Mercedes Benz has unequivocally apologized for using Che Guevara’s photo during a presentation at the CES show in Las Vegas.
List of Mitt Romney’s top 5 contributors:
Note: This table lists the top donors to this candidate in the 2012 election cycle. The organizations themselves did not donate , rather the money came from the organizations’ PACs, their individual members or employees or owners, and those individuals’ immediate families. Organization totals include subsidiaries and affiliates. From opensecrets.com
Goldman Sachs $367,200
Credit Suisse $203,750
Morgan Stanley $199,800
HIG Capital $186,500
Barclays Bank $157,750
Same list for Ron Paul:
US Army personnel $78,056
US Navy personnel $56,769
US Air Force personnel $55,405
Google Inc $52,801
Microsoft Corp $47,923
I’m always amazed at the number of people who’ve never worn a uniform who criticize Paul’s views on the military as crazy, unrealistic, etc. I’m sure every one of them is much more informed about the reality of war, and the limitations of the US military than, you know, the people who’ve actually been there.
EBD, Mercedes Benz’s apology sounded genuine. The question I have who was the moroon that let that slip by to begin with.
KevinB,
Interesting list. Can you tell us how much $ from the forces was actually being send to Rommey. Or are direct comparisons out of order?
KevinB,
As a side note, how about the number of $ from the forces being sent to obama?
I watched this a few years ago, but wonder if you have.

It is from http://www.co2science.org/index.php which gives more information for and results of studies than I can mentally absorb concerning a favorite topic – climate change. But I still visit it a few times a week to see what’s going on and read what I can.
KevinB- Military personel are a funny lot. One of the only groups of working people, who want nothing more than to lose their jobs.
Kevin,I went to the site that you mentioned. It is extremely difficult to search. Can you provide a more direct link?
double-zero squared:
1 – You could try to do your own research if you have questions. I’m not your errand boy.
2 – You could have followed the link to opensecrets.org. They list the top 20 contributors to each Republican’s campaign. I didn’t bother checking everyone, but for the erstwhile front runners (Mitt, Newt, Rick), not one of their top 20 was the military, whereas Paul’s top three were. I also checked Bachman, Perry, and Cain – no military there either. They didn’t have data for Bambam.
3 – If you have some point to make, why don’t you make it instead of asking snarky questions because you’re too lazy to check it out yourself?

You asked nicely, so here you go:

There’s a box on the upper right that lets you select the candidate you’re interested.
Thanks.
Don’t know how many people world wide complained to Daimler-Benz, but I sent e-mails to a number of B.C. dealerships that included the photo of Guevara and expressing my disgust and dismay.

“As [the LPC] gathered in Ottawa this weekend for a policy convention, why should Liberals oppose [Rae’s seeking to be leader?] Six reasons. … [the last one being} … there is no wellspring of affection for Bob Rae within the Liberal Party of Canada.
“Many federal and provincial Liberals recall the epithets he threw their way when he was a New Democrat. To them, Rae is a tourist in the Liberal party” [emphasis mine].
http://www.torontosun.com/2012/01/13/brace-yourself-for-another-round-of-rae-days
What is it about the Liberal$ that they have to field political “tourists” as leaders: Ignatieff and now Rae? When tried and true Liberal$ such as Manley and Tobin won’t touch the leadership with a ten-foot pole, it speaks volumes about the trouble the Lib$ are in.
A little humility at this point would be edifying and helpful to the party. ‘Don’t see it happening, though. No doubt, Rae will punch his way to the head of the line at centre stage, having lurked stage left for lo, these many years.
What a gong show.
Something very strange just happened vis a vis Google. I did a Google search to the Toronto Sun and found I couldn’t open any of the articles. When I went back to the main Toronto Sun site, there was a Google link under the link that said something about blocking articles. Like an idiot, I clicked on it, hoping I could undo the blocking.
Forget it. It either wasn’t an option or I don’t have the technical savvy to undo it. So, I’ve gone straight to the Toronto Sun site and have bookmarked it.
Why would Google not allow me to open Toronto Sun articles — and why would it provide a link to blocking the opening of TS articles? I mean, if someone didn’t want to access the Toronto Sun, no one’s forcing them to.
This “censoring” is bizarre and troubling.
This is not a tip and possibly is a dumb question. Where is all the side bar information that usually is on this site?
Is it a coincidence that just before I was blocked from reading Toronto Sun articles, I linked to a TS article which was critical of the LPC?
Ken (Kulak), ‘any connection, I wonder, to the sidebar information not showing up?
This is weird. Or, as my husband said, “The Internet is the Wild West.” Do we have a posse after us?!
Another poll about to go horribly wrong?
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/liberals-will-let-non-members-vote-for-next-leader/article2302961/
Liberals gathered in Ottawa affirmed a proposal Saturday to fundamentally change the party by making it possible for non-members to vote for the next leader.
The sidebar info is at the bottom. Why,beats me.
The sidebar was displaced to the bottom of the page because Robert’s An SDA Survey: Saturday Night at the Liberal Party Convention entry from last night was missing a closing div markup, so I added one for y’all.
wally & batb if I was to guess I would say the problem is your using windows, maybe?
I’m using windows.yer.

Yes, thanks, Vίtruvius, for that explanation. Do you have any explanation as to why there’d be a block-Toronto-Sun articles link under the Toronto Sun link reached by a Google search?
The movement of the sidebar to its unusual place was my fault. Sorry about that. Now corrected!
See this Blocked Sites page at Google, BATB.
I was not aware of Peter MacKay’s recent marriage to the past Miss World Canada. Wow, she’s stunning! And 14 years younger than him. 😉
Thanks, Vίtruvius. I’m saving the Blocked Sites page just in case I need it again.
The funny thing is, I never asked or wanted to block the Toronto Sun. Completely unbidden, the option to block the site appeared under the Toronto Sun link. Then, even before I clicked on it (hoping, as I said earlier, to be able to unblock the site), I wasn’t able to open any of the articles.
I’ve been away from my computer for a few hours, and now I can access the Toronto Sun.
Just weird.
And, yes, FREE, I use Windows!
A great column!

The military supporting Ron Paul is indeed fascinating and of course it requires no imagination to understand why the banksters aren’t on board given his anti-Fed stance, which barely disguises his anti-semitic world-wide-jewish-conspiracy view of banksters.
BUT, as with most other occupations (except academia) I’m sure members are spread across the ideological spectrum.
It’s also possible, of course, that a large swath of military personnel went in for a nice secure job believing that the prospect of fighting in a war was remote.
FINALLY, a large percentage of American Jews voted for the antisemitic pro-Muslim Brotherhood pro-salafist president Hussein Obama. SO, I wouldn’t be as confident of the significance of these donation figures as KevinB is.
So, 3,000,000 people donated a total of $190,000? Not exactly an over whelming show of support. Six cents a person……….
I just purchased the movie “Atlas Shrugged, Part 1”, which is now available on Amazon.ca at a price of $20.99.
Me No Dhimmi at January 15, 2012 1:57 PM: you are not being sent to hellholes to risk your life – soldiers are and Dr. Paul would not ask them to fight for 10 years and then admit defeat. Dr. Paul would get a mandate from Congress, go in guns a blazing from all barrels, get the job done, have a victory party and clear out. Endless wars killed the Roman Republic, the British Empire, the Spanish Empire…..
America, like Canada, needs defense – we need our soldiers here at home. America has nuclear subs that can take out a country, they have drones that can fight without risking a single soldier’s life. Why is the ‘present’ President sending soldiers into the middle east to die? Like Viet Nam, there is no plan for victory, just humiliating defeat after endless, heartbreaking slaughter and billions of dollars in destruction of infrastucture and equipment (WWI springs to mind).
If I were a soldier in America, I would vote for the Man who practices what he preaches, who defends what soldiers defend – The Constitution of the USA.
