bureau of Compliance — are not equal, and you can only “balance” them by massively increasing state power and massively diminishing the citizen’s. Or, to put it more benignly, by “leaving it up to the government to make good decisions.”

“leaving it up to the government to make good decisions.”
To be sure this bird has never lived in the Left Coast.
Sultan Knish: Uncivil Rights.
He has an earlier piece distinguishing negative and positve rights.
Me: I think the term “negative rights” is awful. Someone should come up with a more marketable term. Who’s for NEGATIVE stuff!?
How did that NASCAR driver ever pass the driver’s exam?
“Trust in government?! Give me strength,Allah.
Danica is a total creation who’s only purpose was to destroy the ‘most famous words in motorsports’- “Gentlemen, start your engines.”
Danica should probably stick to crashing the cars and looking good…
Sadly, Miss Patrick’s observations are perfectly in sync with those of most North Americans.
I dare say that more than a few on SDA have done nothing beyond marking an X every few years to contribute to a true participatory democracy.
Sadly Danica’s attitude is the one that ends up with citizens like her going to the apartment complex chairperson for permission and a permit slip to go visit the cousin on the other side of the city at Sredniy Tishinsky Pereulok Street.
More like crushing dissent with a 64 ton wrecking ball, and that would include Danica’s racecar.
And if Danica doesn’t start your engine, maybe you don’t have enough Vroom Vroom under the hood.
Cheers

Sure, Mr.Steyn, but you still think Ron Paul is the crazy one.
Clare Boothe Luce …the moral test of government is how that government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; those who are in the shadows of life; the sick, the needy and the handicapped.
We fail on every account.
