Will Dockworkers & Truckers be as Weak-kneed as Politicians?

Strange happenings have been occurring along the coasts of North America with the OWS nitwits shutting down the ports. A series of photos can be seen here. Even Vancouver was affected. Michelle Malkin has more coverage.

This hasn’t just happened spontaneously, of course. It’s being coordinated by socialist and communist groups who would love nothing more than to destroy the economies of the U.S. and Canada.
The question is, how much lost pay will the dockworkers and truckers accept before they retaliate in their own special way?
Update: Publicly, the union officials are not pleased. Privately, if this continues, OWS participants may not be so giddy once individual union members “occupy” their personal space.
For those who can stomach it, here’s the Twitter feed of Kari Koch, the young woman talking with Neil Cavuto. It would be very interesting to see an intrepid reporter interview her parents and elucidate the public on what her home life was like.

  1. I can just see the headline over at MSNBC following any retaliation. “Republican dockworkers lose it”.

  2. I don’t blame her. She’s just a homely, unhappy, not very bright girl who’s had no real education or grounding. I blame her (I assume) neglectful, worthless parents, her (I assume) idiot schoolteachers and her (I know) commie scum professors.

  3. The strange thing about port workers is decades ago container shipping eliminated 90 % of their jobs. During this time most of the freight that went through San Francisco ended up at the container port at Oakland. There are a lot of ports up the west coast that can handle a lot of freight, if Oakland doesn’t want it.

  4. “The 1% is using our port infrastructure to create wealth…”
Seriously, you can’t make up sound bites like that.

  5. And by the last I mean that the young woman was saying it like it was a bad thing.
You get the feeling that all these people want to do is pull everyone down to the lowest common denominator.

  6. “Her lips wrapped around the barrel of a loaded gun? That I’d pay to see.
Mind you, if the dockworkers did decide to demand compensation for their lost wages from mademoiselle in kind…”
    Troll, psycho, or both?

  7. Tony Two Toes: Lemme explain somethin’ to ya, sonny boy. Nothin’ moves off these docks without it don’t get loaded by the union. I don’t see no union people around here. Do you?
Tony Two Toes: We’re from the local 129th, sonny.
Mikey: We heard you was loading a ship without the assistance of bonefide union labor. Say it ain’t so.
Where is Tony in Portland? Get my baseball bat now!

  8. The girl Neil Cavuto ground up and spit out sounded like a programmed robot. Not a brain cell in her noggin. Bill Ayers, Van Jones and the Adbusters hypocrite need to work on their spin.

  9. FREE – he’s right that she should be shot and/or raped? He’s a “moby” troll. Google it. I’m hardly standing up for the OWS clowns when I point this rather obvious thing out.

  10. The dockworkers and truck drivers happily and regularly hand over enormous sums of cash to their union bosses as “dues”. If they’re being told that Occupy is part of the “cause” then they’ll sit on their collective a$$es for a long time to come. They’re not smart enough to recognize when they’re being used. Don’t count on them to put an end to the bu11shzt anytime soon.

  11. “The 1% is using our port infrastructure to create wealth…”
I can’t think of any commercial enterprise that the “1%” don’t use to create wealth.

  12. Yeah, the dock works of yore would have put a stop to this crap in short order.
    Camera’s gone? Check.
OWS cretins in the harbour. plop! Check.
    Container’s rolling. Check.

  13. Bla bla bla. Literally.
If the OWS are communists, they’ll keep this up. If they have any brains at all, they’ll join the Tea Party and protest the real problem, which is Washington bureacracy.
We are simply watching a very slow, very drawn out education process.

  14. I don’t think the Longshoremen will do too much, but there IS always the possibility. Most of them are well compensated enough to take a few days off if they have to,and they’ll make it up in overtime once the occupying’s over.
The guys I feel for are the truckers who can’t unload,so they’re stuck until they can. Most are independent contractors,so all they do is lose money.
Way back in the old days,1970,I knew a few Lomgshoremen in Vancouver, who coincidentally, also belonged to a famous motorcycle club. Those fellows would have taken a dim view of the Occupiers, but those guys are long gone.

  15. I do not think any of us are surprised that the various shades of communists are involved in these occupations.
What Black Mamba said, some of the comments are not fit.
This woman is just a typical stupid communist mouthpiece repeating party lines that Bill Ayers or some such has taught her.

  16. Truckers can be a funny bunch. I’m a trucker myself, owner operator. There’s been calls for years now that we should all “stick together”. When opposing businesses do that, they call it a cartel, which is illegal.
I don’t see much support in this type of action. One time I was the target of similar action by CBP, about 5 years ago. CBP is not allowed to go on strike but they can purposely slow down work and those not working are allowed to slow things down. The latter is what happened to me. A bunch of CBP officers just after the port were stopping every truck for about 10 minutes. The lineup was a good 3 hours long.
Lucky for them they dispersed before I got to the front, because I would’ve torn them a new one.

  17. Longshoremen bring down the long green, well into the six figures. They’ll support their union’s shenanigans literally to the death.

  18. As far as the “smart” lady on twitter:
Nobody ever accused the OWS movement being full of geniuses

  19. Yesterday SDA reported Van Jones (probably the #1 organizer of the OWWS fiasco)was the key note speaker at the BC NDP convention. I emailed several radio talk show hosts of that fact and mused how funny it was that no news reports mentioned this Comunists influence in our provinces politics hosted by the NDP. Seems to me the media in BC has the same left leaning Bias as the MSM in the US.
    When will it end?

  20. Customs and Border Protection. I actually used the wrong acronym, as that’s the US side. The labor problem was on the Canada side.

  21. Well this all just comes down to whether the longshoreman’s union (whatever acronym that falls under) is on board with the Occupy idiocy or not, doesn’t it? Hell, maybe I’m basing my world view on the Sopranos more than is sensible, but I always sort of thought the mob controlled the docks. I wonder what’s really going on here, behind the scenes?
p.s. thanks Ken. Always the voice of sanity 🙂

  22. I’ve crunched a few numbers. Bear with me.
    Arrogance + idiocy = “Occupy…” chick
Dockworkers – lost pay = sad kids without toys for Christmas which then equals epic beatdown by said dockworkers of “Occupy…” losers whose moment in the sun has long since passed
    Did I miss an equation?

  23. Just a few years back the dock workers here in Hamilton were blowing up each others houses over union disputes. I couldn’t imagine a group of hippies blocking them from getting to work.

  24. These people are totally, utterly, ignorant of even basic economics.
They have no idea what the term ‘wealth’ means, and have no idea of how wealth (surplus beyond immediate consumption) is produced or used. No idea.
But I feel that these OWS are creations of Obama. He’s equally dim-witted about the meaning of wealth, how it is generated and how it is used.
He has been on an anti-wealth campaign for several years now – denigrating work and its results, insulting anyone who makes more than 200,000 a year as a ‘greedy millionaire’ and insisting that that person give up his ‘surplus’ and give it to those who haven’t earned that much.
Obama wants everyone to give all their ‘surplus’, above a limited basic consumption, to Him, to government. Then, He will, in his magnificence, decide who to give it to. Incredible.
These OWS have fallen into the same mindset of economic ignorance and greed. I blame Obama for this movement against a productive economy and against private enterprise.

  25. My hat’s off to all SDAer who managed to listen/watch the entire clip. I watched the first few seconds and couldn’t stand it. However, having read the comments, I don’t think I made a mistake. Who needs an upset stomach, anyway?

  26. She’s like a broken record who can’t seem to get past her dogmatic statements. Its like a script that has no variance. No empathy for anyone but their obsessive one track gibberish against certain corporation. They are the Circle people never coming out of the set path. That they are doing this before Christmas is going to work against them.
They are hitting the pockets, of the very people they decry they are for.
I wonder when the Union goons will have enough of these posers?

  27. Are you people serious? This young lady, even though I have little sympathy for her cause, was more intelligent, more professional and more composed than this Cavuto moron that you are all cheering on like he’s the second coming of William F. Buckley.
Get a grip! This guy makes Keith Olbermann look professional. And you all sound like a bunch of frustrated, impotent, redneck, misogynists. Sorry folks, I gotta call em like I see em… and you all love that plain talk, right?
What happened to the intelligent conservative commenters on SDA? Wowsers!

  28. Is it just me, a Senior, or is this generation just doing too much drugs?
They say the most idiotic things I have ever heard in my long life.

  29. re. Igarvin – see, I’m apparently now the troll expert. How sad for me. Iggy here is what we losers who spend too much time online call a concern troll.

  30. To H.Ryan: Yeah, yeah, you think I’m a troll. etc. But what do you think of Mr. Neil Cavuto sobbing about stranded ships full of abandoned Teddy Bears? LOL I swear these braying jackass types must take off their make-up, mix themselves a drink, pull out their fan mail and laugh themselves sick at the rubes who buy into their shtick.
Seriously, the man simply can’t be that stupid unwittingly. He’s just doing show business, but it’s his audience that really worries me…

  31. lgarvin at December 14, 2011 6:40 PM – “Seriously, … YOU … can’t be that stupid unwittingly.”

  32. What a well programmed robotic twit. It’s sad that she can only repeat her indoctrination and not actually see the effects of her group’s action beyond hurting Goldman Sachs bottom line.
I wonder what she thinks would happen if she were to pull such a stunt in a socialist paradise like Cuba or China?

  33. LGarvin, perhaps you should re-watch the video. There was nothing professional or charismatic about this sputtering hippie whose repetitions exhibited no common sense whatsoever. She is, in fact, the very impediment to the legendary “ninety-nine percent” on whose behalf she is blocking goods.

  34. “LGarvin, perhaps you should re-watch the video.”
I’ve tried, but every time I get to the 1 minute mark, when Mr. Cavuto invokes the poor Teddy Bears, I just bust out laughing all over again. This is the “journalism” you folks enjoy? C’mon! You can’t be serious.
As I said, I don’t buy much of the protester’s argument but she presents her argument with far more professionalism and poise then that displayed by the clown braying at her. What I find incredible is the expressed opinion that some folks think Mr. Cavuto won something here. He looks & sounds a complete and utter ass. This girl, as naive and simplistic and programmed as she is, outsmarted Mr. Cavuto.
And y’all are still applauding him???? How badly do you have to fail before you folks will notice?

  35. lgarvin
    We get it.
Cavuto; “Blah blah blah…teddy bears..blah blah blah.
No mention, valid as it would be, of whether dockworkers who are not allowed to work are part of the 99% she is supposedly supporting. No questioning of the asinine assertion that Goldman Sachs’ stake in a single company on the docks justifies putting all the other company’s out of work (at Christmas time yet). No mention of the fact that it is ludicrous and downright heartless to stage this idiotic protest at Christmas time so as to block the movement of product that supports thousands of workers’ jobs (you know, the 99%)at a time of the year when business, small and large, relies on the movement of their goods.
Nope…All your incisive mind processed was “blah blah blah…teddy bears”.
You and that idiotic drone he interviewed should get together. You deserve each other.

  36. lgarvin = Troll
Typical troll trick. No one is praising Cavuto. In fact no one has even posted about him.
This is a red herring to steer the discussion away from the real subject. The poisonous OWS tactics with their dim rhetoric. The fact of this groups hypocrisy. So the troll uses personalities as a ruse.
The focus become people instead of the reasons for social disruption.
