Climategate 2.0: The Green Police

Chris Horner reviews:

The UK police and the US DOJ, Criminal Division, are pursuing a leaker of public records subject to one or more FOIA, records that were unlawfully withheld under those laws, which leaks indicate apparent civil violations (tortious interference by seeking dismissal of certain “skeptics”), and raising reasonable questions of fraud against taxpayers.
And they are pursuing the leaker.

Anthony Watts has plenty of updates.

  1. Tatoos will be next, Holder will round up and tattoo the deniers, the really really big deniers will be “Suzukified”, well all you deniers know what that means, jail.

  2. And as Kate has said many a time…..failing to riot is a conservative downfall(para-phrasing).I wonder what would happen if all the conservatives took a day off to riot?
(and please eastern paul…it is MoncKton…Moncton is a town)

  3. Truth is the first casualty of political correctness, which in this case manifests itself as forced AGW uniformity.
When you see it from the PC perspective, going for the leaker makes perfect sense.
From a legal, logical, truthful, sane perspective, however, it is bass ackwards.

  4. Good for Lord Monckton. It is high time someone started to push back against the fraudsters. Hopefully there is push back against the fruit fly expert here in Canada.

  5. So what’s the deal here.?
The current president of the US is obviously not a national socialist since his dislike for the American way is in public view.
    What then, can he be?
    Let us see.
His administration is running guns to the drug cartels. His administration is suing the states of his union regarding illegal residents. He is supplying loads of IN GOD WE TRUST money’s to dependent on his administration enterprises that close down after the money is used up.
On the other hand, then his administration investigates, very quietly, things that should have been public in the first place.
In this case, there is nothing to investigate or find out. Whoever did the leaking, provided a public service.
Maybe it is just to keep the employment in this administration up.
In the case of Fast and Furious, it became known that among other intentions, one was to make a case for gun control. You see, totalitarians of all shades don’t really need for the population to own guns. It’s easier to enforce diktat that way.
In Germany, the national socialists torched the Reichstag so they could blame the communists. Here one would invoke previous motto on top of the blog.
Many of this administration actions resemble that of national socialists of 1930’s Germany of the 20th century.

  6. It is obvious that we “climate deniers” have stepped on some REALLY big toes! If the police ever figure out where Delisle SK is, and how to get there, Kate might get a midnight knock too.
Remember: negligible sea level rise over the last 30 years; CO2 is a MINOR greenhouse gas.
When I say sea level rise is negligible, I am not referring to satellite data, I am referring to what I see and don’t see in St. John’s harbour.
I don’t trust the scientific establishment, and I’m one of them!

  7. Either there’s more than meets the eye or they have no idea how the blog system works.

Best report I have heard all week..
    Now,
lets move on to the cell phone ban.

  8. Greg Laden, whose sneering, illogical post is one of Anthony Watts’ updates, is practically rubbing his hands together with glee over the seizure of TallBloke’s computers. He begins his post at Science Blogs with:

“Thieves who broke into Unviersity(sic) of East Anglia computers in 2009, stealing thousands of private emails thus compromising years of expensive scientific research…”

In what alternate universe does exposing both the raw data and the wilful manipulation of this data compromise scientific research? Would Einstein’s – or Newton’s or Pasteur’s — conclusions have been “compromised” if their raw data and notes were revealed? Shining a light on scientists’s collusion in falsifying data compromises the cover up, not the research.
As for the “expense” of said research (“thus compromising years of expensive scientific research”), the researchers’s salaries, and their research-related expenses, are paid for, one way or another, by the taxpayers, but even that expense pales in comparison to the expense that would incur to every living person in the western world whose nations’s economies would be hamstrung to the tune of trillions of dollars if these fraudsters aren’t exposed.

    “…and causing a fabricated and unnecessary political doo-doo storm…”

How ripe is that? Exposing to the public and to other scientists the fact that putatively factual data and conclusions have been fabricated in the interest of promoting unnecessary, trillion-dollar solutions for purely political reasons has created a “fabricated and unnecessary” storm for these warmist scientists?
Amazing. Laden’s motto — “culture as science ~ science as culture” — should be changed to “jackbooted leftist politics as science, science as jackbooted leftist politics.” Anyone who is so transparently enraged about the prospect and requirement of scientific rigour and fact-checking of his pet “scientific” cause, and who wants to see the government crack down on those who would do so, isn’t defending science per se.
Watch Laden get absolutely hammered in the comments.

  9. I’m not a conspiracy theorist…In fact I find most, if not all of it bunk. However, if I were one I might pose some of these questions.
Why is Obama’s inept DOJ (i.e. the Fast and Furious, “stealth pardons” of two Weather Underground terrorists, Voter ID BS) involved?
What is the administration trying to cover up?
Why was the Keystone XL pipeline delayed until after the November 2012 election?
A conspiracy theorist might figure that there are e-mails that show the White House complicit with “The Cause” and Obama wants to consolidate his green vote (and his average guy who has never heard of Climategate vote) hoping another email dump doesn’t happen before November 2012.
But what do I know, I don’t believe on conspiracy theories. It’s just a lark, but an interesting one.

  10. No, lev, the Nazis did not torch the Reichstag so they could blame the Communists. The Reichstag was burned by a Dutch student acting entirely on his own, at a time when the Nazis were not yet securely in power and feared an armed uprising by the Communists at any moment. When the Reichstag burned, they quite understandably assumed that this was the Communists making their move. The Communists in turn, knowing full well that they hadn’t done it, simply assumed that the Nazis had. In fact both were taken by surprise by somebody else’s action.
