Just yesterday,the head of the Royal Canadian Navy issued a statement,quoted in the MSM,that Climate Change means they are going to have to increase activity in the North as the passages will all be ice-free.
Notice,too, there has been not a word about ending the Carbon sequestration program the federal government sponsors,and no removal of carbon taxes by governments at any level.
The only people who seem to believe the AGW scam is over,are the people on the internet sites I frequent,such as this one, but if you listen to your local radio talk shows and read your daily Newspapers,the AGW/CC scam is very much alive and well.
The scam will only end when our PM gets in front of the cameras and declares it a nonsense-based attempt at fear mongering,cuts off all subsidies to green power projects,and removes charitable status from the Suzuki Foundation.
Until that happens,the AGW/CC scam is still going strong in the real world,out side the internet,where it counts.

When you invest (waste) hundreds of billions of dollars on a scam, even when you suspect it is a scam, as a politician, you have to pretend that it is real. This applies equally to Harper as it does to Obama and the Euro-weenies. Harper has to defend the oil sands because without it, Canada is screwed. The bureaucrats (public and private) of the institutional investment (waste) don’t care about the reality of the scam, to them it’s just a good living. Millions of people are rewarded financially or emotionally for keeping the faith (watermelon theocracy). The skeptics (realists) are up against at least 60% of the Western world on this scam therefore it will take decades or a traumatic event to subside.
Just follow the money. The opportunity to tax nothing only comes once in a lifetime.
Thirty years ago, when I sat on the Township Council for a small population rural area in the Niagara Region of Ontario, we were faced with the 100 year criteria and 500 year criteria flooding standards.
The 500 year standard just about claimed all viable land in upt to 10 kilometers from Lake Erie, which as you know is above the Niagara Escarpment.
The Council quickly recognized if the 500 year flooding occured there would be a fifty kilometer long Niagara Falls running thorugh the middle of the Niagara peninsula. I think if this remarkable event occured the communities below the Niagara Escarpment would be affected more. Possibly the surge of tourism would bring enough revenue to pay for the clean up. (just saying)
Our next difficulty was to calm down the Township’s Legal Counselor as he moved into the possible legal ramifications if we did not establish the 500 year limits. We set aside this “speculative” standard as not reasonable.
The next level of demand was to meet the somewhat lesser 100 year standards criteria. Our findings as “elected” people were the standards were built on the amount of rain which fell on the Don River valley during Hurricane (Hazel?). (Not the current mayor of Mississauga)
Interestingly the amount of rain, which fell during Hurricane Hazel, was applied as the level of water to the Welland River and the various creeks @ every 500 foot length of the creeks and I think the river.
Let me summarize; 1/.we ignored the 500 year criteria passed through the Regional Niagara bureaucracy from the Ontario bureaucracy; 2/.we ignored, in my opinion, the possibly self serving advise from the Township Legal Counselor; 3/.we identified the speculative nature of the criteria used to identify the floodplain lines; and to date we have not come near that speculative criteria in the last thirty years.
Sometimes it just takes a little C.D.F. to slow down the “empire building”. I believe when our small population Township took a stand it provided cover for the other Niagara Region municipalities to establish similar positions. Cheers;

I would cut the head of the RCN a little slack. We need more naval vessels, and we need them now. If he can use the fiction of climate change to pry some money loose for them, bully for him.
Of course what we really need to properly defend our Arctic sovereignty are some nuclear powered icebreakers and nuclear subs; at least two of the former, and six of the latter, for a start.

“If he can use the fiction of climate change” In the case of the North, there is indeed lots of melting ice, so the Royal Navy is correct. There is, however, more than one theory about why the ice is melting. I favour underwater volcanoes and changing currents.
